Whats the best inkjet printer for a college student? -

Headed to college in only a few days and need to replace my old canon Pixma iP1600 printer. Please recommend a printer that uses ink sparingly and has cheap replacement cartridges. Can t afford a printer over two-hundred dollars. Thanks for your help!

If you are doing just regular printing and not heavy color graphics ... just Wal Mart HP printer is fine for about $50 ... replacements are about 17 for black and 20 for color. I would stay away from the all in ones .. they are more trouble and I have never seen one last long. Too many things to go wrong on it.

i still recommend epson stylus even though im using hp inkjet... epson stylus can use ink refil even if you dont replace the ink cartridge... you just have to buy the refilling kit... unlike in hp, you can also refil hp ink but it has a refil limit. for about 6-7 refil, after that you cannot refil it anymore, so you have to replace the cartridge and have to buy a original new one cartridge...

How do I correct blurry printing from my printer? -

I put a new cartridge in my lexmark Z12 and at first it did not print out. After going through a routine a friend got it to print but it is blurry.How can I get it to print clearly. I have aligned the cartridge and looked for the straightest line,done a test print page etc. Please help. I desperately in need to use a printer and the cartridge is new!

Unfortunately, ink problems are common in Lexmark printers, which is why Lexmark is rated one of the most unreliable printers in the market. And since the Z12 is a lower-end printer, it s even more unreliable. Since you already tried aligning the cartridge, I pretty much have two choice (1) buy a new cartridge (which may or may not work) or (2) buy a new printer (preferrably not Lexmark). If you decide to buy a cheap printer I would recommend the HP D4160 inkjet printer. Ink is relatively inexpensive and the ink cartridges have a failure rate of only 2%, much lower than Lexmark. The D4160 is compact, costs $70 in a retail store ($80 on HP.com), comes with a full set of ink (despite what a salesman will tell you), is photo quality, and shouldn t cause you any problems.

Try cleaning the cartridge head manually with a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol. Also, make sure that the paper you are using is compatible with your printer.

Once you just wipe the Cartridge head, and manually clean inside the Printer, after what you have done, try a Full Print, top Quality, and if that fails, then the Lexmark is dying... time to get a new printer

How do I install my internet drivers? -

I just wiped my whole hard drive and everything and now i need to install my internet driver and my sound driver and i dont know how to do it without the internet How do i do it.

There are two potential ways to do this. The first thing you have to do is get on the internet this will then enable you to solve your sound driver issue (probaly using windows update). If you haven t got your ethernet drivers on a CD that came with your computer, you could try having a firend download them, alternatively, buy a USB to Ethernet adapter (costs about ￡7 in the UK). This comes with it s own little CD containing the drivers for the USB to Ethernet adapter. Install the USB to Ethernet adapter, plug in your ethernet cable and voila you can now get online and use windows update or your ethernet manufacturers web site to get the required driver for your PCI Ethernet card of Motherboard integrated ethernet. You should have a CD you got with your computer. Which will have all the quot;networkquot; drivers you need for your network adapters. Then you can get on the net once installed.

If you have Vista it will automatically find all the drivers you need on start up.

No. Unless it comes with another cable that is not usb. You should have at least one usb port on your computer. If that is the case you can get a usb attachment that makes one port 4 or 5 ports. Some printers come equipped with both USB and parallel printer ports. You would need a printer cable to install. If no other port is available on your computer (a rarity) there is no other way that I know of short of getting a USB card bus to install on your computer.

Open your word processor and make sure the page setup is set to letter size. Now, go in the printer preferences and you will see an option where it says, Center to page. Put a checkmark there. ALso, selet the correct paper size which whould be LETTER SIZE. Lastly, make sure to click on Print as in document. Before printing, do a page preview to make sure that everything looks ok. Print from THAT page.

My printer used to do that too. It just required a good cleaning inside. Try to wipe with a very lightly damp cloth to get rid of the existing ink on the inside of the printer. That did the job for me.

sounds like a compatibility problem.I had this happen with a camera I reinstalled on my computer the other day and it was that the drivers were not loaded.so try to reinstall the printer drivers again see if that helps.

maybe too much power is going through your computer and it causing it to reboot.

maybe there is a problem with the usb not the cable but the usb in the computer.

How do you print print out postcards on a printer? -

I have some postcards that I would like to send out to some companies. I would like the postcard to look a little more professional than just hand written. I have used an Epson printer for several years now and can t really fault them but you need to give a bit more info before I can help you anymore. What model is it? What do you mean by quot;Screams at youquot;? It could be something simple...it could be something major...but you need to explain in more detail. OK...I can t promise a quick solution but it could be something as simple as the transportation lock needs to be unlocked. Check your book to see how to do this. I have the CX3200 model and it s slightly different. It is simple though. If this doesn t work...try doing some basic maintenance... 1)Change the ink cartridges (compatible ink is just as good as the real thing at a fraction of the price). 2)Check the print head nozzles. 3)Clean the print head. 4)Align the print head. You don t have to take things apart to do these things...it s just button pressing. Just check your manual on how to do them. Very simple. Whenever I ve had a problem with mine, I ve resolved it by doing these things I ve suggested. I hope you can sort it. Good luck!!!

Short answer is you can t. Totally different programming. Not only that there is nothing to connect to! You can buy inkjet printers anywhere for about ￡30. They are now virtually a throw away commodity. In fact it is so stupid in some cases it s cheaper to buy a new printer than buy manufacturer s replacement ink cartridges. Which sort of brings the old joke about changing one s Rolls Royce because the ashtrays are full into prospective!

Sorry but it will not work. There is no way to connect the two together. You can but a cheep printer for less than $30 if you look around.

First make sure both computers belong to the same workgroup. Go to your control panel and click on the system icon. Go to the Computer Name tab. Check to make sure the computer name is different on each computer and let check the workgroup name. Assign the SAME workgroup name to each computer. On th quot;hostquot; computer go to the printer and faxes and right click on the printer and select sharing. Provide any info it asks for then reboot the computer. Go back to your laptop and go to the printer and faxes folder and click on the add printer icon. Select network printer hit next then select browse for network printer Windows should locate the printer. Click on the printer and select next. It should install all necessary drivers. Remember the host computer has to be on to have the printer available over the network.

As you are connected to the host and the printer is connected, your client system will detect the printer and you will be able to print as though the printer is already connected. Print Servers, most wirless ones use Usb but you can find Lpt Ones, if not buy a wired one and plug it directinto a cheap wirless router, netgear do a good selection of them check it out !

The ink is past its expiration date, but the ink I used this before this one did the same thing. Of course, that ink could have also been expired. My printer is one of those ancient ones that you have to manually feed paper to. Can anyone figure out if the strange color is because of the printer or the ink?

I would reset both computer and printer. If still does this, then you need to check the settings. Make sure that the color setting is automatic.

I think the cartridge is clogged up - the printer mixes all the colors in the cartridge, including black, to make either black, or whatever color you need. However, if the ink is clogged, it will THINK its printing, so it wont show up any errors, but only the magenta ink will actually print. If your printer has a clean head button, or self clean button, or in your computer, if you can tell it to run a self-clean, it might help. Or try replacing the cartridge.

More than likely this is the ink cartridge. Make sure you are using standard paper and not any special glossy photo paper or anything. Try a new cartridge, if this does not work, try re-installing the drivers on your PC, if that does not work. It is your printer. And for the guy above, even if a printer made for a MAC (alot of printers work on both platforms), it is still a cartridge issue, this is why MAC users are ignorant.

How do I test my vinyl plotter using a calibration file? -

I use a Gerber Omega Edge printer, and I am supposed to test it using a calibration file. How do I do and/or create one?

What you cut is not as important as testing various sizes so that the cutter settings are just right. To calibrate my plotter, I usually just type something like: AaBbCcDdEe12345 I cut one line in 1/2quot; letters, one line in 3/4quot; letters, and one line in 1quot; letters. Next I weed everything. If everything weeds perfectly (no lost letters) leave the settings alone, but if you are losing letters, change your blade depth and pressure and re-cut until you don t lose anything as you weed. If you get it just right you will even be able to weed 1/2quot; serif fonts (like Times New Roman) but you might want to start out on sans-serif (like Arial Black) first just to get in the right ballpark. If you weed off all the vinyl (including the letters themselves), you should be able to see a faint impression in the paper where the letters were cut. If this impression is too deep, the paper may stick to the back of the vinyl when you re trying to lay it down. If there is not a deep enough impression, the vinyl will be hard to weed and you ll have to replace letters.
