Ive found Lexmark printers very expensive to run. What is the most economical make of printer? -

I print Word documents that are 20% text and 80% images. My Lexmark printer will only print 14-15 sheets (with a brand new cartridge) before (a) the images begin fading and (b) I am prompted to think about replacing the cartridge. Should I be considering a pre-owned full-size office printer rather than a small home printer. The cartridge I use costs £15 and therefore each print is costing £1. Is there anybody out there who works principally with images who can recommend an economical printer.

I use and HP Laserjet (not color laser) I refill these cartridges to save money. You can refill the cartridge only twice. Special tool to cut hole in cartridge: $10 lasts forever Refill bottles of toner $27 ea in quantities of 2. http://www.ink-refills-ink.com/cartridge… The toner cartridge is rated for 5000 pages Cost $80 (USD) New HP cartridge do not refill so $70 / 5000 = $0.014 (USD) per sheet plus paper New HP cartridge and refill twice so $70+$27+$27 / (5000*3) = $0.0083 per sheet plus paper You can get a generic cartridge for $46 New generic cartridge do not refill so $46 / 5000 = $0.0092 per sheet plus paper New generic cartridge and refill twice so $46+$27+$27 / (5000*3) = $0.0067 per sheet plus paper

I can recommend printer from HP that using HP 02. Refillable cartridges are available at http://fillserv.com/cic/product.php?id=h… Any printer that using Continuous Ink Systems (CIS) http://fillserv.com/cic/category.php?cat… or any Canon printer that using CLI-8 cartridges. Those very easy to refill http://fillserv.com/cic/product.php?id=c…

I used to have a HP, pretty good.

Check out the new Kodak Easy Share all in one printers. They are currently boasting some of the most economical printers. However I am unsure if they are available in th UK. If you are looking at only printing monochrome get a laser. You can get a decent samsung or HP printer for ra very reasonable price. The cartridge do cost a lot more however will print upwards of 2000 pages.

I worked for Xerox and Samsung Ramp;D -- 6 years. Yes, Lexmark are the most expensive inkjet and laser printers to own and operate. Everything is about cents per page. Inkjets cost 8-15 cents per page (USD). Monochrome laser printers cost between 1-4 cents per page. Color laser printers fall between 1-10 cents/pg. Bottom line: If you need only monochrome printing, get an inexpensive monochrome laser printer like a low-end HP, Samsung or Dell laser. Costs run about 3-4 cents/pg. If you really need color, then your most cost-effective route is to get a HP or Canon inkjet with commonly available refilled cartridges. Costs run 5-10 cents/pg. Color lasers are a nice option, although the up-front costs are high. I ve done much number-crunching for work in the past. When you consider THE LIFE of the printer, the initial investment in the hardware becomes a negligible part of the total money spent. Toner and ink cartridges become 90% of the total cost of owning and operating the device.

es - Lexmark are gas hogs... I have used Epson for many years and refill my ink... You can refill Lexmark ink and save a lot of money...Joe

How do I print wirelessly from my laptop to a printer? -

I just bought a printer (Canon Pixma MX300) and it s not connected to any desktop or laptop, so it s just there by itself, how do I make it so I can print from my laptop wireless? thanks

i would want to know the same thing i think u have to have it connected to a desktop or something and then like share the printer then if u have another comp like a desktop connect it to tht and whtever u want to print u could just like save it in ur email as a draft thts wht i do or u could somehow connect it maybe there is a wire i don t really know sorry =(

You must have the printer shared out on the network you are connected too. If you are using a small home network go to the computer that the printer is connected to and make sure it is shared out to all users on network. Once you do that open your control panel and go to printers and add a printer. Follow the directions in the wizard to search for printer install drivers and you should be able to print at that point.

I have that printer - USB just plug it in the front right. Your laptop may want drivers for it, but it should just plug amp; play type start. I ve had it for a year, but I saw it on sale for $69.00 after a rebate! and that s almost cheaper than replacing ink! The moral of this answer is: damn the price of ink.

You have to get a wireles router with a printer server bilt into the router and get a usb cable and plug it into the back of the router. Then u need to open the router status and find the printe address. Then u must go to windows add printers or faxes and click add printer. after that add click the network printer and then type the addres and click next. It will then ask u for the type of printer. Chooose the type and click done. Thats all u have to do.

You need to install it on your laptop... If you have a windows.. Go to Control Panel then to Printers and Other Hardware. Then to Printers and Faxes On the Side panel it should say Printer tasks, underneath that it says Add a Printer

If it isn t built into the printer, you ll need to buy a wireless print server. It will connect to your router and your printer, and you print through your network to a specific IP address.

I havent got a wireless printer myself, but i assume....right click on the network icon on the taskbar gt; connect to a network gt; highlight your printer gt; connect

Go to computer and see if its hooked up then in word it will automatically find it otherwise you printer card is not compatible with your router.

Its either network, WiFi or IR driven. Read the instructions or call the manufacturer.

Plug the usb cable into your computer

You get the adapter, and drivers for it?

bluetooth

idk call the vet.

Is there a device you can use to make a not wireless printer wireless? -

Can I buy something to hook into the printer and the computer to connect the two that is wireless. Something along the lines of bluetooth? They are across the room from each other and we can t have cords in the way.

If you have a spare computer, you can use that as a wireless server. Any old laptop capable of running windows XP will do nicely (must have a USB or Parallel port depending on what printer uses). Otherwise some expensive routers offer print server functions. Then there are the dedicated printer servers, which are small accesspoints with connection for printers. All you do is make sure the printer is installed and working nicely on the computer with XP Pro (havent tried with Vista, most likely possible). Then you connect THAT pc to any wireless router (either via a cable or put a wireless card in pc). If you have another laptop/pc connected to the router (using same subnet and on same network ip range, eg both are 192.168.1.xx) it will be able to use the remote printer. Go to Control Panel -gt; Printer and Faxes -gt; Add Printer. Now select the 2nd option quot;A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computerquot; and click browse printer.

Yes. It is called a wireless print server

What is the best all-in-one border-less printer capable of 11quot;x17quot; prints? -

I am a graphic and web designer and photographer, and I have a terrible printer right now. I am in need of an accurate printer that is capable of printing 11quot;x17quot; border-less (and anything smaller, obviously). I d also really like to stay on a college student s budget... any suggestions? I d especially like to hear from graphic designers and photographers that are in college as well as those who are already in the profession.

Hi Jonathan I own a hew high end epsons and HP for proofing. I recently purchased a HP 9650 and it prints 13 x 19 with a 12 x 18 borderless. This printer used to sell for $1000 and we purchased one at $300 brand new and worth every penny. You can print any size paper, any quality, and even envelops. What I like about this printer is that it is super fast to print and the output matches our screen which is important when we print the finish product.

Is there a way to reassign which printer a print job is going to? -

One of the printers in my office messed up this morning, and we are waiting for the repair guy to get here to fix it. He may not get here until tomorrow, and I need one of the jobs that are in line waiting to be printed in the spooler, im also worried about it getting deleted. To get an other copy of the file to print to a different printer, i have to pay a $15 fee. I just wanted to check to see if there is any way to reassign this to one of the other printers and how to do this?

If you are running a print server you can make a print pool. Then you can redirect the print jobs that are in the queue (by setting priorities). But, for that you need to be using a print server and also have another printer that s pretty close to the same model.

What is a good photo printer that can print large photographs? -

I want to be able to print photos that are up to and/or larger than 8.5 by 11 inches and I need to know what is the best printer within a reasonable price range for a college student, preferably something under $300 or $400.

My family and I have owned several Epson and HP printers and we have ALWAYS had problems with them. Two years ago we started buying Canon printers and we love them. Great photos, no dried up ink or clogged print heads, cheaper and longer lasting ink - they are the best!! That is why the pros use them. Look at the PIXMA line of printers - I m not sure you are going to find anything in your price range though. You may have to go to $500 for the PIXMA Pro9000

I think the HP Photosmart Pro B8350 Photo Printer which costs about 350$ is a good choice. It can manage paper sizes up to 13 X 19quot;. Here s the link - http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shoppi…

Epson 1280 is awesome. It prints up to 13 X 19 inches. Sometimes they have specials on them and you can get one for about $250-300. I believe it is being replaced by a newer model sometime this year, though.

There are a few ways to do this, some easier then others. It all depends on how your computers are connecting to the internet, and if you use a router/switch or a wireless router. See the following links for more details.

Why when I print something is the print very small? -

Is there anything I can do to make the print bigger, I put the text size to largest but it made no difference.

Is this in every program? If you have MS WORD try typing a line of text, highlight the text and then click on the text size options and choose a larger font.

if your mouse has a scroll wheel, you can enlarge the whole page by holding the control at the lower left and turning the mouse wheel Sorry, did not read the Q properly, I see you mean for a printer, not just to read the computer screen

Pls you need to supply more info, at least, type of printer and software. However, run a Test Print on the computer, and ensure you go through ALL Setup options of the printer. I suspect the problem is with the printer setup. Please, spare some time to understand the printer, which I believe is a newly acquired printer. Good luck.

How can I reset the waste ink counter on my Epson R280 printer? -

Does anyone know how to reset the waste ink counter on Epson Stylus Photo R280 printer? Or where can I buy a waste ink resetter/adjustment program for R280 printer?

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 830. I guess it may have a similar system: The cartridges themselves have chips in them that count down how much ink is in the cartridge. They can t be reset, which is why you find even recycle schemes won t take Epson cartridges. Best answer is to buy good quality compatibles. After many bad experiences, I have found the company below who do good cartridges at throwaway prices. They do inks for your printer as well- although R280 is a US designation, and R285 is the UK equivalent.

The answer given has nothing to do with the question. The waste ink counter has no idea of the quality of the cartridges you are using. You need to download the waste ink pad reset program available from Epson. Here is the address http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp . Report Abuse

Can I just refill Lexmark ink cartridge or do I have to buy the cartridge? -

Ink cartridges cost so much and I print alot can refilling the old cartridge be bad for printer?

Type in your printer make and model in the search engine of the link below and that will show you how you do it. If it says no results found then you probably can t fill your model s cartridge. http://www.jettecrefill.com/index.asp

Yes, of course you can At least I did about 2 years ago. I first bought an inkjet kit which you can buy at any computer store or Office Max. It will tell you how to open the cartridge, put in the 9ml of ink (or a little less) and seal it up until next time. (I use a simple glue gun to seal the hole each time) You only get about 2 or 3 refills with the beginner s kit but by that time you have decided you know how to do it without getting ink on your hands. But if you do get ink (I did yesterday it comes off with two hand washings. For ladies or people who must have clean hands you could use a pair of disposable gloves, the kind that come with hair color or you can buy them for about a dime a pair.) After the beginner s kit you can buy ink in ln large bottles (up to a quart in size if you are a busy printer). I get about 30 fills from one bottle of any color. It will cost you about 60 ¢ a fill up if you buy your ink from www.re-inks.com or some similar company that sells bulk ink. I buy 250 ml bottle, all colors for $16 and the delivery is very cheap, about $5 for five assorted colors. A fillup is about 8 or 9 ml and you do it with a simple hypo needle which you got with your beginner s kit. I print a lot of hand-outs for my computer classes and I like to do it all in color. I sure save a pile of money re-filling but it takes a bit of patience. Hope this helps.

I would be safe and buy a new cartridge, rather than buying ink and taking the chance of getting that ink that s impossible to get off on your skin.

Buy the ink and drill a hole on top so you can fill it..

NO You have to buy new ones each time I own a Lexmark Printer Scanner X2600

How can I make waterproof stickers to stick to bicycles? -

I want to make waterproof stickers to stick to my bicycle. How can I make them using a computer, a printer and the right paper? Please answer!

1. Would need a quot;waterproof inkquot;, most home printers do not come with this option. Laser holds up better than inkjet though. 2. Would have to find a sticker paper (not too hard) but it would have to have some way to laminate 1 side -- again, not easy on a quot;homequot; setup. It seems that it is possible with some new papers, but it is not cheap. Check out this link: http://www.hyaz.com/

How do I get my Lexmark printer working? -

I have a Lexmark X1150 All-In-One printer. If I don t use it all the time, the cartridges won t work and there are lines through my text. How can I resolve this? Do I dump the printer and buy a new one or is there an easier way to fix the problem?

if u don t use inkjet printer for a while cartridge head will dry, put it in a little warm water for 5 minutes, the back to printer, print few cleaning pages. U can find the option in printers utility software. Good luck!

Yes the boiling water works and if it don t add a cap full of ammonia to the water but dip the cartridge in and out but don t leave it in the water with the ammonia in it. and take a piece of paper towel fold it in half and dab the cartridge on it not in the same spot so you can see if it gets better and it should.

buy a new cartridge

Put about an inch of hot (not boiling) water in a cup, let the cartridges sit in it for about 5 minutes. This will dissolve the ink that has dried up and partially clogged the print head (that shiny metal strip). Also using a little bleach on a paper towel to wipe the bottom of the print heads help. People recommend storing the cartridges in a zip lock bag if you re not going to use the printer for awhile (going on vacation), but who really does this, well at least not me.

My new printer keeps printing a test page instead of my document! What should I do? -

I ve just bought a brandnew Brother HL2040 laser printer, and I am using Open Office to print a document. Whenever I click quot;printquot;, the printer puts the job in the queue and does nothing else with it. When I then hit the quot;Goquot; button, it produces a test print. Other than continuing to produce this as an unusual wallpaper idea, what can I do to actually get the thing to print my document?

Check the cable! When a printer is not linked to the computer it usually produces a test page when you hit the button. And when the computer thinks the printer is offline, because it is not properly linked, it will put the document in the queue, where it waits to be printed as soon as the printer is available.

I would try reloading the software on the cd that came with the printer. Go through all the steps over again. Sometimes things screw up the first time. Worth a try.

How do you print on 3x5 hp photo paper? -

I don t want to damage the printer, so how to you print on already sized hp premium photo paper?

You just put it in the machine the same way you would A4 paper, there will be some paper guides that you wil need to adjust so that the paper guides through sraight. When its time to print, click on the print button and then change the properties to tell the printer what size paper, what type (matte, photo, gloss) and any other settings that it asks for.
