When do you think we will invent a laptop with a built in printer? -

In many occasions I find myself wanting to print stuff that I have been working on my laptop. But I always have to go find a printer before I can continue my work. It would be very convinient if the printer was built into my laptop so I would just have to provide the paper and I would get what I want. Remember, the laptop would have to be a standard size, like the ones we use today. By when (year) do you think we could invent this?

Already been invented. It was invented and then didn t sell and died. I remember reading about it years ago.

maybe you should make a run for it and have it patent......could make you a millionaire!!!

Well if it had a printer on it, it wouldn t be much of LAPtop then would it? It would be more like a portable computer. And yes, there is a difference, you don t want a portable computer on your lap.

Canon made one a few years ago... but it didn t take the market by storm and it died as an idea. As far as I remember it was in the fast-486 days, so it isn t up to moderm software.

the laptop would be highly portable and lightweight ? Why don t you suggest this to HP 1-800-HPINVENTS

we already have one but its about 2-3in bigger than the average laptop but probably in a year they will haveit average size

Interesting idea. THIS IDEA IS NOW OFFICIALLY COPYRIGHT BY ME. haha suck i will make millions! bahahahaha actually they kind of do already, except they aren t attached to the laptop WHICH IS A GOOD THING! They are these mini printers which are about the length of a piece of paper and about as wide and deep as a laptop computer. They are tiny!

there is really no point, it would be a peice of ****, and when it breaks u would have to open the whole laptop up.

How to install my new printer? -

I just bought a used printer from someone on craigslist and she didn t have the disc with it anymore. Now I have it at home and don t know how to install it. The computer tried to do it automatically without success. Is there a website I could get this from or do I need to order a disc from the manufacture?

the manufacture like hp,dell, okidata, brother etc... has the drivers on their websites.

Check with your seller whether the used printer is in working condition. If yes, plug in and on the printer and download the device driver from the printer manufacturer website.

just get the model and then go to manufacturer s website, they will have a download file to be able to install

How do you spot the difference between an original document and a colour photocopied one? -

Look for the watermark on the original paperwork or the toner on photocopies can often smudge

With a good copier there is no difference. If you have both, you can look at the background for noise (stray dots) which the copier may have introduced but, since a printer can do that as well, it only works as a comparison, not an absolute measure. If the original is signed, you should be able to detect that. Ball point and roller ball pens indent the paper. Fountain and felt tip pens ink will be absorbed by the paper. If the original is on special paper you should be able to see that as well. A watermark will be embedded in the paper and will be visible when you shine light through the paper. An engraved letterhead s ink will be raised above the paper.

It would usually depend on the importance of the document. For example most insurance companies will have two sided paper! If the back of the paper doesn t fit then the chances are that the front is a copy! If you are in any doubt you speak to the originator of the paperwork and they will sort it out for you.

i think it is like money certain documents will have the water mark in the paper i,m pretty sure this is the way but it only an idea if i was on millionaire i,d be goin 50/50 or home wi a grand

Hairs, dirt, crumbs, and scratches all show up on the copy, sometime if the document was curled or folded dark areas appear, getting darker the further the paper was from the screen. To determine between xerox and ink add a drop of water, if it bleeds (runs) its ink, if it doesnt its xerox. Photocopier often use xerox, printers (espiacially small home ones) often use ink.

burn it, if its a copy it won t matter but if its the original your f****d

it depends the quality of the photocopy, since u might notice smudging eg around the letters. if your talking about a handwrote docuement, there will be impact on the paper where the person was writing.

How can I resolve my computer to recognize my printer? -

My computer won t recognize my printer. It s a HP PSC 1310 or 1315 printer, it worked before and was fine, but now my computer just won t recognize it for some reason. Can anyone help me resolve this, thank you!!

Try to reinstall the printer software or to get a newer version of that driver.

The best thing for you to do is probably uninstall and reinstall the drivers and software. Go to HP s quot;Support and Driversquot; section and press the button that says quot;Start Detectionquot;. You may need to download the ActiveX, just follow the directions. When it installs on your quot;cquot; drive, take note of the location where it is installed so that you can go back to it (on my computer it installed to quot;C:\temp\FixEngine\{A06E6617-DB3F-4946-A… folder). When it asks you to uninstall, uninstall and restart the computer (restarting the computer is very important after you uninstall, otherwise when you install next, it probably won t work right). After restarting the computer, go to the location that you took note of earlier (where the quot;FixEnginequot; folder is and the folder with the wierd number), of the FixEngine software and double-click the application file, then just follow the directions for reinstalling.

it might have had its days, it only can print a limited amount of charactors then you have to trade it in for a new one, high stores will always welcome you because the update the chip in your old printer and use it on new ones

if u google it ull fund wat y need.i had the same prob with my laptop bein a toshiba and my printer being lexmark thats all i did and it worked....should take no more then 10 min...

How can I use my printer without installing the CD to my laptop? -

I have a HP Deskjet 3745 printer and I want to print something but I lost my CD to install the printer to my new laptop. Is there a way I can use the printer without installing the CD?

Some printers come with self install software or just work anyways. Plug in the usb cable, wait to see if anything pops up. I just have to connect the comp. and printer with usb and I m good to go. Hope this works for you.

go to hp.com and download the software for you printer.

you have to install the software taht came with the pritner or it will not work...you can find the software that came on it on HP s website and download it..look under their support or drives page and match up what you have

u can use a usb network cable or just set them both up as a network with a cross over cable then alls u have to do is plug in and unplug the cable when u want to use the printer. That would be the easiest way not hard to do.

How to connect a HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer to a wireless network? -

Yes I need help doing this, It seems that I have everytyhing right, I went into control pannel and printer settings, i have the printer as sharing but i can t find it on other computers. Can anyone help me?

You have to set up the printer driver of the printer you setting up by using the add printer utility on each computer. It as two options local and network printer use network printer. Help and Support section willl walk you through this in windows. Take your time. Consider buying a print server.

Does anyone know how to hook up multiple computers to one printer? -

My main computer has a printer hook up to it. But how can I hook my labtop up to that printer so that I can hit print from my labtop and it print out from the printer?

You need a print server for example, look at the first couple items on this search http://shopping.yahoo.com/search?p=print… you can pick one up for $40-$60 and they are very easy to hook up There are cheaper ways, but you have to have high technical skills You can get a wireless print server too if you want to print directly from the laptop to the printer using wireless

On your laptop, go to: Printers and Faxes gt; Add a printer gt; Next gt; A network printer or a printer attached to another computer gt; Next gt; Browse for Printer gt; Next. When the printer is found, continue the wizard to complete the process. Just make sure that the printer is set to the default printer on the laptop, or it won t print to that printer if you just hit the print button. **You need a home network set up for this to work..... or at least stay working......

geek squad does! call them! lolol

im not sure how but my computer is like that.

Right click on the Printer on the your main computer and go to sharing and enable it and click ok now go to your laptop and look of it on the network you must have a network in order of it to work. when you find it right click on it and click connect that should help you

The computers have to be networked together. It s enough if you have them both hooked up to a router, wired or wireless or both. Then you would just go to the computer that the printer is hooked up to, go to printers in control panel, right click the printer and select share. Then on the system the printer is not hooked to, go to printers in control panel and select add printer, then follow the prompts and indicate a network printer and windows will find it.

You can do it easily if you have a local network You can either connect your printer to the router or share it through one of the computers.. Check this out: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using…

You need to quot;turn onquot; the Microsoft file and print sharing functions, and set the printer properties to quot;sharedquot;. You will need to have a switch or a router, Wireless is better. Then just install the print drivers on the laptop as a network printer and go for it.

when you connect your printer to your computer you can set up a home network and share the printer with any other computer(s) on your network if you have wireless printer or a network printer or a printer server that will also work. so you would be able to print over your network form wireless laptops or desktops.

How do you fix a printer paper tray? -

I accidentally knocked half of my paper tray off the hinges! I have a Kodak ESP 3 All-in-one printer and wanted to know how to fix it w/out using superglue. One of the hinges are still attached but the other one flew off in another direction and I can t find it. Is their anywhere I can buy another hinge? Need help immediately, it s a brand new printer.

Here is where you can contact KODAK support directly. You have several options. On line chat, email or telephone (There will probably be a charge for telephone support) I would use the online chat or email myself

Ebson printer: How do you use the hypodermic and ink to refill the ink cartridge? -

Any ideas on how to do it? I have the hypo and the ink just don t know how to go about it. Thanks

The person who said without a chip re-setter refills wont work in Epson s is correct. I have a Canon with chipped cartridges that I refill, but I have a chip re-setter and so the printer thinks I have put in new cartridges everytime I refill. Type into the search engine in the link below, your printer make and model - not cartridge numbers - and that should tell you how to fill them or if they can be filled and will tell you which chip re-setter you will need to buy as there are lots of different ones for Epsons. http://www.jettecrefill.com/

I assume you mean Epson. Do you have a chip resetter? If not, your cartridge will not work. The chip needs to be reset in order to work, otherwise your printer will not recognize the cartridge, therefore, not print. And with Epson, you can t just stick the needle in to fill it. I would recommend getting a replacement from a local store or online (http://www.carrotink.com, http://www.samedayinkjet.com are a few examples)

How do I standardize the type of fax machine to be used at the office? -

i already have an idea on this, like on the quantity of documents received per day, the cost benefits of each type (thermal vs. plain paper), and perhaps the need to store permanent records of files. may i have your opinions on what other criteria should i use to standardize the types of fax used in the workplace? (i would prefer suggestions on when should we use plain paper fax)

If I understand your premise correctly, you need to know the criteria needed to make an intelligent fax machine choice for your workplace... If so, I suggest (in order of importance): 1) Initial cost of the unit. 2) The quality of the documents received/sent. 3) The quantity of the documents. 4) The size of the documents vs. the machine s speed. 5) Cost of maintenance (including cartridges for plain paper) 6) Cost of paper (Thermal vs standard) 7) Importance of long-term hardcopy storage (thermal will fade, regardless of the care in storage) 8) Color v. Gray Scale (B/W) Personally, I would never use a thermal fax. Yes, no ink or cartridges, but the paper (at least here) is more expensive and the documents do not hold up as long. I hope I helped!

Is it better/cheaper to get a laser or refillable inkjet printer for my home network? -

I know that it cost less to produce a copy from a laserjet printer, but I ve become good at filling those inkjet cartridges plus Walgreen s and others offer inexpensive refills. So, I was wondering which kind of printer would be good for my home network. Also, I have a tiny home business and I have to print clothing tags on light cardboard. Do you know how I figure out which printer would do this?

You can buy laserjet cartridges for a song on ebay, and they generate anwhere from 750 to 1500 pages. If you are only printing tags, maybe an eighth of a page, you d be looking at 12000 tags maximum. An inkjet printer will generate maybe 100 pages per cartridge, for a total of around 800 tags maximum. The cost effectiveness of a laser is obvious.

Is it possible to make the HP Color Laserjet 2600n print through a wireless connection? -

I love my 2600n, but it is a big, unwieldy, ugly printer. I d like to hide it in my closet and print from there without running cords through my home office. Are there any adapters available that could render the 2600n quot;wirelessquot;? I have a Linksys broadband router.

Of course. You can get a wireless print server. They are easy to set up. Check these out: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/…

How do you print on photo paper? -

I have an HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One printer-fax-scanner-copier and i want to print photos onto 4x6 photo paper from iphoto on a macintosh/apple computer. How do i print them without the white border? Please explain step-by-step. Thank you!

A driver update may be necessary and the instructions for printing borderless photos are provided below.

Photo Prints - http://photoartomation.com/Print_Finishing/Photo%20Print.html Poster Prints - http://photoartomation.com/Print_Finishing/Poster%20Print.html Wall Plaque - http://photoartomation.com/Print_Finishing/Wall%20Plaque.htm Report Abuse

The printer must be capable of printing with no borders. You will have to research yours to find out.

What happens to a laser printer when you use photo paper? -

I did it to mine and the company said I have to get it professionally repaired. Did I screw up?

It will come put very nice... but it ll bends the paper. This happens because when the paper it taken into the printer, the printer circles it like 2 times, which that causes it to bend when coming out.

I thinkin like wicked witch of the west im melting!!!!

hide it from the cops, with lasers

Sorry to tell you this, but yes you did screw up. Typical photo paper you buy in IT shops are meant for inkjet. They will usually state that on the packaging too, that it is meant for inkjet printers. These papers have a special layer of chemical coatings to absorb ink so that the inkjet inks can be mixed to give you that brilliant hue. This is also why inkjet printers produce more realistic photo colors than lasers. The laser printer uses toner, which is then pressed and melted in the last step of the printing process. That is why the paper comes out warm. When you put photo paper into the laser printer, the fuser probably melted the chemical coating on the photo paper and glued itself all over. Depending on which type of laser printer you have, the fuser may be replaceable or the whole thing may have to be changed. Depending on what they are charging you, it might be better to buy a new printer altogether. Next time, you should look out specifically for laserjet paper (they have different types of good quality paper for lasers). Usually, they are thicker, brochure type materials... but generally not inkjet photo paper.

What do you know about the Kodak Easyshare 5100 Printer? -

I am needing an new printer and I ve found one of these for a reasonable price and to my understanding the ink is cheap. Does anybody have a clue about this printer?

Hey there! Well, when getting cameras, laptops, printers and such, I find it useful to go on amazon.com for customer reviews on the product. From the link I found: (http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-EASYSHARE-51… not too many people liked this printer. It got 2/5 stars on average out of 18 reviews. Briefly scanning through it, it seems that many people had trouble setting it up properly and complain about the size and noise generated. However, this guy eventually called the support people and got a very helpful step-by-step walk through and successfully installed everything. and is quite satisfied with the colour, photo printing, scanning and copying. Yup it s true that the ink is cheap though some believe that the hassle kinda out weighs the benefit. Oh yeah, quite a few also compared this one to HP printers, complaining that they re both really bad. What brand was your old printer? In case this helps in anyway, I m using the Canon Pixma MP150 all-in-one. It s been well-used by my whole family for the past 3-4 years. It has no problem scanning and photo printing. Just takes a while to make sure all the printer settings are just right. What are you looking out for by the way? 1) price and maintenance? 2) quality? [edit] By the way, searching on amazon these are a couple of popular all-in-ones: Brother: http://www.amazon.com/Brother-MFC-790CW-… Canon: 1) http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Pixma-MP240-… 2) http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Pixma-Office… HP: http://www.amazon.com/HP-Photosmart-C314…

What the HEdouble hockey sticks is refurbished ink? Can they do that? Is it as good as regular new ink? -

I saw re-furbished ink online. It was alot cheaper than the new ink. I have bought electronics that are refurbished and they worked great. Is ink comparable to electronics?

It is possible and often done. Using refurbished ink cartridges has the potential to mess up your printer. If you have a run of the mill $40 desktop printer that is easy to replace if it breaks it might be worth it. If you don t want to have to deal with the possibility of jacking up your printer, use new ink.

refurbished ink means that they just refilled one of the old cartridges.I know some places you send in or take your old cartridge to the store and exchange it for a refilled one at a discounted price.I have heard good and bad about the refurbished ones.

How do I set up a wireless printer in a small office? Do I need to attach something to the printer? -

not sure how to get the computer to recognize the printer. using Mac laptops and xerox brand printer.

This answer assumes that the Printer is a true wireless printer and does not need to be physically connected to your network but can connect to the network wireless. Mac or PC they work the same way. Set up the Wireless printer as per the instructions that came with it. Then you will need to install the software to the printer so that it becomes a device on the network. Just like a laptop or other network device. You do this via the software that came with the printer, by putting the CD in a computer and running the software. The software will tell you step by step what to do and when to connect the cable. You will need a USB cable from the computer to the printer. (ONE TIME SETUP ONLY) You will need to know the name of your network and the WEP key if one is required for your network. Once connected the printer will become a device on the network, and the USB cable can be removed. So the printer is entirely wireless. Then you simply add that wireless printer to each laptop. Just like you do any wired network printer. Normally as a Local Printer with a TCP/IP port It will ask for the printer name or IP address. Your laptop will probably find the printer if you do a search for plug and play devices during the printer install process, have the printer install disk in the computer so that the computer can install the correct print drivers from the disk. If you set it as the default printer in the computer when you hit the print button it will print just like it was connected via a wire.

Do you have mac based drivers for the printer (that being said, is the printer mac compatible?). If your answer is yes, then you have two options. IF your printer has a LAN port, you can simply connect the printer via ethernet cable to your wireless router (as long as your router is set to automatically assign every connection an IP using HDCP, otherwise you ll have to set that up yourself). At that point, you can just connect to the wireless network with your laptop and add the printer as a network printer. For most new printers, you can load the printer drivers from the printer itself. The second option is more of a work-around but it works in the same principal. Connect the printer to a desktop that is on the network. Go to the printer page and click on the printer. Go into it s options and set as quot;sharedquot;. From there, you go about adding the printer the same way as mentioned above.

Does the printer have an internal wireless card or a wireless adapter? If not you ll need one for the router amp; pc to see it. Until then you can always use a cable until you get the adapter

Probably something into the USB hub, check if there was something with the printer. Or try to search bluetooth for devices if it s a bluetooth printer.

What is a good printer that doesnt cost an arm and a leg to refill? -

I use those refill packages you get and that helps me save $ but I was wondering can you also refill a laser printer with toner and would that be cheaper? Let me know how to save money as we print out a lot of paper. Whats the best printer and why? Thanks!

No you can not refill a toner cartridge, first of all you do not want to do it, the problem with this is the toner dust, when a company recycles them they put all new parts and also a new doctor blade, it is also a controlled environment, breathing in the toner dust is deadly and if you breath it in it does not come out of your system, search for a toner cartridge recycling company on line, hope this helped and good luck.

The new Kodak easyshare printer allows you to print about 75% more sheets per cartridge than any other printer.

Where does all the stuff that I empty in my recycling bin go? -

Please do not use special termonology I am not a professional at computers. Also Is there a way of getting that file that I have emptied from the recycle bin back? If yes then How? Thanks.

When you empty the recycle bin, your files are erased from your hard drive. This means they are not able to be retrieved using the conventional methods on your system. Cheers, Ron Windows Outreach Team

You can sometimes easily restore them from the recycling bin, but if you have emptied to recycling bin then you can not get them back only with special programmes to retrieve them. If you go into your recycle bin there should be an option to restore the items. This items explains better. http://www.infopackets.com/news/software…

When a file is deleted, nothing accualy happens except the computer marks the as overwritable, so - it is possible with an undelete program to get it back. I don t have any recommendations, but a quick web search should find some free programs.

nowhere look for file recovery utility in freeware it may get it back for you

What is wrong with my Lexmark wireless printer? -

I have a wireless printer and only way it would work is if I have router. My roomate has a computer, and because mine is a laptop I have to work off her route. It is all hooked up to her computer but is not working from mine. It is working, of course, on hers. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be?

Not knowing exactly which model you have the following is a general explanation on the way most wireless printers work. Wireless printers still have a USB port to connect directly to a computer via the USB, and that has nothing to do with the wireless connection. If it s connected to your roommate s computer, you must have used the USB cable to do this and installed the local drivers on your roommate s computer. To use the Printer wireless, it need to on your wireless network. - Your router(properly called a router/switch) need to be a wireless router in order to communicate with the wireless devices. I m going to assume that you already have a wireless router because you have a laptop and I m assuming you re getting online through the wireless router. What you need to do is: 1- disconnect the USB cable from the printer. 2- Have your roommate go into the router settings and make sure the printer is connected wirelessly to the network. 3- Install the network drivers from the install disk that came with the printer. This program will install drivers, seek out the printer on the network and add it to you list of available printers. Feel free to e-mail me if you need additional assistance. Good luck!

What is the paper weight of envelopes in Avery Ink Jet 3265 card packages? -

Have used this card paper with my old HP photosmart 1000 printer . My new printer H P Photosmart D7360 prints the card s fine ,but will not print the envelopes.H P tech support says probably the paper weight of the envelopes is to great, but have not been able to find the envelope wieghts. The old printer printed the envelopes fine.

I would guess them to be 20 or 24 pound. Take one to a local printer and ask them. They ll be able to say for sure.

How do I know if my printer is compatible with Windows Vista? -

I am considering purchasing a laptop with Windows Vista, but I have a HP PSC1400 printer I would like to use with it. How do I know if my printer is compatible with Vista?

It is. The entire 1400 series uses the same Vista driver, so you can download it at the following link. Just save it amp; run it on the new PC (before you plug in your printer).

I have a PSC1400 too, just download the new driver from their site with Vista support http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_… Hope this helps amp; good luck,

Probably not. But you may be able to download new drivers.

go to the printer website and look for your answer. chances are they have developed a driver to make it compatible.

Usually the latest version of windows may be compatible to more printers, the difference is just the drivers. From my experience, win vista has very little difference from XP in terms of its drivers and utilities, where if you have the printer s cd, you can just install it and it will work fine.

Go to www.hp.com - look for support and drivers and put your printer model. you can also do a regular search for it. Once you find your printer on their site, see if they have drivers for Windows Vista. If they don t, they may say that drivers are built into Vista. The best thing is to read on the page for your printer.... I couldnt find a 1400, but I found a psc1401... (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1103491amp;lc=enamp;cc=usamp;dlc=enamp;submit.y=0amp;submit.x=0amp;lang=enamp;cc=us) It seems to indicate that drivers are available for Vista and your printer should work. However, you may want to call HP and talk to a sales person. Tell them you are planning on buying a new computer (HP of course) and want to know if your HP printer is FULLY compatible with Vista. Sometimes all-in-ones or specialty printers work at a basic level and miss out on special features, simply because drivers are not 100% ready.
