How in the hell do you change this typewriter ribbon? -

For a Smith Corona series quot;Kquot; typewriter? I ve changed it once before, but that was 2 years ago, and I can t remember for the life of me how to do it!

I also have a Smith Corona typewriter , do you have the manual to it ? if not you can go on their web site and request a manual be sure to type in make, model number, serial number . year it was bought etc. I follow my manual to install the regular ribbon amp; the correction ribbon the correction ribbon sets on top of the regular ribbon on mine. it s not hard to change the ribbons. once you get the hang of it.good luck.

What you should have done is not remove the old one until you are ready to replace the ribbon. You just look at the old, as you put in the new. I can t tell you other than to just look at it closely... it s probably more obvious than you think. You should be able to just drop it in, being sure the part of the ribbon that shows slips between the pieces that stick up from the place where you put the cartridge. First, trying to remember here... you need to physically turn to make sure only the black part of the actual ribbon is exposed. The ribbon would only drop in one way.. I believe there s a little hold on one side of the cartridge that should be on the left. (It even amazes me that there is still a need for a typewriter. For me, my pdf files are either fill-inable or editable, I can do clear labels, envelopes, and pretty much anything I need. I ve never wished I still had a typewriter. Clearly, there is a need, or we wouldn t be able to purchase new ribbons for them.)

1. You have to move the switch to pop the daisywheel back (depending on your machine this is usually left of the ribbon platform). 2. Put the ribbon in and make sure the ribbon part is in FRONT of the daisywheel. 3. Gently push daisywheel back into place. Your K series ribbon is very readily available at most any office supply shop; they are still made by Ko-REC-TYPE and other suppliers. Happy typing!

An actual typewriter? They still exist? Have you considered a donation to the Smithsonian?

What company has the cheapest Ink Cartridges? -

I am getting a new printer but I dont no what one to get. I need a wireless one and one that has cheap cartridges.

Toward the bottom of the article located here http://www.castleink.com/_a-wireless-pri… you ll find a list of some of the better wireless printers with low cost ink cartridges. Hope this helps.

You dont mention what country you re in, so I dont know if this helps. I have always used and recommended epson because of their warranty. For one year they will express ship a replacement printer and pick up the old one should it fail. As for cartridges, I pay less than $3 each at http://ccs-digital.com for cartridges which hold 66% more ink than the others. Look at the workforce series. Avoid the artisan because it uses expensive cartridges for which I havent seen compatibles.

How do i refill my Samsung ML 1610 laser printer cartridge? Are the top-ups the best and cheapest way to go? -

I am just trying to refill my laser printer cartridge and have found that there are a lot of different ways to go about this. PLease can someone direct me hoe to do it with my specific cartridge? Thankyou.

https://www.tximedia.co.uk/shop/index.ph…

Don t refill the cartridge. If you refill it, your printer can not recognize the ink levels. Nowadays, the new compatible or remanufactured cartridges are very cheap and reliable. If you really find some problem, they have one year warranty. http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/samsung-t…

you burn a small circle with a hot circular tool usually comes with refill.Put toner in hole and seal with tape.P.S. try to keep it off your hands and refill on newspaper.

I recomend you consult the experts at this site: http://computersandsupplies.co.cc/Inkand… I m sure they ll give you the best solution.

it may be cheaper to buy refills but the problems it gives your printer its not worth it .go to a site like www.oyyyyy.com and check their prices first

What is the most compact inkjet printer available? -

I m looking for a range of the most compact/smallest inkjet printers that are available, from Canon or Epson if preferable. For home use, good quality printing for only documents, no photos or calendars or dvd disc covers. It can t photocopy, scan, or have any features except printing. The most user-friendly, bells amp; whistles free printer that you can buy! Price is not an issue.

Canon PIXMA iP100, InkJet Mobile Color Printer (part number 1446B002), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you need a compact printer, the SAMSUNG ML-1630 laser printer is truly in a league of its own. Its slim style and shiny black exterior are unlike anything you’ve ever seen. http://blog.123inkcartridges.ca/2009/06/…

How do I install a Deskjet D4160 printer to my computer? -

What printer can print cheaply in very good color amp; high volume on all kinds of paper? -

What s a good brand?

HP hands down makes the best printers. We use them at work -- desktop lasers and color network lasers. They all print fast and print all kinds of paper. The downside to this brand at this particular level (speed, laser, color) is the unit cost of the printer. The ink cartridges aren t cheap either however they last for many thousand pages. For home printers unless you can afford one from the above group I describe here, you ll have to sacrifice speed. I ve got a HP CP1518 I bought at the same time I got my new computer recently. The cartridges are supposed to last well over 1000 pages. Which is good because with a deskjet you don t get many pages between cartridges and you ll literally buy the printer several times over replacing cartridges during its life. But, as I said, you lose speed at this particular level. But I can print on any paper I need and the color quality is excellent.

HP Laser Printers, Inkjet Printers and Multifunction Printers Enjoy the convenience of wireless connectivity with our Officejet J4680 All-in-One. You ll be able to print, copy, scan, and fax all from one device, plus print at speeds as fast as 28 pages per minute in black and 22 in color. And with our Officejet inks, you ll get high-quality printing at a lower cost per page than with a laser printer. Reliable and versatile Print, copy, scan and fax with a single machine Print fast, at up to 28 pages/minute black, 22 color1 Fax at speeds up to 33.6kpbs Streamline big tasks with the 20-page automatic document feeder and 100-sheet paper tray Preserve important documents for decades without fading2

You are looking for a color laser printer if you are talking about printing on various types of plain bond paper. What do you mean by high volume? Xerox Phaser printers are my choice. If you have to do more than 50,000 pages a month, then a Xerox Docuprint, If you want color on unconventional surfaces like canvas and art paper, you would have to look at a solid ink printer (Xerox Phaser 8000 series) or a high end inkjet

you are asking the imposable. You can get cheap printers but the the ink ia out of this world in cost. Good colour don t come cheap HP Ink jet or Epson will do all you want.

I like the HP brand it has never let me down

How do you take a take out a paper jam in an hp photosmart printer? -

Please i need some help b/c i need to print out my work and theres a paper jam i dont know how to take it out.

Because you have Bought this Printer from HP, if you are from USA/Canada call this number 800 - 474 - 6836. They will help you if you are inwarranty. Before calling do this Steps. 1. Do a Power Drain Press and hold power on button for 60 sec after unplugging power cable from the wall socket, plug the power Cable directly to the Wall Socket. 2. After each step try to take a copy of a Blank white Paper and see if its Blocking or not. 3. Open the rear access door and clean the rollers and see for paper bits or scraps inside the printer and also remove both ink cartridges and clean the copper contacts on the cartridge as well as inside the printer. 4. Perform a Partial Reset , Turn off the Printer, Unplug the Power cable, Press and hold # and 3 and plug in the Power cable and keep hold of the buttons even after the power cable is Plugged in for 30 sec. 5. Still you face the Problem remove both ink cartridges and Perform NVM Reset Press and hold OK and CANCEL and plug in the Power cable and keep hold of the buttons even after the power cable is Plugged in for 30 sec. Still problem is there this means there is some hardware problem and needs repair. Call HP if you are from USA/Canada call this number 800 - 474 - 6836 they will provide with free replacement which includes free shipment.

In mine, i don t know if it s the same model as yours, you open up from the back. It has a little tab on there, you press on it, and the plastic cover thing comes off. From there you can grab the paper and pull it out. I ve found that it can t be done from the front, were you open and see the cartridges. The only way is from the back. It says in the manual that if you take it out from the front, you may damage the print nozzles or whatever those are called.

i tihnk i know how to do it but i dont know wat model it is. first lift up the part of the printer that lets you access the ink catridges. then slowly but carefully pull the paper out. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE PRINTER FIRST! or you can try to restart the printer if its a simple jam

There should be a door in the back . push toward the ctr,, carefully loosen the paper on one end and hit quot;OKquot; on the top of the printer. It should work, if not you might have a malfunction like I just did amp; they replaced mine. Mine was 5 months old, and they replaced mine with a remanufactured one, I thought that was kind of a cheap think.

slowly and carefully, if u are impatient u will rip it more and make it harder to fix.... open the printer (the top should sort of fold back) and find the paper, if u cant see it, see if you can take off the back... when u fiund it pullit slowly and gently untill u get it... no matter what BE SLOW AND GENTILE!!!

I have a quot;HP Photosmart 2575v All-in-Onequot; and what my booklet syas is to take the back off and slowly pull the paper out. If you rip it out from the front it may damange the ink. I leave my printer on when I do this. hope this helped.

How do I stop my Hewlett Packard C4200 printer from not using the first page it is given? -

If I want to print out a picture/piece of writing from a Word Document, I need to feed in two pieces of paper into the printer. This is because the printer takes in the first piece of paper and then spits it out without printing on it. Is there any way to stop this happening? Thanks Tech Spec: Running Windows XP amp; Microsoft Word 2003 on an Alienware Area-51 Printer = HP C4200

Try going into print preferences and there should be an option to print the last page first or what number of the individual pages you want - this is usually under Page range on the print menu page. If you do have a blank sheet as page 2 on the Word document then delete it by putting the cursor on it and press the return button until it has gone. Mine used to do this and then printer that page blank even though I had not written on it - drove me mad. The Word programme puts a new page up when you are near the bottom thinking you need a new page. If you do not need it it has to be deleted by you or Word will save the document as two pages and your printer will print it as a blank page.

printers print backwards. last page to first page. if your last page is a blank page that might be the problem . other than that im not really sure of what it could be. im not much of a computer techie.

How do i change my owner information on my printer? -

I just bought a Canon Pixma MP600 photo all-in-one ink jet printer. When the owner information came up- my nickname was in the owners name line (its the owner name for my laptop). So i changed it to my full name, but it somehow stayed as my nickname. I would like to change it to my full name b/c i will be sharing it with other people and i cant figure out how to go back and change the owner information. I ve tried almost everything and am desperate now. What can i do?

Go on Canon site : http://www.canon.ca/english/index-customersupport.asp?pid=amp;vs= and click on the bottom of the page : quot; Other product (if not found above) click here quot; Send them an email and explain your prob. Andre L

I clicked to print from a web page and now its blocking my printer? -

It wont print or delete, I haven t got the printer on pause, it wont allow me to uninstall the printer cos its telling me the printer is in use. I can t print anything else either. Is there a solution?

A PC re-boot generally clears this. If not you will have to open task manager, find the printing utility , probably with -spool- in it s name, stop it and re-start

try the following. 1. close down computer . 2. switch off power to printer leave for 5-10 minutes restart. Many printers have in built memories powering down should clear these memories and enable a normal restart amp; print funtion

Try to click on the printer icon in the tool bar at the bottom right hand side of your screen to bring up the printer list, then you should be able to annul all print schedules or activities, I have a Canon printer and that works for me.

What does your question have to do with printers? That s where you posted this, so called, question.

How much will it cost to get my magenta ink running in my printer again? -

I have a Brother MFC-5440CN printer and the magenta ink isn t working regardless of getting new cartridges or not. I don t want to lug the thing on the bus to some obscure printer shop for some guy to charge me a crazy amount of money for something which is probably very simple to fix. Thanks.

just go to walmart of tigerdirect.com

About $150 - that s the cost of a 5860 which took the place of yours. I had a Brother MFC and LOVED the print quality and the ink economy when printing. However, I HATED the fact that it constantly runs the cleaning cycle - which seriuosly drains your ink. You magenta print head is burnt out and not much you can do about it. I switched to an Epson printer and like that very much. Not quite as efficient with the ink when printing, but doesn t do that cleaning cycle all the time like the Brothers do. So over all much better ink use.

just get a new printer. The new printers come with ink. So the cost of a new one is worth it.

How can I connect my Lexmark Printer to my cable router? -

I have comcast internet and try to connect my Lexmark All-in-one printer fax but comcast told me that i have to get another phone line. I have a router connect to my computer for my other computer. Do you think I can u that coonect my fax to that router?

Your Lexmark All-in-one printer fax is designed to connect to a standard telephone jack line not LAN connections. The Comcast cable modem is designed to connect to your computer through the LAN port. If you have a router that connects to your modem and to your computers, it s still using the LAN ports for everything and is not telephone/fax compatible. If you have their Comcast cable modem with digital phone capabilities (which is what I have) then you can connect to the telephone port. If you only have the one telephone port then you ll have to decide which one (phone or fax) to use at a time (which is what I do). You cannot connect your Lexmark All-in-one printer fax directly to the cable modem or router as they are networks not phone lines. You cannot have your phone on all the time and the fax too hence the reason they said you need another phone line. There are internet based fax solutions that you can use but that uses the computer to scan and send the fax and not the fax part of your Lexmark All-in-one printer fax machine. Hope that clears things up. Good luck.

Only if your printer has wireless capability or has an ethernet hook up on it.

How can I wirelessly network two computers to the same printer? -

I m assuming the software for said printer has to be on both computers, but where do I go from there?

you can get a wireless printer router, there not very expensive and work well. or you can hook it up to one computer ans share it across the network. I personally have the hawking one cause we don t have any space around a computer to put the printer. http://www.nextag.com/wireless-router-pr…

Generally, there are two ways: 1. Have the printer physically attached to one computer and set it up for Microsoft File and Printer Sharing. 2. Set up the printer as an independent node on your network. Some printers come with the hardware and software for this built in, but it s also possible to buy a box that is, essentially, a computer with the sole function of serving the printer or printers. Hope that helps.

If your printer has a NIC card, you can use a wireless router to connect to the printer. Then you can just install the drivers on each of the computers and set it up as a wireless network through that router. If the printer does not have a nic, then you can get a separate print server and follow the directions they give you to set this up. Another option that works, and I use, is to take an old computer (like a PII or something you would not actually use) strip it down to bare bones, and install the printer on it. Connect that printer to a wireless router with a Static IP. then wireless network into it sharing the printer out on that old computer. That is the cheap yet useful way to do it. Good luck!

I am assuming your printer is attached to at least one PC. Okay on that PC goto control panel gt; printers and fax. Now right click on the printer find sharing - allow sharing. On your other PC that is connected wirelessly goto control panel and add a printer - browse to the printer that should now be showing on your network. The software will load across your network. Keep smiling.

The printer would need to be connected to the network somehow (i.e. being connected directly to your router or switch), or it would need to be connected to one of the computers and shared out so the other computer could see it. Also, in the first scenario, you would need to ensure that the printer is network capable (i.e. has a port for a network connection). The last way would be if the printer supports Bluetooth. Then you could connect a Bluetooth receiver/transmitter and then pair the printer with the computers.

What kind of printer is needed to print out bigger papers? -

How do you print out papers that are bigger than the average size? For example like 11x17?

If you wish to have a poster printed then most printers will do this but you have to join the pieces, which do come out exact so matching is a breeze. With mine I can make an A4 sheet16 times bigger. I have used this facility many times and printed out something to over 7 feet by 5 feet and it looks good when all attached, sort of like those bill board poster that come in sections and then they fit together. If you want enlargement for something like a special picture or art work then you will need to buy one that is more specialist but will cost accordingly.

Printers with capabilities to print paper of this size are called as large format printers. Most of the companies build such printers and you can search on google for large format printers. However you can visit the following pages to have a look at some of these printers and compare there prizes and features http://reviews.cnet.com/4566-3156_7-0.ht…

Is it illegal to throw away an old computer or printer? -

I ve had an old computer and an old printer in my closet for years now and I need to get rid of them. I just want to know if there is some kind of law against throwing those items in the garbage. I live in Los Angeles if that means anything.

Yes. That s why it s so important to pick a good brand. You re stuck with it for ever.

If you look at this website LA is long most other areas and have laws about just throwing it away http://ladpw.org/epd/CompElec/index.cfm. They give you a number of ways to safely dispose of electronics. You should do this as computers have a lot of dangerous chemicals in them.

No. But make sure you get rid of the information on the hard drive before you do so someone can retrieve your personal data.

no but computer stores usually recycle them for free. Give it to them and help the environment

What is the paper placement for a fax? -

I have forgotten the paper placement to send a fax with my HP 1040 Fax. Is it placed print side up or down?

Did you also forget the M A N U A L for instructions?

What color could I print in to get the most use out of my inkjet cartridge? -

Usually one color or another runs out first in my HP and causes the color to turn green or pink. What would be the best color to use an even balance of all three color to get total use out of my cartidge?

I am not sure what you mean by what color should you use. In my HP you cannot chose the color. The color that runs out first would seem logically to be the one used in the pictures most often.

How do I connect my laptop to my printer? -

I have a wireless laptop, how do I connect it to my printer?

Is your printer shared via the other PC? Do you have it installed on another PC? If you have it setup on another PC you ll need to share it to allow your Laptop access and they should both be on the same Network/Domain/Workgroup. Right click on the printer installed on your other PC left click on sharing (depends on what O/S you are using) click the Share this printer and give it a name. Apply. On your Laptop browse your Network for your PC... you can do it via the IP address if you like or by the name or by the Browse for Printer option when installing a new printer. Double click on it to install if your not using the Printer install Wizard. You may need to download the drivers to your Laptop if it is Vista (also check Network discovery is turned on in your Control Panel - Network) Is the printer USB? If so connect it via a USB cable.

If the printer has a USB cable, install the printer software from the cd or download it from the manufacturers website. Then finally connect the printer using the cable when it asks or when the installation is finished.

How do I stop my Printer from printing documents in banner format? -

A screen shows up whenever I print a document indicating that the printer has no banner paper in it. then when I print the document, the top margins of the page are cut out, and the document prints at the very top of the page, even though the document is displayed on the screen with a margin. How can a stop the printer from printing so?

When you set your printer preferences, is there an option for Paper Size? Make sure that s set for regular sized paper.

Or, it could be the printer itself. There might be a tab in the preference regarding this. Check it out. Good luck.

My canon iP1200 printer is unable to recognise the newly installed color catridge what should i do? -

It is a brand new catridge but it is displaying quot;Out of Inkquot;. I have already cleaned out the catridge slot a few times. I have also restarted the printer 2-3 times still no desired result. Please help!

Have you reset the ink levels, because if you don t the printer still thinks the cartridge is still empty? Start ? Settings ? Printers amp; Faxes ? Right click on your printer and select Properties ? Maintenance ? Reset Ink Counter Levels [It will ask you which one you replaced or both] ? Send to printer ? Apply amp; OK

Did you take the piece of tape off the bottom? Try this, turn your printer off, turn your pc off. unplug your printer from electricity. Wait a few minutes (10 ), plug in the printer, turn it on, turn your pc on. Now see if it works.

What is the cheapest Black and White printer available? -

In terms of the cost of the original printer and in terms of ink? For instance, even if Lexmark had a $20 Bamp;W Printer, I would not buy, since their proprietary ink model would mean I d spend $20-50 per ink cartridge reload. I just need to reliably print regular 8.5x11 sheets of text, for directions, grocery lists, video game FAQs, letters, and maybe the occasional shipping label. Thanks in advance!

Get a laser printer. YOu can pick up an ML-2010 for about $60. The cartridges cost about $60 however will print 3500 pages. The cartridge it comes with is rated for about 500 pages. It is a laser printer so you do not have to worry about ink drying or streaking illegible print. Buying a laser for monochrome printing will save you a bundle of money.

How do you dispose of the used film from your fax machine? -

I asked because one could read everything you have printed on the film. It s like plastic, so it won t shred. Can it be burned?

Just chuck it in the bin, unles your local authority has a quot;special wastequot; service. You could call your local waste department to see if they specify a means of disposal, I know here in Norway they re pretty good, we have 3 bins, (paper, organic and quot;restquot; and are looking to add one for plastic soon) But DO NOT burn aANYTHING plasticy

Get a shredding service.

Don t burn it!

How do I just print a selected section instead of several pages? -

Need to print a specfic paragraph and not the 5 pages my print page preview indicates.

in the print screen, click quot;pprint current pagequot; or quot;print page number __quot; and fill in the blank. or copy that paragraph onto a blank page and print that

Choosing the print button and selecting quot;print current pagequot; and quot;select page numbersquot; is how my printer works too. Print preview the document and look at the page numbers of what you want to print, then go to the select page numbers and fill them in. If they are random numbers in a document you may need to go through the process a couple times, that s how I get through it.

You have to highlight the area that you want to print....hold the mouse clicker down and drag it over the area you want to print...then go to print...and select quot;selectionquot;, then click print...it will print only the highlighted area for you....

Depending on what program you re using...but nearly everything I can think of works like this: Highlight the paragraph you want to print. Hit File gt;gt; Print. Under the Page Range area, click quot;Selectionquot;. That should do the trick.

select--click print--click selection button and click print.

open another doucment and copy and paste that paragraph then print :)

How do I print in black and white with a hp psc 1200 series printer? -

I have a hp psc 1200 printer. The color cartridge in the printer is empty. Only the black cartridge has ink in it. I have an email that I want to print. It is in color. How do I print the email in black and white? I have tried printing preferences and properties, but I have not found an option to print in black and white.

Leave the tri-color cartridge in the printer, even though it is empty! You can replace it later! Use the quot;HP Directorquot;, select the quot;Print Settingsquot; , look for quot;Grey Scalequot; printing preferences, in the quot;Colorquot; settings tab.

goto the printer properties and select there only black cartradige or colour

Press the quot;blackquot; button.

if you dont have any color ink cartridge then it should print in black and white...if it does not work then try printing on greyscale setting.. hope this helps

What is the difference between a ink jet printer and a Lazar printer? Which is a more economical choice? -

My ink ject printer eats up ink so fast. I heard Lazar printers do not need to be refilled as often. Is this true? And is there a quality difference between the two?

The big difference between inkjet and laser printers are how they actually print. Inkjets actually spray ink onto a page, which is why they come out slightly damp/wet and you shouldn’t touch photos that you’ve printed right away. Laser printers actually put toner onto the page and then put it through a fuser, which heats up and fuses the toner to the paper. Laser tends to cost more than inkjets when you compare ‘upfront’ costs. Inkjets tend to be really cheap to buy the printer itself but the cost of the ink refill cartridges really adds up in the end. I know for a fact that most printer manufactuers (HP, Lexmark, ect) sell the printer units at a loss (they sell them cheaper than it costs to produce the item) because they end up making so much more money on ink cartridges. Here is a great figure that I found on the website linked below: “Even if you print very little, the cost quickly adds up: Seven pages a day times 300 days equals 2100 pages — an ink bill of $235.60 per year. If you own the printer for three years, the cost of cartridges comes to over $700 or about 13 times the original cost of the printer. For the Epson Stylus C62, Shulman concludes that the ink bill would be over $1000 for three year s worth of printing.” Laser printers on the other hand are quieter and faster and don’t seem to have as many problems. Here is another part of that same article “An HP laser printer with an estimated machine cost of $400, combined with a $115 toner cartridge, yields 8000 pages. Printing 40,000 pages costs you $400 plus $460 for the ink for a total of $860. A Brother 1440 laser printer works out at about $930 for the same number of pages. That comes to around two cents a page, or eight times less than an inkjet printer. “ As for the environmental impact, only some inkjet cartridges can be refilled because of the brand or damage to the print head or a variety of other reasons. 99% of toner cartridges can be refilled - and you can buy the refilled toner cartridges (which are just as good as brand new) for a fraction of the cost of a new one! As for which you should buy, it all depends on how much printing you plan to do. If you only need to print 100 pages or so total a year, then the inkjet would be your best option. If you’re planning to print directions off MapQuest every time you take a trip, print coupons out of your email or websites, and print papers for work/school then the laser would be a much better investment. Quality: This is what I found at a different website on quality between the two: quot;If you need to print top-quality photos, an inkjet is a must. Even most $1,000 color lasers can t match the best $100 inkjet (equipped with photo inks and the proper paper) for glossy photo prints. But be prepared to wait a bit for such results: Most inkjets require a minute or so to produce a 4x6 photo, and up to 4 minutes for an 8x10. A color laser might produce an 8x10 in under a minute, but you wouldn t mistake the printout for a photo-lab enlargement. As for text, inkjets have made tremendous strides in both speed and quality, but to our eyes laser printers still have the edge. A good inkjet can produce well-formed, crisp text on plain paper; print the same page on a laser printer, however, and the characters (especially at smaller point sizes) will really pop. And don t let manufacturer claims of 20 and even 30 pages per minute (ppm) fool you into thinking an inkjet is as fast as a laser. Those claims are generally for low-quality draft mode. A laser will be much speedier at outputting text and graphics pages than an inkjet set to highest quality. So if you print a lot of text documents, get a personal laser. quot; Good luck making a decision!

lazer printers are insanely expensive. You usually only see them in offices, never in the homes because they are so expensive. Its even worse if you want a color one. If you check staples or office max online, they have the pricing on them and you ll see why the majorty of us have to stick to ink jet printers. I would recommend getting the ink jet refill kits. That way, you can refill your cartidges as home for a bigger savings. a color laser printer is about 600.00 on staples.com right now. Yes it is better, but who can afford it?

Laser printers are intended for mid and high volume office environments, and offer significantly lower quality in terms of photo quality. Ink jet offers superior quality, usually at a higher cost per page. I saw those new Kodak printers over the weekend (ciucuit city and Wal-mart) that sell the ink refills for about half the price of other manufacturers. The quality looked good and the price was right.

The wave of the future is Lazzzzzzer!

ink jet give u better pictures if you are into photo quality print on glossy paper, lasers are faster but there is a difference in quality but they are great for prinitng documents.. in the long run they are more economical and faster but for home use, if you dont print loads and if you like to do good quality pictures from time to time i would stick with the ink jet.

you can lighten up you ink sometimes and if you use either one a lot then its going to use a lot of ink either way...should be able to print and pack of 500 or more of paper with one fill

Yes quality difference, Ink more expensive in laser printers but much better quality.

What type of companies these days are still using green bar printers? -

There are still a lot of companies still using the quot;green bar printersquot;, also known as impact printers. Most often they use these printers for multiple copy printing for 2 - 6 part forms on OCR paper. A lot of them use them for the W-2 s they send out every year. Some still like the large format paper to look at and use. Printronix is one company I m familiar with that is still in that market niche and still making new and updated impact printers all the time. FYI - The quot;Green Bar Printerquot; printer nickname actually refers to the green amp; white barred paper that was originally used on these printers. Most commonly it was single part paper, but there were many others that went from 2 - 6 part forms normally. There were no specific colored papers for the different parts unless designated by the company requesting the forms.

what s that?

What laser printer or copier would you recommend for printing large quantities of envelopes? ? -

I will be printing return address on 80lb. white envelopes of sizes A1, A2, and A7 in runs of 100 to 200 at a time. Crinkling and curling is not acceptable and I cannot spend time doing manual feed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

Is there an ink jet printer out there that does true double sided printing? -

Or is it only a laser printer that will do it?

Yes there is. The Epson RX680 will do two-sided printing, plus copy, scan, auto-photo correction, built-in red-eye removal, faded photo restore, CD/DVD printing, etc. This is a awesome printer and will do everything you want it to, plus more. Here is the link to check out ALL the features: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/Produ… If you do decide to go with this printer, there are a few important facts that I like to tell everyone about: 1. Leave the printer on: It is recommended that you leave your printer turned on. The printer is Energy Star compliant. Every time you turn your printer off and then back on, it recharges the ink cartridges and actually uses ink. This is true for all printers. If you print often you should not have any problems with your printheads. If you do not print very often, it is recommended that you perform a nozzle check every couple of days to keep the printheads from drying out and becoming clogged. If this does happen, all you need to do is a printhead cleaning. This maintenance operation varies from printer to printer and will be explained in your user’s manual. 2. When you run out of ink, you will have to manually tell the printer that you want to change the ink cartridge: This is due to a safety feature that is on all Epson printers. It is very easy for children to open the lid of the printer. If your child opens the lid and the printhead carriage begins cycling (moving back and forth), your child’s fingers can easily get hurt. Therefore you need to tell the printer you want to change the cartridge. This information is in your user’s manual as well. 3. If you run out of a color, you cannot use the printer until it is replaced: The reason for this is yet another safety feature for your printer. There are actually two reasons for this feature. First, if you are allowed to print with an empty ink cartridge, when you finally do replace the ink cartridge, your printhead maybe clogged. This is due to the fact that there is an ink reservoir in the printhead. If there is not any ink to keep the reservoir moist, it will dry out and become clogged. I use this illustration; it is the difference between new glue and dried glue. The glue will flow freely when it is liquid, but when it dries out it is set and hard. Now imagine this example in your printhead. Secondly, some printers allow you to print if a ink cartridge is empty. They do this by combining the remaining colors to produce the desired color. The only problem with this theory is that you will not get accurate, true colors, especially if you are printing photos. How are you going to accurately make yellow with cyan and magenta?

How do I print a picture on a full page of paper, like a magazine cover? -

I m doing a magazine project for school, and we re supposed to make our own personalized magazine cover. That part is easy, but I m not sure how to make my printer print on the full page, like a normal magazine cover. Can anyone help me, please?

Most photo inkjet printers will print edge-to-edge but that is usually limited to a 4x6 inch print. I don t know of any printers off-hand that will print edge-to-edge on standard size paper. Most all magazines are printed on larger paper and trimmed to size and if you compare most magazines to a standard size 8.5 x 11 inch paper you ll see the magazine is smaller. This is the best I think you could do as well by printing on regular paper with the margins set to the minimum values and then trim it to a smaller size to crop the page to the image. Otherwise you would have to print on larger size paper like 11 x 17 inch (tabloid size) paper and trim to size as well. I would imagine your teacher does not expect a perfect edge-to-edge print for your project, but a nice magazine type layout on normal paper (maybe set to minimum margins) would be fine and what everyone else is going to do as well, but I don t know your teacher or the exact specs your teacher provided to you. Sometimes students tend to over-think things when they re not necessary. Best of luck.

Select to print the picture and press print. Usually a menu of sizes then appears by the side. There is usually a full size page option so if you set the paper size to A4 then select the full page option then it should fit. If using Vistas then there is an option on the box below where the picture appears that you click to make the picture fit the whole page instead of leaving a little white boarder around it.

CropMom at http://www.cropmom.com lets you put your photo on a mock magazine cover. There are several templates to choose from: sports, fashion, tabloid. All of the templates can be edited to make them your own. You can add your own headlines. Or you can create your own by modifying the template. Cool site. Screen quality creations are free. Upload your photo. Make a layout mock magazine using it. You can add your own text. There are thousands of graphics to choose from to enhance or modify your creation. Then save it. Go to My CropMom and click on the layout. Then click the quot;sharequot; link. It ll let you enter the email address of the recipient, and your card will be sent via email for free.

Can you suggest a color printer for home use? -

I have a P4 PC with broadband internet connection at home. I am planning to buy a color printer, most probably an all in one, which can print, scan and copy. I hope my printing job will consist of documents, graphics and some photos and may be some good pcitures downloaded from the net. I would like to get advice on printers requiring less maintenance cost on ink catridges.I understand lots of new all in one pritners have been marketed recently. Thanks.

Here s a link to HP s current offerings. If I could give you any advice after 13 years of being a printer technician it would be STAY HP! There will be a ton of people advising you into another brand but not many if any can say they ACTUALLY repair printers for a living. I repair 17 brands but can only recommend 1 and it s HP. Your budget will really determine how much printer you get. Buy the most printer you can afford as the ink or toner supply only gets cheaper with the better machines. Color toner machines although more expensive than inkjets, your cost per page printed and the mean-time- to-failure is much better. Buying a cheap machine is kind of like shooting yourself in the foot. Invest once at a higher level my friend and have years of happiness. Buy cheap and you ll pay a much higher price in the end. If you must pick an inkjet machine, pick it by the amount of ink carried in the cartridge and the resolution (dpi) / speed requirements you have. Often times spending $50.00 extra in a machine will save you hundreds of dollars a year in supplies cost. Hope the above helps.

HP officejet 6110xi

If all you need is a printer then go with lexmark b/c you can get one for about $30. If you want to spend the extra money for a all in one. Go with HP. HP may not do so well with computers but their all in ones are great. I put links for walmart for the cheppys on Lexmark and HP

Okay, you gotta listen to this: If you want an all-in-one printer that will do nice photos and color printing, you have to go with the HP C5180. The quality on everything it does it some of the best I ve ever seen. As far as economical printing goes, this printer uses a new technology by HP that vacuums out every last drop of ink from the cartridges. There s too much really to list about this printer so I ve included a link to a review about this printer where you can learn more.

You may not know the name Gillette but he was one of the sharpest merchandisers ever and has been copied over and over..... Gillette Shaving Razors and Dispoable Blades. What a Godsend. No more stropping the old straight razor. Blade getting dull? Pop in a fresh, ultra sharp blrade in seconds..... Gillette gave away razors, gave them. Because he sold millions of blades - trillions - who knows. A legend.. Buy a new printer at a ridiculous price, a give away, but you ll have to buy my cartridges Personally, I looked for refillable laser toner cartridges, among other things. Have not looked into newer stick type. Present printer has at least five years left before things happen.

I like the HP all in ones because they usually only take two cartridges and I have one as well as two other hp printers and one espon. I like the HP better. P.S. it really does not matter about the computer unless you have a MAC and just about all of the HPs are compatible with MAC

I would go with a lexmark, that is what I have and I have a home business and it does great printing the graphics for my flyers and such. Also great with doing my family pictures for the scrapbooks and stuff. If you get one that is an all in one it will run you under $200.00 and the cartridges are not that expensive. They do have some really expensive ones, but you can get a good one that just prints for less than $50.00.

How do I print on textured cardstock with my Dell Laser Printer 1700n? -

I have tried setting the paper type to card stock and something called bond. I have tried several different combinations in the print quality section. The end result is that the printed page looks awful. The texture is kind of a waffle weave, and the printer only seems to be printing on the top. The ink doesn t seem to be getting into the crevices that make up the texture pattern. There are several choices for quot;customquot; paper types, but I can t figure out how to program them.

I m not familiar with the Dell line of laser printers. My Dell is just a plain old inkjet. But you might find answers at the support link. Specifically, the online user guides: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g… Failing that, there s also a contact us link (email) and live chat link in the upper right corner as well as a toll-free number that might actually get you to a live person :-) wwbgd

What printer would be good for using heavy paper? -

The printer would only be used for the thick paper, and would be in an office - so would be used a lot! We need one that will last for a long time. Does such a printer exist?

the better printers are set up to select card stock type paper cannon makes some of the better ones out there

How do I get the ink level to show so I know how much is left? -

I have a HP deskjett 5400 series and can t get the status window for level of ink to come up.

When the page comes out of the printer blank, then you are out of ink. Those ink levels are notoriously unreliable.

On the printer icon on task bar right click, monitoring preferences, check list and make sure ink level is checked,if your printer is nt the same it will be in your prefernces somewhere.Right click and see what choice you have.

What is the average cost of a case of black printer ink cartridges, and where can they be purchased? -

Can it be obtained at wholesale prices, and If so, where?

I suggest you to buy directly from the manufacturers or wholesale suppliers if you are looking to buy in bulk. It will save your money and time. You can find the list of suppliers and manufacturers with contact details from a good B2B website like http://www.hellotrade.com http://www.teonline.com (Clothing and Fibres) http://www.digitivity.com (Electronics and Electrical) http://www.fashionproducts.com (Fashion and Apparel) http://www.themedica.com (Medical and Hospital supplies) You can send free inquiry to any supplier from these B2B websites.

This depends on your printer model. HP cartridges tend to be on the expensive side at around $30, while some black Epson cartridges can be purchased for about $12. I prefer to use compatible and/or remanufactured cartridges because they are much, much cheaper. I d recommend that you consider purchasing cartridges online. Most retailers offer quot;free shippingquot; when you spend a certain amount - and given that you are looking for a case, you should qualify. I always use http://www.castleink.com

My mom and I just went and got black ink today at Best buy, I believe its about 20 bucks for 2 cartridges, just make sure you get it for the right kind of printer.

My wife and I are about a month away from opening an e-commerce website for selling printer ink. If you would like to get a quote on ink for your specific printer, please contact me at rick.herbst@yahoo.com

my printers black ink cost about 9 dollars and i get it at walmart.

I paid a bill on line last nighbut my printer did not work. How can I print the receipt today? -

The website where paid the bill has not updated so no proof that I paid. Can I find this in computer history?

Making a payment online is a secure transaction and more often than not you can t just navigate back to a url to retrieve a receipt page. You ll have to wait for the site to update. In the future it is possible to save a page s html and view and print it later. On your browser toolbar select File-gt;save as... and save it as a webpage or text file.

You must have paid by Credit Card or PayPal. THERE IS A RECORD. If the printer is working then you can print, if not the record of payment is still at the website.

How many watts in a voltage converter do I need to run an all-in-one Dell printer in France? -

Going to spend one year there and taking my laptop and my printer. Thanks for your help.

Hi Michelle, It should be on your printer. Look right above the the electrical cord, it will say 32w, 16w, 12w or similar. So 100 watts should be more than sufficient, since you wont use all 3 application at the same time. Loads of fun in France!

What is an advantage of using a solid-ink printer instead of an inkjet printer? -

It produces vivid color prints. It warms up quickly. The ink used is considerably cheaper. The used-ink cartridges can be refilled.

It produces vivid color prints.

When I print an article I find online the print is too small to read. How do I make it larger? ? -

I ve tried converting the article to Adobe and enlarging the print, but when it prints out it ignores the enlarged type and its the same as when I did it online.

Which version of Windows (including Service Pack #) and Internet Explorer are you running? Workaround for now: Click on File | Print Preview, it is probably set to default on quot;shrink to fitquot;. Change to 100% and send it to the printer.

How do you connect a hp 1115 printer to a dell vista computer? -

How can I print papers from computer to printer without being connected through USB? -

I have only ONE computer...which is in the living room. I have a printer in my other room. How can I send my files to the printer without it being connected to the computer?

if you get something like the airport from apple they are like 100 and that is also a wireless router so its a good deal if you ask me

either get a wireless print server or a wireless printer.

I do not think you can do so because you said you only have one pc and printer. You can only do so if you are connected into a network of computer like in an internet cafe wherein the computer you are using is on the same network with other computers + the server.

How do you change the ink on an epson DX7450 printer, I have lost the instruction booklet.? -

I don t know how to change the ink in my printer, the internet help manual is no use, it won t work. Does anyone know how to replace the ink.

How does the printable iron on paper stuff work? -

Ok so my friends and I are going to make T-shirts and think it would be cute to put a pic of us on it. Can you use a normal printer on the special paper? Whats the best paper if so? I have a HP Deskjet D1341...low quality but my friends have better ones...

Yes, you can use a normal printer with the iron on transfers. A picture will be much clearer on a white shirt. When you iron, do it on a hard surface. I fold a pillow case in half and put in on the kitchen counter. You must preheat your iron about 7 minutes at the highest setting without water. Then when you iron it on you must press hard especially the edges. Don t wash it for at least 3 days. Then wash it inside out, but no dryer. It will last longer. I have made 100 s!!!

Why is my laser printer printing blurry on the sides? -

I have an HP laserjet 1020 black and white printer that I have had for about a year. Just recently when it prints, both side margins are printing heavy and blurry. I thought the toner may be running low, but a new hp toner cartridge did not help. Any ideas?

The heads are probably dirty, you can clean them yourself with rubbing alcohol and a cloth that won t leave any fuzzies, but I strongly suggest taking it to a printer repair shop for a proper thorough cleaning

How much will Cartridge World give me for my cartridges? -

I have some old cartridges and I saw a sign outside of the Cartridge World store that said they buy them. I can use some extra money(struggling full time student). How much will they give you for one.

$1 a piece if they are the ones they want . Generally you get less for generic ones that you can buy for $4.95 from re-ink companies. But if they are empty originals from HP or Canon they are worth more.

How to get past the ink initialization stage on my printer? -

I bought a display model at cheap price. When I brought the unit( hp photosmart d7460) home it will not get past the initialization stage. I turned it on with the ink cartidges it came with nothing. Then I installed the new cartidges I bought also nothing! Help!

HP printers comes with host ink cartridges for first time initialization. I suggest since you bought this at a very affordable price. It s possible that this was an item that was returned. I suggest you go to the store and have it checked. Or if you ever purchase a printer, make sure you are inserting the ink cartridges at the store and make sure it is making a copy. To make sure that the hardware is working before you isntall the software

it was too cheap and has a problem that need a printer engineer. If it is a logic problem you may need to throw it away and cut your losses

How do you safely disconnect a printer from a MacBook? -

Im new to the mac world. PCs would yell at you if you simply pulled the USB cord out of the computer without safely disconnecting the printer first. Is there a way of safely disconnecting my printer for the MacBook when I want to take the laptop with me? Thank you.

No special care necessary. Just unplug amp; go.

Welcome to the world of Macs, the user friendly computer that will also do WinBloze. Just pull out the USB, you can do that with anything plugged into the USB ports.

yes, you can just pull it out if you want to make absolute sure, go to Finder and Eject the printer, or whatever is connected to your mac via USB plug

ya you can just yank it out. macs only yell out you if you remove storage devices like flash drives or external hard drives without ejecting them first.

Cheers

What is a normal life span of an epson ink jet printer? -

What is a normal life span of an epson ink jet printer? Such as the epson stylous c82. How long do they last before they need replacing? And is the epson stylous c82 even made or sold any more.

There is no such thing as a quot;normalquot; life span. It depends on the care you give it, the quality of the cartridges you use, and a certain amount of luck. You can find some tips on inkjet care here http://www.ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.as… I have some Epson printers going on about 8 years and others which didnt last that long. The C82 hasnt been manufactured in a long time. If you find someone selling it, I wouldn t buy it. Look at one of the new ones like the NX or Workforce series and get a year warranty.

My r200 and r220 gave me a service repair message, then they stopped working. It seems that there is an internal counter which can be reset. The purpose of this is that under the carriage there are waste pads which should be changed after a time. Of course that would require a service call. There is a work easier around of that by pulling out the drainage tube and putting it in a bottle. I did that about 2 years ago and I am fine.

I ve had some for 3+ years but it doesn t matter. New Epson printers are cheap, so it s easier to buy new than fix an old one. Go here for CISS ink. Get a CISS for your printer. It will save you TONS of MONEY, never change a cartridge again and it will pay for itself in a month. http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/

What is the best printer to make flyers? -

I need to make good quality flyers with a color laser printer. I been looking but I don t have idea what to get.

Have a look at some of the higher end HPs. I have an upper end office jet from them and - thankfully - its feature set was more than I was hoping for. I bet that HP would have something that would do what you intend to do.

I ve always liked HP and Xerox printers for their reliability (and avoid Lexmark since they are almost always being repaired at work) but as to a specific model, not sure that I have one for you. Are you making just a handful of flyers or is this something that you will continually do? If you don t need to do this frequently, it might make more sense to use a local print shop. The extra cost per print will easily be offset by purchasing and maintaining a high end commercial color laser printer.

Konica Minolta Is the best there it is.

How can I set up a printer to print over a home network? -

I have a wireless box hooked up to my internet and I d like to know if and how I can set up a printer so that I can print to it from my room. It s hooked to the computer in another room and I m not sure how to get it all set up. Can anyone run me through the exact steps if it s even possible? Thanks!

Just share the printer to the network. On the computer that the printer is connected to, fg to printers and faxes in the Control Panel. Right click on the installed printer and then select quot;Sharingquot;. Now just follow the onscreen instructions.

How do I stop printer from printing blank pages after each printed page? -

It just started doing this recently, so I don t know what I did. But it prints out 1 blank page between every sheet that I print. Its an HP Photosmart 7200 series. How do I get rid of this?? Help please!

Check the driver was set to the right paper size, also right click on the properties and advance on the printer , set the driver to print directly to the printer and check the printer processor is set to WINprint if using Windows

Check your document and put on the paragraph markings so that you can see all of the characters that are entered. If you only typed 1 page you might have added an extra return that kicked it over to 2 pages. Make sure you go to the end of the document and backspace to the point where you want printing to end.

What is the proper way to care for printer ink cartridges when you dont do a lot of printing? -

My printer does not print well if it has been sitting idle for a while. I m wondering if I should take the ink cartridges out if I know I won t be using it for a while. It s a Lexmark.

Lexmark does not make a bad printer most printers have this problem when you don t print a lot, you should be thank full it s not a epson where the cartridge sits on the print head and if that don t print put it to the curb. Just take your cartridges out of the machine after they have sat for a while boil some water, put a quarter of an inch of boiling water in a small container and dip the cartridge in and out of the boiling water so that just the bottom of the cartridge gets wet .you will see it start to bleed, now take a piece of paper towel fold it in half and dab the cartridge on it not in the same spot so you can see if it starts to bleed better, do it until you get a solid line of black and three solid colors with the color cartridge, now take a bit of 99% isopropyl alcohl and a q tip dipped into the alcohol turn the q tip side ways and rub the contcts board on the back of the cartrdge to clean it and evaporate any water that might got on them, than try it in the machine. Worked for me for 15 years. Want to be a tech haha. gl

Most commercial and industrial ink jet printers use a piezoelectric material in an ink-filled chamber behind each nozzle instead of a heating element. http://www.inkforprinters.org/ Report Abuse

Good luck, I hate that brand quot;Lexmarkquot;. My friend has one and it sucks. I have a HP printer and what I do when I m not using it is I keep it cover in plastic. I don t think taking the ink out is a good idea. Because if you put the cartridge back the printer may not read it.

I had ona of those $25 lexmarks and had endless probs. with ink. Junked it and got a epson. No probs now. I don t print real often but if don t print right just push nozzle clean and all is well.

Lexmark ink is prone to drying, much more so than any other brand. The best place for the cartridges to be is in the printer. When you power it down, you ll hear the noise of the padded waste ink reservoir adjusting to seal the printhead of the cartridges and keep them from being exposed to air. You might also try: Take a paper towel and wet it. Wring it out and place in a plastic container. Place the cartridges in the container, but not on the wet towel, because as it dries it would cause the ink to wick out onto the paper towel. Seal the container. Depending on how long you go without printing, you may need to re-moisten the paper towel. You might also have to move the container to the fridge if you are storing it in an area that is too warm. Warmth + Moisture = Mold. The fridge will keep the mold at bay.

What is the best multifunction printer to buy? -

I am looking for an affordable printer for my home/office.

Epson website. Clearance, I bought a CS9400Fax All-In-One for $55, free shipping with a 1 year warranty. If you decide on an Epson check this out before buying. The CISS will save you tons of money and you will almost never run out of ink. http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/
