Do the HP inkjet cartridges w/ expired dates still work well? If so, how old can they be? -

I need some replacement cartridges for my HP 1200 inkjet printer. There are some sold on EBay much cheaper than stores, but some have expired dates. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with using expired ink cartridges, and if so, how old can you buy them and still expect them to work as well as the new ones? Thank you.

As long as they are sealed in undamaged foil wrappers and stored in decent conditions, yes, the cartridges should work fine. If, however, the wrapper has been damaged, there is a slight chance that the heads/ink could have dried out.

You may have change a setting in the Options list and now it s printing Backwards! Find you re Manual or go Online to find how to correct it and get it printing in the right direction,..like it should be.

Delete the printer and reinstall it again and choose it as your default

Once you set the default printer it shouldn t change unless you change it. The only possibility I can think of is that there is some location profile changer in your PC and that is maybe malfunctioning or wrongly configured. Can you check that?

Is there any way someone else could be changing it? I don t see how it can keep changing the default settings on its own. Are you on a wireless network, maybe someone is accessing your computer at night or when you re gone during the day. Make sure you shut off your computer or at least put it into hibernation when you re not on it during the day or night. I d also apply a windows password in your user account set up so no one can just log in. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that, don t know why they changed all of a sudden, but give this a shot to print out in larger type. Go to your menu bar at the top of your web browser, click on quot;Filequot; then quot;Print Previewquot;. At the top of the window there should be a small window with quot;Shrink To Fitquot; in it. Click the arrow on that box for a drop down list and choose something, like 90% (there is a custom option at the bottom of the list if you need to set something unique in between what s listed) and see how it changes the print size of what is to be printed out and choose the percentage that looks and works best for you, then click the little printer icon in the top left corner. The only other method is to copy amp; paste the text into a text editing software like Word and adjust the text size there. Best of luck.

I have a HP LaserJet CM1050 and my printer was making unwanted smudges, so I opened the door to see what was going on and the black film thing is torn. Hi, As I was looking to your picture I figure it is a plastic film which role is to aids the sheet of paper reach to the top of the printer after it is printed. So this film role is only to guide the paper out. If this film is jammed your printed could malfunction and get the sheet of paper blocked inside along with a signal error. Nope, there is really nothing you can do. You can perhaps change the text colour of some documents to magenta or red and print out your documents in red ink. If they are for your own records you will be conserving the black, however once a cartirdge is emptied of one colour it wils tart to behave badly. There may be nothing you can do.

Instead of buying new cartridges, purchase an ink refill kit. It should come with instructions on how to fill your particular cartridge. I have use these in the past with great success. Be careful and follow the instructions to the word. It s easy to make a complete mess!! By purchasing a kit you will be able to fill or top off any color of your choice or all at once....

Why does my printer print things in a purple tint? -

Every time I try to print something, it ends up coming out all purple. But the ink cartridges in my printer are fairly new. No matter what I do, I can t get it to stop printing in purple. What could be the cause of this? The brand of my printer is HP.

Change your color cartrdige. It is probably out or low in red and yellow. The cartrdige could have been defective from the start. That should solve your problems. First, clean it with alcohol and Q-tip and put it back in the printer and do a test print. You should see cyan, magenta , yellow, black line. If you are missing any of the lines, then replace the cartrdige.

I say you need to go to your printer settings and see if the problem is there. You could also just try reinstalling the program and see if that does the trick. The last thing you could do is see if you have any other ink in the house and install it...if you still get the purple...you could have defective ink.

Wipe each cartridge with clean water-moist rag and replace. If that does not do it replace cartridges one at a time until problem clears. When cartridge not in use put scotch tape over each nozzle so it does not dry up.

Honestly? Because Dell (made by Lexmark) is one of the poorest quality printers made. Take a look at the new HP Photosmart Printers. HP is a much better brand, in many cases the ink is now inexpensive, and you can find the ink cartridges just about anywhere. Photo quality is much better on HP printers. HP, Canon, and Epson are rated the best quality photo printers. Canon and Epson photos will cost you about 40 cents per 4x6 paper whereas the HP s print photos at a cost of 24 cents each. I recommend the C5180 or the C6280 if you want print, copy, scan, and do photos (I own the C5180). Or the D7260 if you don t need to copy or scan and you just want to print documents and photos. These printers are listed on hp.com with specific details about each one.

What is the best and lowest price laser printer? -

I m looking to get a color laser printer in the near future. I mostly print Bamp;W, but would like to occasionally print photos or other color documents. A combo machine would be great with a scanner, copier and fax as well. I m familliar with HP brand-wise, but I don t really know what s out there. I am also considering inkjet, but the cartridge cost seems to outweigh the printer cost after a short while.

The Samsung ML-2010 was one of the first low-cost laser printers and it s still pretty popular these days. The Brother HL-2040 is another good one. Brother makes cheap laser printers that are also good quality. I would probably stay away from the HP LaserJet 1012, which is typically the cheapest model available. It is slooow (slower than a lot of inkjets) and it just isn t worth it. All these machines are monochrome because there is no such thing as a low priced color laser printer, especially an all-in-one. If you are interested in either of those things, you should probably get an inkjet. The cheapest all-in-one laser printer is probably about $250, and you will likely have to pay more than that to get a good one.
