What does gamma mean on my printer settings? -

I have an Epson all in one. And it scans a document, then saves it under gamma-(some #s) and if i print black and white it says gamma 22? what does gamma mean for the printer?

It s a color setting. Some printers use it for calibrations. I m not sure exactly how it pertains to your situation. Most of the time it is use for color matching.

What is the cheapest way to make the epson stylus dx8400 wireless? -

Buy a wireless print server. These are very inexpensive and will connect to your wireless router. You then install the printer as a network printer and away you go. The print server can either connect to the router with a cable or with its own wireless antenna. Example: (looking) http://www.netgear.co.uk/wireless_print_… http://www.belkin.com/uk/networkusbhub/ http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/prod… There are plenty more out there.

Can i install a printer on to my printer lexmark x1270 as i have installed it says its installed? -

when i try to print someting i either get a error message or saying that a printer is not installed but it is ?

Hi Sexy Lexmark are terrible for that. Follow this procedure. Un-install all the drivers. Now, remove the USB cable from the printer and power on the printer. Now install your software and let the software tell you that you need to connect the cable to it. Do it and the installation will complete itself. Reboot and windows will find the printer and it should work fine.

Hi, Goto the start, printers and faxes and see if it is ticked as the default printer. If not then right click and set as default. Hopefully that will cure it. Arnak

That s what you get for buying Lexmark! Seriously, Lexmark are terrible - and good luck when you want to uninstall it!

Any way to completely stop my HP printer from wanting to calibrate after a new ink cartridge is installed? -

This is my pet peeve. When I install a new cartridge it prints out the calibration sheet no matter what I do -- even when I indicate I have one. It is offensive that the company that produces and sells the ink forces you to use it this way -- and in color, yet! Can I make this go away -- forever? Is this the same with other companies? Maybe I should stop buying HP printers.

Every time you switch your ink cartidges, your heads become misalligned, so if it dosen t do a calibration sheet, your images come out with the colors off center (it looks a little like ghosting on a television), every printer will do something similar, even on professional box printers (like cereal boxes), they have to have a calibration test, those are what those odd multicolored blocks are when you open a box, to calibrate the printer, if you want a good print out, it is required And it s only when you install new ink cartriges, one peice of paper an the little ink it uses is nothing, you probably put more abuse to the ink by printing out a web page, or printing out anything for that matter, you should be happy that it s even calibrating so you don t come out with a horrible looking print out

No, it s supposed to, as new printheads are supposed to be calibrated. It uses so little ink any way... not worth the peeve time. :)

This annoys me to no end, too. Try shutting the printer off before or right when it asks you if you have the calibration sheet. I m not sure if it works or not, but it can t hurt.

Sorry, by default it has to print the calibration sheet. Without it your pictures will not come out the best quality they can be.

My printer wont print anything I send to it, but all connections are good, including through the control pane? -

I have an HP deskjet printer. The paper light began to flash even though there was paper loaded. So I turned it off and on again. The power button then started to flash and it only is printing like a binary code on random pieces of paper it keeps pulling through. What do I do?

Double check all the drivers. HPs are notorious for being difficult to install. If this is a new printer then you ll want to follow the install instructions specifically. For some reason they absolutely require very specific steps and you need to plug it in only after loading the drivers.

Have you tried to cancel a job while it was printing. If so you may have print jobs in queue Here is where the prints jobs are in queue Start Settings Printers and faxes Left click the printer icon. Click the word printer Click cancel all documents. You may need to restart

the drivers maybe have the problem. Check all all the drivers http://www.toboc.com/forum3/default.aspx… http://www.toboc.com/forum3/default.aspx…

My black ink is out. How do I make my printer print things that are supposed to be in black, in blue? -

I m copying some pages from a textbook and need to know if it s possible to make my printer print things that appear black in blue. I tried taking out the black cartridge but when it s not in it refuses to print. Thanks.

if youv got a spare colour cartridge you can use all the colours to make black but it runs the ink out quicker

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice versa. If you printed with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That s why most printers won t allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren t using it. If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty. Leaving your printer on takes very little power. Every so often the printer sends a signal to cycle the ink in the heads so it doesn t clog. If you turn your printer off, the next time you turn it on it will do a cleaning which wastes a lot of ink. The excess ink is soaked up by the waste pad beneath the printer. When the waste pad is full, the printer stops working. Unless you want to spend more than the cost of the printer or waste a lot of time on a messy cleanup you will end up throwing the printer out. So shutting it off actually shortens its life. If you leave the printer off for extended periods of time, the ink in the heads will clog and you will have to throw the printer away. Someone I know with a Canon (though this can happen with any inkjet) had to have the heads replaced twice within the first few months before the Canon tech told her to stop turning it off. Since then it has worked perfectly for over a year.

If you have an HP or lexmark them into an editable document and change the font colour. However most likely, you cannot. You will have to take them to a photocopy place or replace your cartridge.

How do i restore factory settings on my HP dv6000 laptop? -

I want to get rid of a virus that is messing with my computer and the only way i know how is to restore factory settings. I know that i will lose everything but i can get them anytime. I did it before without a cd but i forgot how to so if anyone can help then i d be grateful.

The Restore Disc. Usually you have to make it when you buy the computer, unless it came with one. If you don t have one you will need to order one from the companies website. First try getting the virus off with some free software. Guides are at the link below. Use Malwarebytes. http://www.itguyfixit.com

on start up, one of your function keys should take you to the recovery program, it should be in the manual. F11 I think will start recovery manager according to the HP website. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum…

How do I clear my printer cache from my computer? -

I need to print something but this -other- document is still trying to print. I want to get rid of it, but right-clicking and clicking cancel does not work. Pressing the actual cancel button on the printer doens t work either. I ve also tried re-starting my comp, no luck. Using an HP PSC 2175 ALL-IN-ONE. amp;amp; Windows Vista.

What kind of printer is used to make professional postcards? -

I want to make my own for my business advertising

As Maude Cat said, a professional printer is the way to go. That said, you can do some amazing things at home with the technology that s come along. I ve got a color laser printer at work and I print labels for some of our products to use up old stock materials. They don t look bad, but they re stock Avery labels and don t have the shine a printed label would. Also when you have to start replacing toner cartridges, of which my printer has 4 different ones, at $75 apiece I think I d check to what a printer would charge me unless this was a one off short run of postcards. You might take a look at the adverts in the back of Photoshop User magazine for some sources. I see a lot of ads for that type of thing in the back each issue. Hope that helps!

A professional printer will use an offset press, which is not for home use. If you have an inkjet printer, you may find that matte finish card stock (or even plain paper) is a little more durable than glossy. Matte will have good detail, but the colors will be duller. Plain paper will have lousy detail, but is most durable. (Fancy papers are also more expensive.) If you can afford a color laser printer, you ll find the color is not as good as a photo quality inkjet, but it will provide a better and more durable image on plain paper card stock. The other thing you have to think about is cutting the postcards. You can get pre-perforated forms for inkjet at business supply stores (such as Staples) but they are expensive. Unless you are printing a very small number of postcards at once, you would be better off to have them commercially printed.

Epson Printer is the best but expensive colour ink printer. Bestman

Why do some printers not let you print black and white docs when the colour cartridge is empty? -

It s so annoying - I rarely print in colour anyway yet the tank still goes down even when choosing greyscale. Is there some way to continue printing even after the colour cartridge is empty?

I dont particularly care for the way printer companies rip off their customers on ink, but this specific issue has valid reasons behind it. This might explain it http://ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.asp

you can to print properties and there should be an option stating if you want to use colour ink for black and white printing and vice versa. how to do it 1 open a document 2 go to print command 3 when the print dialougue box appear click on print properties and make desired changes or simplease of all i can look into your computer and try to fix it with remote assistance.

it depend on the printer model amp; brand. some allow some don t allow. once the ink cartridge is expose to air, whether you got use the colour or not it ll still gone down. even if all cartridge is empty, you are still able to print out black amp; white as there is still a limited amount of ink left which we can t see. once again depends on printer brand amp; model.

Go to control panel, right click the printer you use, choose printing preferences, then find where you can choose to use the black cartridge only, this should solve the problem.

it s a ploy by manufacturers to get you to buy new cartridges, even if you don t need them immediately. Cartridges are where they make their money on printers.

Some printers allegedly use small amounts of colour when printing black and white - to allegedly enhance the blacks blackness. Me, I think its a rip off

Some printers are just built that way. It s a money maker for the printer manufacturer because they force you to buy more ink!

How do I wireless print from a Mac to an Epson? -

I have bought a new Epson printer with my new Macbook I got last month. I can t figure out how to print wirelessly. I want this for college.

Is your Epson printer wireless? There are currently only a select few wireless Epson printers available, so chances are, yours is not wireless. You will need a wireless router, (that you connect to your DSL modem QWest, Comcast internet) and then a wireless print server that connects to your wireless router. If your printer is not wireless, you are better off going and buying the a cheap wireless printer ($130). I am hoping that your printer IS wireless and that you did your research ahead of time. First find out if your printer IS wireless and then repost your question with printer model and issues you are having trying to connect. The more information we have, the more we can help you.

Google wireless printer kits. There are kits you can buy with a receiver for the printer and a USB transmitter for the PC. Check http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp for cheap compatible cartridges for Epson. I ve been using them for years.

What is the difference in price for say a inkjet printer or a laser jet printer ? -

looking to purchase a printer, scanner, fax copier and I want to get something sturdy and easy to use, such as installing the ink, a multipaper fax, making pictures, having a lcd screen. I am under the impression that laser jets are alot more expensive.. thanks for your answers

Yes laser types are costlier, because in almost every measurable way it is sturdier, that include the actual printout. However the criteria you list is indeed out of most household budgets for a laser type but an inkjet based MFC is much less in cost.

Unless your running a business, the Laser, in what you want to use it for, is going to be very expensive. A good inkjet would be better..they do however use a lot of ink fast! and are a bit slower than a laser

Lasers are not that expensive at all. And they cost much less to use than an inkjet. The main difference is that inkjets tend to be more versatile (for instance, better for photos)

How do I get rid of the boarders that my Epson RX585 printer leaves on my pictures? -

No matter how hard I try my I just can t get rid of them and they are doing my head in, I ve managed to get the the sides okay, (I think) but the top and bottom are always 5mm to small, it leaves a boarder at the top and the bottom of the picture which is no good for what I want to do.... It s doing my F___ING head in please help me.

Some printers can only print to a certain extent if you think about it the printer needs a small amount of space to grab the paper. This is called printable regions. Usually if you have a border at the bottom you cannot do anything about this as the printer rollers need 5 mm to push the paper through the printer.

I assume you are using quot;Fit to Pagequot; and all your margins are set to 0mm? Margins are usually set in Page Setup or somewhere in the Printer Setup. You might also see an option to quot;maintain aspect ratioquot;. If the dimensions of your image do not match the aspect ratio of an A4 sheet of paper then you need to untick this option. The dimension of an A4 sheet of paper is 297mm x 210mm. So if your image does not match this aspect ratio, you ll need to untick quot;maintain aspect ratioquot;. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/glossar…

i have a hp printer here it tells u how 2 do pic when printing things as not 2 gp over board with the paper and ink look at the owners manual or go online 2 see if they have a support System set up i know hp does as well as ya ya hoo u can talk 2 a live tech 2 talk u threw the-process of-how2 do diff projects with it luck 2 u have patience things will work out lynnet

It depends on the application that you are using to print your pictures. And the word is quot;borderquot; if you want to hunt for help on the Web.

What kind of printer do I need to get for my laptop? -

It s a Windows Vista. Also where should I buy it from and what kind of price am I looking at?

Any NEW printer well work with vista. There are many different types of printers. Inkjet vs Laser. Inkjet is cheaper, but Laser does better quality but costs more. Really its a matter if you want to get one of these multifunction printers that can scan and copy. They are bigger and well cost more (then just a printer) but most people feel they are worth it now days (no need to go to a copy place). Other things to consider is a wireless printer. Meaning you print to it wirelessly, that you can put the printer pretty much anywhere in the house. Most Laptops have Wireless built in.

Any printer, any where, could be any price. My answer is as ambiguous as your question.

How do I convince my inkject printer that it is out of ink? -

I cannot override it Epson 700. It keeps saying to wait until the cartridge is empty. If I put in a full one, it still says the same thing and WON t go. Yes, I have turned it off, unplugged it, coaxed and yelled at it.

Sounds like you need a new Printer.. Try Hewlett Packard All in one psc. 1500 series. they are great.. :) E

offer some epensive chocolates? Seriously- call tech support.

Don t ever buy ink. That is where printer manufacturers make their money... from selling you ink cartridges. By the cheapest ink jet printer you can find that comes with the first round of ink cartridges and when it runs out, throw it away and repeat.

try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it

you gotta talk to it. In a good and nice way and with manners. Tell HER something like: I love you and we have had so many good times together. Remember when we used to hag out with the mousepad and the keyboard, Oh! and what about the 2nd anniversary party we gave to our Monitor friend, oh! my girl, please, just print me these pages!!

Download the SSC utility from here http://www.ssclg.com/Epsone.shtml it will allow you to re-set and override any of the Epson settings. Also the utility has a superior head cleaning facility

try this.... ....you are getting sleepy.... very sleepy.... when you awaken you will be out of ink and will want a new cartridge....

Why is there a printer installed on my laptop that I just purchased? -

When I purchased my laptop, I didn t install any printers to it. When I go into printers from the control panel, there is a printer installed. I don t own that type of printer and like I said I have never installed a printer to my laptop. Am I correct in saying that there should not have been a printer installed and that I have to install one myself?

It would have helped if you d posted the type of printer you re seeing. Some applications have virtual printers, like Office One-Note. They get installed with an application. So maybe you re right, maybe not. If it s not a quot;realquot; printer, then it probably goes with an application.

if you have received the laptop with packaging intact, you may be right! the laptop may have been part of a sale package which included a printer or was installed for testing by QA (quality control) dept as part of their standard operating procedure and somehow was not removed?

more info, what is the printer called?
