Does anyone know how to hook up multiple computers to one printer? -

My main computer has a printer hook up to it. But how can I hook my labtop up to that printer so that I can hit print from my labtop and it print out from the printer?

You need a print server for example, look at the first couple items on this search http://shopping.yahoo.com/search?p=print… you can pick one up for $40-$60 and they are very easy to hook up There are cheaper ways, but you have to have high technical skills You can get a wireless print server too if you want to print directly from the laptop to the printer using wireless

On your laptop, go to: Printers and Faxes gt; Add a printer gt; Next gt; A network printer or a printer attached to another computer gt; Next gt; Browse for Printer gt; Next. When the printer is found, continue the wizard to complete the process. Just make sure that the printer is set to the default printer on the laptop, or it won t print to that printer if you just hit the print button. **You need a home network set up for this to work..... or at least stay working......

geek squad does! call them! lolol

im not sure how but my computer is like that.

Right click on the Printer on the your main computer and go to sharing and enable it and click ok now go to your laptop and look of it on the network you must have a network in order of it to work. when you find it right click on it and click connect that should help you

The computers have to be networked together. It s enough if you have them both hooked up to a router, wired or wireless or both. Then you would just go to the computer that the printer is hooked up to, go to printers in control panel, right click the printer and select share. Then on the system the printer is not hooked to, go to printers in control panel and select add printer, then follow the prompts and indicate a network printer and windows will find it.

You can do it easily if you have a local network You can either connect your printer to the router or share it through one of the computers.. Check this out: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using…

You need to quot;turn onquot; the Microsoft file and print sharing functions, and set the printer properties to quot;sharedquot;. You will need to have a switch or a router, Wireless is better. Then just install the print drivers on the laptop as a network printer and go for it.

when you connect your printer to your computer you can set up a home network and share the printer with any other computer(s) on your network if you have wireless printer or a network printer or a printer server that will also work. so you would be able to print over your network form wireless laptops or desktops.
