Anyone ever operate a flexo graphic printing press? -

I have been a Plate maker in offset printing for 5 years and ran a digital press for a year is this Flexo press hard to learn and understand? What does the assistant press man do on a Flexo graphic press? Any info would help. Thanks.

Working on a Flexo is much like any other presses with the BIG difference that the material stretches and has to be compensate with a certain tolerance. Flexography uses fast-drying inks. I used to prepress for a labelling company and before outputting the films/plate, I needed to know how many teeth on the gear to compensate for the stretching. Otherwise, the finished product would be squished or over-stretched. By adjusting the gear ratio to the cylinder, the films are outputted giving the impressiion that they are stretched slightly. This is to allow the plastic on the press to fall back to normal once printed.

I am a former 4/color stripper, cameraman, platemaker. This is how it was done before computers. I have some knowledge of computerized stripping. I have been in the business for over 30 years. An offset press is an offset press. They all operate pretty much the same way. With water and ink. Flexo printing is done for labels that are put on bottles. Believe it or not the image is distorted in prep. This is because the label wraps around a cylindrical or somewhat cylindrical container. Believe it or not the distorted image comes out looking right because of the shape of the container. An assistant pressman s responsibilities will vary from shop to shop but you pretty much are helping fill ink fountains, putting up paper, hanging plates, setting color, and you get to wash up the press among other things. It has been awhile but I do miss it. If you are good you can write your own ticket to a certain extent. I am older now and it was kinda fun thinking about this. I hope at least some of this helps. They also have business inkjet which are tuned more for businesses and most of the time offer network support. For random information, the difference between inkjet printers and laser printers is the methods of transferring the ink to the paper. Inkjet printers spray the paper with ink, whereas laser printers charge the paper and fuse the ink onto the page in the pattern you need. There are also other types of printers, but the only other one of interest is Dot Matrix printers. You ll most likely only see these printers in banks, car dealerships, etc. They are really noisy and they typically look old. The reason they are still used is because they are the only printers that actually make contact with the paper, thus they are used when making carbon copies, for things like records.

they are both INKJET printers, as opposed to Laser printers. I think the only difference is their names -- it s how they are marketed to the public. Inkjet uses ink, and laser printers use toner.

They are the same. Deskjet is a tradename owned by HP. I recommend the Canon Inkjet printers. They have the best color. Their cartridges are more efficient and cost less.

i bought a universal ink refill kit from walmart. can t find em there though in the last year. only 17.88. each one had 32ml for black, red, yellow, blue. all my inks except for black only hold 10ml so it was a simple decision. there s lots of sites though for cheap ink too and new cartridges. i like meritline.com and there s tons of others. you have to find one that has your brand and free samp;h and good policies make sure when you get a refill kit that you have a drill with a tiny drillbit as the super small screwpunch is worthless to get into your cartridges. i used the stickies over the hole and put very wide removable tape over that as well to get a good seal and folded the sticky end over onto itself so you have a pulltab to refill it easily again with the syringe.

have someone else steal it for you ... just kidding ... you could go to a PC hardware store and refill it ... it costs me 10% of the money I spend on new cartriges!

You can do it in (Ctrl+P) There should be a list in drop down. If you don t find the printer there reinstall it. If you want to delete a printer go to control panel, click on Programs and features.

Got to start/control panel /printers. right click and set the default from there. This should default all your software to the Epson. Leave the PDF on, it is very useful and can be selected if you ever need to use it.

I d probably give them a try. if you stored them in a cool, dry location there is a good chance they will still work. Some print models will recognize that the cartridge has expired and may not print, but most should work ok. Actually you can still use it even it was expired. Open it and use alcohol cloth to clean the cartridge head. Shake it many times, then you can use it. Don t worry, they won t damage your printer.

You can use it, but it may have dried up and may affect your printer, so better to recycle. I don t think anyone will buy it, but you may be able to give them away for free to people who (illegally) refill them.

There will be some scanner software that came with the printer you can use that , alternatively open up photogallery, click on file, import, select your scanner and you can scan in your documents

I do not know the particular Epsom model. However, if you have a three-in-one printer, instead of pressing the scan button , you need to click the scan icon on your computer (and then click Scan on the window that appears). It will then display and save the document, which you can then print off at any time. I am assuming that you have loaded all the software that came with the printer. If you have a separate scanner, the procedure is the same. You click the scan icon on your computer and proceed as above. If, like me, you have a sepaate printer (set as default), your computer will use this when you tell it to print the item.

I don t own an Epson, however my Canon has a quot;borderlessquot; option. But it requires the use of photo paper. Standard paper is too soft and get bended by the head when it start directly on the border. Check if you have the option and check if it requires photo paper. And check the page setup of the software you are using to print.

I can vouch for the Avery Labels. I use them frequently at work to print product labels although I laid mine out using Adobe InDesign - slightly different problem than yours. As far as your problem, what you re looking for is Mail Merge from a good office suite. If you ve got Office, search the help files there for that. If not, grab a copy of Open Office http://www.openoffice.org and do it through that. Whatever you decide to do, make sure your first few sheets/tries are printed on plain paper. No need to waste the labels while you re experimenting. Good luck!

As you ve surmised, printing 5,000 labels isn t a simple task without the right tools. To do the job, you need two programs: a spreadsheet like Excel in which to store the data in fields, a word processor such as Word that can read the data from the spreadsheet, blank labels from a company such as Avery, and a printer that handles sheets of labels without pulling doubles or jamming. Go to File - Print - Print Rage - and select pages 1 and 2. Alternatively, I suspect you have blank pages showing up in word. Go to the very last thing you wrote in your resume and then hold down Delete (not Backspace) to delete any blank pages that are showing.

There is 2 things here. Firstly, due to layout and spacing, your CV is 4 pages of which 2 are blank. Go to the end of the last page of your cv and keep pressing the delete key until is gets rid of any blank pages after the cursor. The other thing you can do is when you press ctrl and p or select print from the menu, you can select which pages you want to print by putting the bullet point into Selection and if it s pages 3 and 4 you want to print the you put 3-4 into the box that follows it.

This can be vey common you can either delete the quot;blankquot; pages (if you have any) or you can follow the following steps: 1. file 2.print 3.page range (left handside of the NEW window) 4.type 1-2

In the print window popup, there is an option to specify a range of pages to print. Just put in 1-2 in that box.

It is a Lexmark x2470 and I ve tried taking the cartridge out and reinstalling it and turn the printer off and on. And yes I took off the tape on the cartridge. I dont know what to do, any ideas?

There are three options. Diagnose it by following these three steps: 1. There is magnetic data on the cartridge and in the printer. Take a cue-tip and rubbing alcohol, and gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridge, and the contacts on the printer (the place that lines up with the contacts on the cartridge when it is inserted). 2. If that does not solve your problem, it may be a faulty cartridge. I work in a retail environment that sells cartridges, and this does happen occasionally. If it s new, return it and tell them it went bad. If it s an old one, replace it. Be sure, however, that the place you purchase the new one from is willing to return it if it doesnt fix your problem. 3. If neither of these worked, it s time to replace the printer. If it s less than one year old, give the manufacturer a call. (Even if it s just over 1 year, it s worth a shot to call them). Otherwise, it s time for a replacement. Sorry! hope this helps!

Clean the drum. i suspectthat youhave a laser becasue deskjets don t have this problem LOL. Clean the drum but make sure that there is no direct light hitting the drum as it could damage it. Use a soft cloth and just running it lightly over the drum. rotate it by hand and don t worry, nothing is going to break LOL.. Use microfiber cloth. They are the safest. Now the printer should print perfectly.

Printing received email with standard fonts gives printout that is so small I cannot read it without a magnier? -

I often print received email for various reasons. The font on the printed email is extremely small if the email font is standard. Your file prompt no longer has print preview so I cannot adjust fonts. Any email sent to me which has special fonts chosen by the sender prints just fine.

on a mac when you go to file print, then you go to where it says copies and pages. follow the drop list down to ColorSync and click it. Then where it says Quartz Filler click on it. It is a drop list then go to black and white click on it. Then press print down at the bottom. Hope that helps!

I opened the little square on the back, then stuck my fingers in and pulled out the tube and put this into a bottle where I put a small hole in the cap.
