It is possible that a setting in the printer driver is not set for the proper tray causing that, but usually it is set to automatic. The printer also has tray settings that can be set for very specific things (i.e. labels, pre-printed, card stock, etc.) that may affect which tray the printer will try to pull from if it thinks one tray is one type of paper and the other tray is another type. Also many printers have tray settings that will select certain trays for specific reasons. Check your printer tray settings setup on the printer itself and in the printer settings in the computer printer driver/setup. Hope this helps. Best of luck.

when you want to print go into print option then click properties then find where you can click print two pages on one sheet (of course you would need to copy your A5 design so you have two pages of A5 design)

ON the computer that the printer is directly attached to: Go to START, the CONTROL PANEL, then Network Center (or whatever it is called), then you should see on the lower part of the page some pullet kinda things. You should be able to turn on printer sharing from there. To share a single printer, go to printers and faxes (usually in CONTROL PANEL) right click on the printer and click SHARING. Yeah, just set up a home network and network the printer as a shared printer to the laptop, you will need a wireless router for the easiest way to do this as long as you laptop has wifi ( I assume it does). Windows can automatically set up your network for you step by step, or you can get help at there website. Your other options would be to either transfer your files to the PC to print or install the printer on your laptop and hook it up to it when you want to print (a pain).

The speed will usually be listed in pages per minute (ppm). Laser machines will print faster even if the listed ppm is lower than an inkjet. Inkjets list ppm based on lowest quality, laserjets list it based on average quality. Laserjet machines cost alot more though, especially if they print in color. HP and Epson are typically good brands. Brother and Lexmark are the worst brands and the most likely to die. I used to sell alot of all in one machines at Office Depot and I recieved alot of complaints on the Brother and Lexmark machines to the point where I would completely advise people never to buy them.

I have a Brother MFC210C which is (in my opinion) the best out there and there are not too expensive. my favorite part is the ink cartridges...there are 4 separate ones that hold a lot of ink and are simple to refill. they are clear so you can see how much ink you have left and if you prefer to buy new ones they are cheap....as low as $2 each on eBay. they have excellent print quality and great scans and a fax machine too. I have had mine for almost three years and I am still using the same ink cartridges that came with it....just keep filling them up! make sure it has 4 ink wells instead of two. This way you only have to change the one that is empty and not throw away a colour cartridge that still have two colours of ink in it.

Laser is expensive. The inkjets are perfectly suitable for 90% of the tasks. I have a Canon 4 in one with individual ink tanks which is SO practical. Don t get a Lexmark, they are junk.

Depends entirely on the printer and what you re printing. Assuming you re talking about photos, even a top of the line laser is crap compared to a high-end inkjet printer in terms of quality. And black inkjet vs color inkjet would probably go to color since it would be using many, many, many more nozzles, hence a higher resolution. If you re talking about text, then laser s got em beat.

I agree with quot;I am I saidquot;. The problem with this is that laser printers kinda cooks the toner with heat to make it stick to the paper. I tried it once before, it s kinda OK, but the adhesive doesn t work as well if you use it immediately. Try to let it cool for a while. Should work fine.

They may smear, but I am not sure. I think that if you only do one label you should be fine. they may also melt a little bit because of the heat from the laser.

No you cannot. The clear address labels are made of a thin plastic which will melt in your fuser causing irreparable damage.

I bought an 88.00 Hp form Walmart, It does color, black /white, scans and I like it, just it paper jams here and there, just have to fix it but for the economical use, I deal with it. Cartridges are about 10.00-20.00 but they seem to last a while. Had a Dell and it ate cartidges quickly. I also tried the refill kits and they are Ok got to fill up about 3-4 times on one cartidge saving about 60.00

I really like my Epson Stylus CX7800. The ink cartridges are relatively cheap and you can replace them individually. The black one is about $20 and the colored ones are about $15. The printer is both mac and PC compatible. I paid about $180 for mine at Best Buy. If you join the Rewards Zone for $10, you get chits in the mail that you can use on your next purchase. I just bought a charger for my cellphone using them. A $30 charger was ten bucks. My Best Buy in Reno, NV gives me a free ream of paper when I buy two ink cartridges-- a savings of about eight bucks for the really heavy, high-white paper.

I m using an HP Laserjet 1020 (b amp; w) - 2,000 copies from a cartridge, more if you use economode. I use refill cartridges at almost half the price of an HP cartridge, and they work like a charm.

Look for a printer whose ink cartridges can be refilled. Avoid Lexmark and HP who have a chip in the cartridge that measure the ink drops so that they can t be refilled. An ink cartridge cost almost as much as the printer. So ink cost is a major criteria.

I really don t know exactly what you are asking, but I will give it a try. USPS does not want the general public to start printing barcodes on their mail. The reason being is that we require mailers that are claiming a discounted rate of postage to use very specialized software for generating their addressing. It is called CASS Certified. For the average home user, the software is far too expensive, and requires updating every 2 months, which can also be quite expensive. CASS performs an address matching function. This determines that the elements of the address match each other and also appear in the USPS databases so that they can be Delivery Point Barcoded. At this point in time the Postnet DPBC is the minimum you need to claim an automated rate. This whole thing just isn t practical for the average person to use.

Why does my printer take so long to print? -

It looks like the machine is set to only copy regular size paper, not legal. When copy comes out, the copy is missing one third of the original. I have an hp 1040 fax machine.

You can try scaling down the copy (70% for example) and see what happens. Beyond that, you re probably not going to be able to copy legal paper on a machine that only takes letter.

I know this doesn t really answer your question, but if you are producing photos in volume, whatever the printer you are going to use up an inordinate amount of ink and of course photo paper is not cheap. It works out much more economical and faster to go into Boots or similar and use their photo machines.

If you have a jam, I would suggest using a piece of card stock to remove it. If the printer has a bigger problem it might not be worth fixing. There are cheap replacements and the parts for these printers are to expensive to bother with. Good luck.
