My printer says that it does not have a ink cartridge installed when it does? -

It is a Lexmark x2470 and I ve tried taking the cartridge out and reinstalling it and turn the printer off and on. And yes I took off the tape on the cartridge. I dont know what to do, any ideas?

There are three options. Diagnose it by following these three steps: 1. There is magnetic data on the cartridge and in the printer. Take a cue-tip and rubbing alcohol, and gently clean the metal contacts on the cartridge, and the contacts on the printer (the place that lines up with the contacts on the cartridge when it is inserted). 2. If that does not solve your problem, it may be a faulty cartridge. I work in a retail environment that sells cartridges, and this does happen occasionally. If it s new, return it and tell them it went bad. If it s an old one, replace it. Be sure, however, that the place you purchase the new one from is willing to return it if it doesnt fix your problem. 3. If neither of these worked, it s time to replace the printer. If it s less than one year old, give the manufacturer a call. (Even if it s just over 1 year, it s worth a shot to call them). Otherwise, it s time for a replacement. Sorry! hope this helps!

Sounds like an electrical failure in the cartridge. If it is, nothing you can do.
