How do I create hardware profiles for different printers? -

I have a laptop that travels with me. I use one type of printer at the office and another type at home. I want to have a different default printer for each hardware profile. I noticed that printers are not listed in device manager for enabling/disabling, etc. Can I just go into each hardware profile (by restarting my PC and selecting it) and specify the preferred default printer in the Printers and Faxes area of Control Panel?

Log in using particular profile name. Go to START - SETTINGS - PRINTER amp; FAXES You would see all the printers installed in your laptop. Right click on the desired printer. Select Det as Default Printer Again Right click on the Selected printer. Select Properties Click Printing Preferences Set the default settings you require. Happy printing !

How do you get a test print out of a HP Deskjet 720c without a computer? -

I work for a Cartridge World and I was working on some HP 23s when I went to the printer to get a test print, I could not figure out how to do it. Please, someone help me out.

HP Deskjet 710c and 720c series printers Running a self-test 1. Turn the printer on. 2. Press and hold the POWER button. 3. Press the RESUME button four times. 4. Release the POWER button. This may need to be performed several times before the printer prints the page. NOTE: There are no internal clean or diagnostic tests for the HP Deskjet 710c and 720c series printers. The clean test can be performed from the printer s toolbox.

How do you print a document on two printers at the same time? -

I have two printers and a hub. When I go to print set-up it asks me to choose one of the printers. How do i choose both?

You can not. You can only select one at a time.

You can t select both. Why would that be useful? Print to one, then the other.

How can you make this affect with your printer? -

The affect where you can print it out looking like you just got film on a camera developed. I heard you have to put some numbers in or something like that. Please help, I need this, and you can give me a site that just says it also. Thanks!

quot;Negativequot; is the effect you want. It s usually done in a graphics program such as corel draw, or photoshop (elements), etc Open image, select the tool for quot;NEGATIVEquot; print NOTE; most NEGATIVE images will use a LOT of ink !

How can I stop a received e-mail address from printing on a separtate page from the message? -

This takes 3 pages of paper when one will do if the address and the message print on the same page.

The easiest thing to do is copy and paste into a text file! 2nd choice would be to select which pages you want to print: File gt; Print Preview It s Windows for gosh, sake, there are probably 10 other ways to do it using function keys, ctrl, alt variations, etc! §§

How do I get my windows computer to print to a lexmark Z23 printer through a USB hub? -

I m tired of having to unplug my printer cable from my USB hub and plug it directly into my notebook computer every time I want to print! How do I configure windows XP to make to print from a Belkin 1.1 USB Hub? Is it because the hub is USB V. 1.1 and the printer is USB V. 2.0?

Assuming that your Lexmark printer driver are installed, look in your control panel, devices and make sure that your USB hub driver is properly loaded. If the driver is loaded correctly it should work correctly if not look for the proper drivers from your USB hub manufacturer. Check out: http://www.online-discountshop.com/

the different USB shouldn t be an issue except for speed. Is the printer compatible to be a network printer?? Cause thats what you trying to make it be. If the driver can be up graded then fine. Technically it should wiork but if you buy a network printer then your problem will be solved, I have a printer connected to one pc and to print from my other pc i just have to have both pc s turned on and sharing my network. I am thinking maybe crossover cables may work??

You must have a 2.0 hub - higher numbers = more power needed BTW Brad is spamming same site

How to hook up printer to my laptop? -

I have an Insprion 1525, and i have been trying to hook up my dell printer. I installed the software, that didn t work. Then i added a printer, and it won t print, it says irrcorrect port deteched, whatever that means. Can someone please help me? Thanks in advance!

Which printer? (model #) What Operating system are you running? How is the printer connected? USB? Network? Wireless? Will watch for additional details and will update then. ***Update*** Did you run the install program off the Printer CD or did you just plug the printer in and when the Add/New Hardware wizard came up you just pointed it to the CD? Personally I have found the setup program that comes on CD from the manufacturer (canceling out of the Add New Hardware Wizard) works the best. I would suggest removing the printer from the control panel. Unplugging the USB cable and rebooting the computer. Download the drivers from Dell s website and run the setup program, plugging the USB cable back in when instructed to do so. http://support.dell.com/support/download…

Have you tried getting the printer drivers from the Dell web site. Sometimes the web site has new updated drivers that aren t on the CD they give you.

What brand of printers is best to buy? -

I am planning to get a new printer, I would like to have a printer that can scan, print, photocopy, and even fax. But I am not sure which brand to buy and is it good to have a versatile multifunction machines for homes...So,what s your suggestion?

buy one that lasts the longest, is the cheapest and easiest, gives the best quality, for the least amount of money i have a multi-function printer with scanner, printer, copier, amp; fax too and loved it for over 3 years. Brother 5440-CN. $100. i buy ink refill kits. cost me $40 for 3 years. 10 point please :)

Consumer Reports lists several Canon printers at or near the top of its listing of quot;All-inOnesquot;: Pixma MP800, MP950, and MP450, in that order. The 800 is somewhat better than the 450, and cheaper than the 950, but all are rated Excellent in total quality. Others near the top of the list are the Epson Stylus Photo RX700 (not just for photos) and CX7800, both Very Good, and the HP Photosmart 3210 and 2575, both Excellent. If you want the best bang for the buck, the Canon MP450 is listed at $150, one of CU s three quot;Quick Picksquot;. (It may not fax as such, but you can easily get faxing software that will do the job through your computer.)

you must take HP brand printer. it is easy to use amp; low maintainers. i already using it

HP makes decent all in one printers. One caution, though, is that all in one devices tend to not be as good at the individual functions as a standalone device would be. But they are usually a cheap solution to get everything in one package. For printing in particular, if you don t print a lot, whatever you get, make sure the printer is laser technoloty, because otherwise, you will spend a fortune on ink carts that dry up before you use them up.

anything that isnt a lexmark.

I have used H-P printers for years, with good results.

This is a bit like asking what is the best car? - best is highly dependent on your particular needs and preferences. Since you say you want scan/print/copy/fax functions, my answer is that you need three machines, a printer, a scanner and a fax/copy machine. But thats just me - I don t like all-in-one machines. I ve heard of too many people having problems with them. Besides the fact that I don t want to lose the use of my printer if my fax machine breaks, and vice versa. I m a big believer in single function peripherals, even if they do take up more desk real estate. For printers, though, I prefer HP. I think they have the best photo quality of all the low cost printers, although Cannon is very good, too. But Cannon is also a lot more expensive, I would not really consider them to be a low cost printer.

I have the HP all-in-one and it prints, scans, copys and faxes it great!!!

How do I make my HP printer print in black using the color cartridge? -

I ran out of black ink and was wondering if I could instruct the printer to make a similar color of black using the colored ink cartridge?

This actually depends on the printer. ( I wish I knew the exact model) If it says out of ink for black and you cannot proceed because the printer screen keeps saying out of ink then you may have to install a new black ink cartridge. Printers are intelligent this days that it won t do anything else unless you address its need. Most printers that are out of black ink and would still print is automatically using the color combination to produce so called black.

Most colour cartridges only have 3 colours in them - cyan (aqua), magenta (pink), and yellow. If your black cartridge is separate, the best you can do is to choose to print in another very similar colour which requires mixing of several of the inks. That way, you ve got your best bet of getting the darkest colour possible without black ink. Dark brown s always worth a try, as it is a result of mixing all three colours... but really, you re going to need to buy a new black cartridge.

If you use the color cartridge to print black it comes out a dirty brown/green as the colors do not blend perfectly. Most printers will NOT print using just the color, or will ONLY print the color sections.

How do you install a lexmark 4126 printer with out the cd? -

I have a lexmark 4126-003 printer and do not have the cd. I need to know how to install this with out the cd.

if you have windows vista just go windows update and it will find the software for you (first connect the priner and turn it on or it wont work)

go to lexmark.com and download the software...

I think you forgot details on your printer model. the 4126-003 is not listed at Lexmark website. there is a 4216-010, 4216-20 amp; 4216-30 you can check it out on the link below (click on all, and go to the next page). if you can identify it, click on the model and it ll take to the page where you can download the correct drivers that later you can install on your pc. http://support.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/sele…

Just go to lexmark.com and download the drivers. Plug your printer in and you are set.

How do I plug in a printer to the computer? -

My printer is on and working except how do I get one of my computers to read it and allow documents from a certain computer to be printed on it?

Defining a shared printer on another computer is somewhat easier. Start by going to the Control Panel on the computer which has no printer and se-lecting Printers and Faxes, then Add Printer. You will be presented with a Wiz-ard for installing it. Make sure you select Network printer when presented with that option and if you don’t know the printer name (on the computer which con-nects to the printer), then click on Browse. You should have written down the printer name from the other computer, however. While browsing through the network, find the computer which has the printer, right click on the printer and click on Properties. Make sure the option to share this printer is selected by go-ing to the Share tab. Since both computers now know that you want to share the printer, it is ready for printing. One caution however. The computer and printer and must remain ON in order for others to use it. If turned off, the network assumes you have no printer. The same holds true for sharing documents or other objects. The computer housing them has to be ON in order for others to access them. So what happens if you sell that printer, or install another one on the com-puter housing the shared printer? Then you have to go through that printer defi-nition again, making sure you define that printer as a shared printer when you install it.

How do I change two home computers and one printer from wired to wireless? -

You ll need wireless NICs in both computers, and one in the printer as well, if it s network-capable. If the printer s not network-capable you ll have to live with a USB cable from one of the computers to the printer. You ll also need to replace your current router with a wireless router if your current router doesn t have wireless built in. Once you ve invested in about $200 to $250 worth of new hardware and finished getting it set up, you ll have traded in those two or three nasty wires for a reduction in speed, a reduction in reliability and a reduction in security. In other words, don t do it if you don t have to.

1st you need to ensure the printer has a usb port amp; is capable. Simplest way: get a wireless router amp; 3 wireless adapters. If you have Verizon or any other ISP that supports wireless, sign-up amp; get the router from them. Then if you need support, they are only a phone call away

How to make my printer print with no color ink, just black? -

I am trying to print a document on Microsoft Word, but it is not letting me because the color ink cartridges are empty, but black is fine. But I don t need color. Is there a way to make it possible to print? My printer is a Epson Stylus C88+.

Try this: 1. Click CTRL/P to bring up the printer dialog box. 2. Click the Properties button. 3. Click the Color tab. 4. Select Print in Grayscale. 5. Click OK. Hope that helps.

Ok, when you want to print something, like on a website, either highlight what you want, andright click and choose quot;Print...quot; and then choose Preferences, then Color Tab, and then choose Print in Gray Scale, and then Choose Black Cartridge.

You need to go into the printer setup (usually File gt; Print gt; then Properties) and find a quot;print grayscalequot; option hidden in the tabs. Most (all?) HP s have this. Your Epson probably does as well. May have to dig for it.

How do I get a document to clear from my printer? -

I have a document I cancelled and can t get it to delete from the printer so I can Print something else!

Go in the printer folder and open it. Click on your printer and in the file menu, select delete all documents. If it doesn t work Un-install all the printer drivers because it may be corrupted. I have seen that happen. Unplug the USB cable from the printer and power it on. Now install the printer andre-connect the usb cable only when it tells you to. Let if finish setup and REBOOT the computer. Windows will tell you it found the printer and it will work now. Nothing else to do but open your word processor and enjoy.

Can I use a router as a printer server in order to print wirelessly? -

I have an old wireless router. Can I use this as a printer server in order to print without having to plug my printer directly into my pc? My pc(well iMac) already has a built in wireless adaptor (Airport Extreme).

Maybe = a lot of wireless routers have printer ports Go have a look - it should be either a standard USB socket or one of those little squarish USB sockets (like the one on your USB printer) Then RTFM (the Manual will detail how to install it)

You have to have a network printer. That is, the printer has to be able to be able to run directly from a router instead of a computer. Repost and specify your printer make/model and your router.

no i dont think u can. u can however, if our printer can be setup to be remote through wireless, connect your printer to your desktop and share it, though a network and u can access it with your laptop.

Yes it is possible to plug a printer into a hub. As long as the hub has the right sockets and the printer has the right connectors, then try it and see.

No i dont think you can sorry

How do I change the language on my printer? -

I have an Epson Stylus CX 7400. For some reason the language on the thing is set to French. I need to switch it back to english, but I can t read the French, so I don t know which boxes to click! I hope that wasn t too confusing. Thanks for your help.

Look on line for the manual and set up guide. You could also try un-installing and reinstalling the printer, this time setting the language on it to English. I can do this with mine but it is not an Epson so I don t know if Epson s set the language on the control panel of the printer or during the installation stage. Other than that, contact Epson and ask them to instruct you through it.

I could not find a solution to your problem, therefore I suggest you contact Epson directly. You can Email them and they will Email you back instructions on how to change the language or you can call them direct. Go to this website to Email or get phone numbers for tech support: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/suppo…

you have to go to settings right on the printer and then you can change it ti english.

How can I get my printer to print color again after not using it for over a year-replaced cartridge and did al? -

as I was saying I already replaced the color cartridge and ran it thru all the print tests and nozzle cleaning-still nothing. Is there something to clean manually with peroxide or something?

First, make sure you took out the plastic leak preventing tab out of the cartridge. If that does not work make sure it is installed correctly. Many printers have menu screens on the printer itself and when you change the cartridge you have to input that into the printer menu. Last thing that I can think of is if you have got a new computer or reformatted your hard drive you may need to reinstall your printer drivers

just remove the catridge and dump in a can of hot water for 5 min and dry it up and start re using

The jet or whatever could be dried up. Its probably more cost effective to buy another one.

What to do in order to buy a good laser printer? -

I would not like it to cause me any problem in the future.

To be completely honest with you I have had the best luck overall with hp laser printers. Depending on what you are looking for you can get either a black and white printer for a couple of hundred or a color laser for a bit more. That s just my two cents.

With laser printers, regardless of the brand name (for all will produce good models, and all will produce duds) the more you spend on a unit that has the features you want, the better it will be. Seriously. If you are purposely trying to find the most inexpensive color laser printer on the market, and justify it working for you... your expectations would be skewed. This would be a disposable printer, considering it was at the bottom of all the laser printer lines. So first, you look at a few different ones, and decide what features are important. Speed? Detail (print resolution)? Cost of toner cartridges (you plan on printing a lot)? ability to handle odd paper or odd size paper? Ability to handle thick card stock or index stock? Size of feeder tray (to print 500 pages, rather than refilling the drawer 5 times for the same job)? You must answer these questions before you pick your unit. THEN, you start to hone your choices down. Am I saying that one laser printer is essentially the same as another? Almost. I m saying that as you shop, you will see the cheap range, the mid range, and the expensive range. You will see certain features only available in more expensive units... but all laser printers are designed to outlast ink jet printers, under a heavier load. The more you spend on the laser printer, the more this will hold true. The more expensive HP black and white laser printers from 10 years ago are still printing now. Why? They were mid range durable units. So, shop. Decide what you like, then compare the ones that have what you want. This is an investment. This is not supposed to be something you plan on using once a month.

Purchasing a laser printer is like buying a vehicle.First you need to determine what it s going to be used for and what is your budget.Second, generally you get what you pay for. Do you need to print 100 prints per month or 100,000? , do you need monochrome or color?, How big(paper size) are you printing?, Is it being used for one person or a workgroup?. With the limited details in your question, that s th only things I could answer.

Several years ago I bought 2 Brother HL-2040 laser printers for about $50 each. The toner ran out after about 3,000 pages. I bought refills on ebay for $6 and also a $3 part called a reset gear which is needed to refill the toner. The printers are still working today and I use them regularly. So lasers do not have to be expensive to be good.

How do I hook up an old printer to a new computer? -

How do I hook up my old HP printer, which has a 25 pin connector, to my new HP computer, which does not have a 25 pin port? Do I need an adapter? A new printer?

Here is a link to some usb to parallel adapters http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis…

With an old cable. lol You can buy an adapter, but I d put the money toward a new printer. The cost has come way down, and the capability of printers has gone way up. Best of luck.

use converter

You can get those conversion at any vendor store that supples computer stuff. Just asks them or search online.

You would need to buy an adapter that can be hooked up on one end to the printer and the other end that will work with your new computer. Try Circuit City, tell them your problem and they should beable to find it for you. If an adapter doesn t exist it might be time to buy another computer.

yes you need a new adapter, but honestly your better off buying a new one. second do you have the CD disk so you can upload the software for the printer in your new computer, because you will need this to print...if you buy a new printer a CD comes with the printer

How do you search in Google to buy a new ink cartridge ? -

Do you type the model number of the ink you re looking for or just hp ink cartridge (if your printer is HP) ? Thanks

just type the part number of the cartridge in the google search

You can view and download HP ink compatibility chart at this site : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html… And you can buy new ink cartridge at Amazon.co.uk. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/redirect.html…

There is no wrong way. I usually plus in HP Officejet Ink Cartridges when I m searching for new ink. However, you can just put in quot;ink cartridgesquot; and then once you click thru to some of the retailers you can use their search box to find the ink for your machine.

I usually type in, Ink cartridges for the Canon (model number) and that usually brings up loads of site. If you click on the UK only link this will help lessen the amount of links to American sites that Google give and whose products are not accessible from the UK.

Just bear in mind how many different models of HP printer there are and how many millions of sites you may be directed to. Always be as explicit as possible and you will have less pages to sift through.

any way http://www.google.com/search?q=ink+cartr…

Just type in the part number of your current ink cartridge. You can also type in the printer name to find replacement parts.

Try this link to big pockets they are very good. Cheap and fast delivery. http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/

type in like Epson 0711 and you ll get it okay.

you can also check the HP s site. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/prodserv/printing_multifunction.html

Can a printer be used for Dye-Sublimation after already having been used with regular inks? -

I read somewhere that sublimation ink systems have to be changed including the printer if you want to switch ink brands. Is this true? Also, can a printer be used for dye-sublimation inks if it has already been used with standard inkjet inks? Thank you.

A dye-sublimation printer uses a completely different printing system compared to standard inkjet printers. In d-s printing, colors are not laid down as individual dots, as is done in inkjet printers. If you looked inside a true d-s printer, you would see a long roll of transparent film that resembles sheets of red, blue, yellow, and gray colored cellophane stuck together end to end. Embedded in this film are solid dyes corresponding to the four basic colors used in printing: cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The print head heats up as it passes over the film, causing the dyes to vaporize and permeate the glossy surface of the paper before they return to solid form. Inkjet printers use a form of dye-sublimation in that the inks are heated to allow for a smoother flow, but NOT to the same high temps in a true d-s printer. Switching back and forth between sublimation and regular inks is not recommended because when you mix the two ink types neither one will do the job that it was designed to do. And to clean ink out of the lines is time consuming and costly. http://www.thepaperranch.com/default.asp… wwbgd

How do you rid of Xerox drum cartridges? -

I have a XC23 series copier and I want to know if I can just throw it out or is there a way to recycle it? I would rather recycle it, but I m not sure how.

You should recycle it. You can take it to any Staples store and they can recycle it for you. I know my local store takes them for recycling.

If you call a local supplier of printer cartridges they might come and pick them up if they have a use for them....

How to connect my printer to my wireless network? -

Okay so I have a printer that I want to use with my other computers wirelessly. Like I have a laptop and suppose if I want to to print a document but I dont want to go to the computer that has the printer connected. Is there anyway that I can print it wirelessly?

Yes. Follow these instructions. Click Start. Click Control Panel. Now find the Printers and faxes icon and click it. Now click on add printer. This will start and Add Printer Wizard that will let you find the printer on your network and set it up for your laptop. Be sure once you have it set up that you have it as the default printer and you are good to go.

You can get wireless print servers (last I checked ~$100), but from my experience they are all a pretty big pain in the *** to get set-up. Make sure you check the print server s list of compatible printers to make sure yours is on the list (won t usually be on the box, you will have to find it on the manufacturer s website), if it s not, don t assume it might work...even if there is a similar model on the list I used to work at Fry s and these things got returned like crazy because people didn t understand how to use them and didn t check the compatibility lists.

How do I dispose of an used laser toner cartridge? Is there a place I can send it to for remanufacturing? -

My first laser toner cartridge ran out. Can I throw it in the trash? I would prefer to recycle it or send it to a company that refills and resells them (remanufacturing). Does anyone have any info on those programs?

I believe you can just drop it off at Office Depot or Staples... they used to take them.

If you are in Canada, contact your local food bank. Canada wide their is a program called thINK food which will recycle your old ink and toner cartridges and turn the proceeds into food! However outside of Canada, most major retailers of ink and toner cartridges will recycled them, namely a place which carried their own in house brand, like staples. If you have an HP, they will actually pay for you to send them back, in the bottom of the new toner box you will see a shipping label, just attach it, seal it up and call UPS to come and get it. Many local schools also use ink and toner cartridges as fund raisers, you can definitely contact you local school and see if they are using ink and toner drives, or do at any point in the year as a fundraiser

Is the quality of a refilled ink cartridge comparable to a new one? -

Ink cartridges for inkjet printers can cost around 65 dollars while refillable services can cut costs nearly in half. But does the quality match up? I ve never had my ink cartridges refilled because I fear it will effect my design work. Refill or don t refill?

Refill if its offered. All the way. The saving is because they dont have to package and ship the new cartridge, not because the quality isn t comparable. they actually make quite a bit MORE off of refilled cartridge.

I, personally, am not a fan of refilled cartridges as I don t believe the quality of the ink is as good as the OEM ink. Based on past experience selling both, and using both, I continue to purchase the branded ink. Case in point: I was printing 15 high quality full-color calendars that I had designed for my daughters varsity swim team. Our school colors are red and yellow... the calendar background was red fading into yellow. I ran out of my red ink (this happened to be an Epson printer) and popped in my generic remanufactured ink. The difference in the quality of the colors was truly noticeable. The red that was so vivid and quot;REDquot; was now somewhat washed-out looking and more towards a pink-ish red. I finished that one print, went back to the store and purchased the Epson ink to finish the project. If I were doing design type work, I d stick to the brand stuff.. just my opinion. Good Luck! Maggie B

all i used is after market / generic ink refills they work great without the price try http://www.printpal.com/card15 u get a 15% discount off their allready low prices and shipping is fast 2-3 days

That all depends on what Brand of Printer you are using and what you are printing out, if it just for home use and your printer is out of warranty then refilling is a good way to save money

I used them on my Lexmark and it didnt work afterwards But on my HP they work fine.

How can you see how low the ink levels are in the Canon ip3500 printer? -

How do you connect both a mac and vista to a trendnet print server? -

I hav been using the print server fine with my own laptop, but my sis can t print with her mac. I can t figure out how to connect her mac to the print server. the instructions rn t the clearest. PLZ HELP!

1. Setup your Vista and XP clients using the setup wizard on the CD that came with the print server. Pretty straight forward, you should have no problems. 2. To setup the Mac, you will need to setup a static IP address on the Print Server. To do this log onto your printserver from your browser. Under the Protocol, TCP/IP tab, input an IP address of your printserver, the subnet and gateway

How to network a printer without a website? -

I have two network able printers using an ethernet connection, but I can not get them to print via the ethernet connection. I keep getting an error for both, even bought a print server and it says quot;Network busy or not availablequot; when I enter the info, and it is all right! I looked up online how to do it, and it says you need a website, and while I do have multiple websites I would prefer a way to use them without involving the websites if possible.

Go to Control Panel then click on Printers and Faxes.A window will pop up. On the left side of the window, there are some printer tasks. Click on quot;add a printerquot;. From there, follow the steps and when you are done save and apply the settings. I think you will have to do this for all the computers you would like to add the printer so

Check for Printer Correct Installation. amp; also check for sharing of the same

How do I clear a network printer queue with the DOS prompt? -

You cannot access a Windows or network printer queue with DOS, you have to go into Windows or have access to the network server/OS along with the proper privileges to affect any changes to the queue by opening that printer s queue, selecting all of the jobs you wish to cancel, right click and select Cancel All Documents. If you re trying to clear the printer s buffer of any in process jobs, usually there is a Cancel button you can use for each job as it comes along or turn off the printer. The Print commands mentioned by others only work with DOS spooled documents. Best of luck.

I do not have experience with DOS or a network computer, but normally you would go to Printers, double click the relevant Icon, click Printer, and then click Cancel documents.

try print /c

How do I prevent wrinkles in banner material on a Mimaki JV3? -

We have a Mimaki JV3 solvent inkjet printer, and everytime we print on banner material, we get wavy like wringles in the print area. This causes headstrikes almost everytime. We try messing with the heat, but that is touch and go. Any suggestions?

could it be the material? have you tried anyother material... like an adhesive vinyl instead of banner?

Just a possibility, I don t know if the Mimaki has this setting, but there should be a setting for thickness. Sometimes a material is too thick and the setting in the printer has to be changed. This would be a setting on the printer not in the driver. Check and see.

How can I set up my Canon MP530 printer to use only the black cartridge? -

I have just discovered that my colour cartridges are empty because I did not realise that they were being used when I asked for grayscale printing. As these cost ~$100 and I haven t been printing in colour, this is a big waste of money. BUT I cannot find anywhere to ask for black and white printing. Please help!

that is because you cannot. The black is actually a Grey cartage which requires all three co lours to darken and sharpen to get a decent print. If you do want to conserve in print in greyscale on fast draft mode. Sure the quality is lacking but at least you are conserving ink.

Where is the fuse located in the Okidata Microline 521 Printer? -

Nothing happens when I power it on. The manual says to check the fuse, but doesn t say where to find it. Any suggestions?

Odd, I checked their website and found all sorts of info about the printer. Even mentioned checking the fuse as you said. Trouble is, they never say WHERE the fuse is!!!!!!! I can only suggest looking for a push button for a circuit breaker or perhaps a quot;door or panelquot; that covers the fuse. Some devices have a round slotted platic cover that sorta looks like a screw head that holds the fuse. Maybe even an INLINE fuse in the power cord???

How do I hook a printer up to a computer? -

How do I hook up my printer to my computer. I ve connected all the wires but it still doesn t work.Help!

Sometimes you have to load the software if it came with a cd put it in. If it didn t go to your control panel and click add printer. That should get it done for you. Make sure your connections are right.

if it came with a cd run that if it didn t it might need drivers (search for them online) just type in like name of printer brand driver download or you can go to control panel gt; printer and faxesgt; and on the left side of the window it should say add a printer, fill out the required info

have you installed the drivers (if you have not got the drivers get the make and model of your printer and google it, you should be able to download the drivers from the site of the printers manufacture........ does the computer make a noise when you plug it in? )

perhaps you forget to switch the printer on...or you ll need to check on the print dialogue box if the printer you used is already activated.

How do I add a printer to my wireless network? -

I have a desktop computer (running Windows XP) with a printer connected to it. I am running a wireless network as I also have 3 laptops (1 running XP, 2 running Vista) that I would like to be able to connect to this printer. Can someone help me with this? My wireless network is through ATamp;T U-Verse so no external wireless router is being used.

You should just be able to open the printers page in control panel and right click on it and select the option to share printer. Then that printer will show up as a shared resource on that computer. Then on your laptops, you simply go to add printer and try to have it search for the printer over the network. If it finds it, you are good if not you need to manually add it by browsing for it by typing in the computer name. Sorry I can t be more specific, I am not currently on my xp machine to walk though the process in more detail.

How long do unopened HP inkjet cartridges last before drying out from no use? -

Right now there s a sale where I can get HP ink cartridges for my printer for 25% off, but because part of the savings is a volume discount, I have to buy at least 6 combo packs (1 black + 1 tricolor each). Should I be worried about some of the cartridges drying out before I ever get the chance to use them? How long will an HP cartridge last if I don t open its packaging and just keep it in my desk?

I would think as long as the packs havent been opened that they would be good for a year at least. If you do alot of printing, you might be money ahead.

Keep them in a cool area in the original packaging and they should last for at least a year. Unfortunately, I have to tell you that your HP printer will probably not last as long as the cartridges and you cannot return the cartridges. I have people come into my office all the time who are stuck with ink they can t use because their printer to a crap on them.

Do computers in a network need same service pack to share printer? -

I have a Canon MP830 and recently reformatted and now can t get my network printer to share properly. I have SP3 on the main computer hooked up to the printer and the laptop trying to access it is service pack 2. Do I need to have Service Pack 3 on both computers?

No. You just need the printer driver installed in all of them. Make sure your laptops are connected to the printer (wires are a good investment).

How do I clean the ink cartridge jets on my HP Deskjet F5280 all in one? -

I think there s an option there somewhere, like on my old Canon printer, you click once or twice and it cleans the jets and prints more clearly after that. I can t find it, can anyone clue me in?

I don t believe hp does a self clean. I would manually clean clean it my self but that can be messy. i would suggest just cleaning it your self and sacrifice some rags or paper towels (no tissue) or take it into a place to have it cleaned .

How do you clean the heads on a printer if it is not hooked up to a computer? -

A friend of mine just has a printer and she just put in a new kodack color cartride and she says it very dull in color. I was thinking she needed to clean the heads. What do you thik?

I use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips.

You should be able to do a test print even if the printer is not connected to the computer. Power it up, then press the the feed/print button on your printer to print the test page. Read your printer manual to find out what maintenance options it gives you. Alternatively, a weak isopropanol solution can be applied to the print head using a paper towel. The isopropanol will dissolve the dried ink. Citation: http://www.weeno.com/art/0899/140.shtml http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/artic…

If she has the manual for the printer, she should read it. Usually there is a combination of keys that you can press to do the head cleaning operation. If she doesn t have the manual go to the manufacturers web site and you should be able to locate a manual for that model to download or read online. Hope this helps.
