How do you clean the heads on a printer if it is not hooked up to a computer? -

A friend of mine just has a printer and she just put in a new kodack color cartride and she says it very dull in color. I was thinking she needed to clean the heads. What do you thik?

I use rubbing alcohol and Q-tips.

You should be able to do a test print even if the printer is not connected to the computer. Power it up, then press the the feed/print button on your printer to print the test page. Read your printer manual to find out what maintenance options it gives you. Alternatively, a weak isopropanol solution can be applied to the print head using a paper towel. The isopropanol will dissolve the dried ink. Citation: http://www.weeno.com/art/0899/140.shtml http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/artic…

If she has the manual for the printer, she should read it. Usually there is a combination of keys that you can press to do the head cleaning operation. If she doesn t have the manual go to the manufacturers web site and you should be able to locate a manual for that model to download or read online. Hope this helps.
