How can I install my printer without the disk? -

I have a HP Deskjet 5440, and it is here with me. The installation disk is 45 miles away, and I ve already been there once today. How can I install the printer without the disk?

go to the hp website and download the latest drivers from the support section. Here s a link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw…

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw… Pick your Windows Version and download the driver...

Most of the HP printer drivers are located on the Windows CD under the i386 folder. Try installing the printer as normal. Then, when it s time to search for drivers, pop in your Windows CD. If that doesn t work, go to the HP website and download it from there.

HP Store on line has a complete support site with all drivers and software, or you can ask for another disc.

download the drivers here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw… Hope it worked, Take care, Mario

Whats the difference between a network printer and a local printer? -

I m using a Canon i850 on windows xp. My printer won t print, just flashes the power button orange and green.

Somebody already gave you an accurate answer. I would also like to add that printers can be networked in 3 ways. Most printers, without spending extra, will need to be shared on the network using a computer. You would connect a printer to a computer s USB port and use XP or Vista for sharing the printer. The problem with using XP or Vista to share printers with other computer on the network is the computer connected to the printer must be on in order for any computer to print from it. A second option would be to buy a print server. A print server will usually connect to your router with an ethernet cable, and it will connect to the printer with a USB cable. Additionally, the print server can also be wireless. The third option is sometimes printers come with print servers built right in. The HP Photo Smart c6280 all in one has this option. Most HP Office Jet Pros also have print servers built right in. The print server can be an ethernet jack on the back of the printer or wifi.

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro… Hunt down the manual for your printer, and look for how to clean/maintain it. Try using other programs to scan with eg: word, wordpad, photo program which you can import an image directly from source, then choose your printer etc. Network printer is generally hooked up so all computers on the particular network can print from it. (It only connects to one computer, but can be accessed by all on the network)It can pretty much be any printer these days. Physically, I don t think there s any difference :)

A network printer is a printer that connect to your computer network rather than to a computer. A local printer is one that connects to a computer via a USB cable, Printer cable(old) or a Bluetooth connection.

How do you manually clean the print head of an inkjet printer? -

My print quality has significantly declined and failed to improve despite the use of the provided cleaning utility. My printer is an Epson Stylus Color 680.

Your print head is integrated into the printer, it does not come out. Any sort of cleaning procedure that you carry out may very well damage the printer PERMANENTLY. Use your cleaning utility with Original Epson cartridges. that is the best and only way outside of servicing to regain your print quality. The method of freeing up a print head on an HP or Lexmark isn t going to work for you since your print head is a part of the printer.

Use 70% or 90% rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth even cotton balls will do. For heavely clogged heads soak in a small amount of alcohol for 10 mins and then wipe with lint free cloth dampened with alcohol. Never use tissues or paper towels the lint from them clog your heads even more.

Gian do not and I mean do not try to clean with your hands use maintenance programs that is provide with your printer.

Personally, I use a soft warm moist cloth and gently swab the head until the ink flows freely.

put it in a clean wet tissue or a cloth. leave it for couple of minutes. it will suck the ink down the cartridge. after you take out the cartridge look for the figure of the ink in the wet cloth. if the cartridge left a whole ink figure its already fixed. also look at the bottom of the cartridge if the dry area or lines was already wet with ink. note: use cleaning utility for best result (its a must) good luck!

Does anyone know a web site where you can go to get instructions to install a printer to your home computer? -

I have Windows ME 2000 computer software. I want to install and set up a Canon model # BJC-2010 COLOR BUBBLE JET PRINTER. What website is good for assisting and helping you install the printer? Are their free web sites for this? Is their a site you can go to amp; download something that will get you assistance with installing a new printer to your computer. I am not networked. This is a home computer/ pc -Please give me any info that i could use to install this printer. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks, A computer novice from Texas.

First step in installing a printer or any driver is that YOU must plug it in and let the computer take a few seconds to detect the hardware and once that is done it s going to ask you for software usually it s in the CD that will allow the computer to read from and install from and that s the first basic and final part of installing a printer after that nothing else is hard to do except trying to find out which button to press to print, scan, copy etc... noow if you do not have the CD, or driver file for that printer then you will need to go to http:\\www.driverguide.com and sign up there are very good so you will then goto search wizrard and select your category which will be printers and look for the model BJC-2010 COLOR BUBBLE JET PRINTER and that s how easy it is to install.

try this, http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro…

Yes! Canon USA provide free documentation for what you need: go to: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro… click on: Setup Instructions link for instructions as pdf file. You can download the printer driver from the same webpage/website. or http://www.usa.canon.com click on support -gt; pick quot;Consumersquot;-gt;Category: Printers ; Product Type: BJC series ; Select model: BJC-2000 series What you need is: - the printer driver ready on your PC. - a parallel cable to connect the printer to your PC. - download the installation instructions and follow the steps (to open the pdf file you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader from: http://www.adobe.com ) Note: for Windows Me ! 1. Turn OFF the computer 2. Conect the printer to your computer 3. Plug in the power cord - make sure the printer is plugged in. 4. Turn ON the computer. 5.If you see, right after the windows Me is ready, a quot;New Hardware Foundquot; click on CANCEL !!! 6. Go to where you have the printer driver (CD or folder) and click on Setup. Follow the steps.

clikc on start/help type in the box printer then click on the green go Connect a printer directly to your computer Most new printers support Plug and Play, while many older printers do not. The steps involved in installing a printer that is attached to your computer differ depending on whether it supports Plug and Play. My printer supports Plug and Play. My printer does not support Plug and Play. If you are unsure whether your printer supports Plug and Play, consider the following: Does your printer use infrared technology? If it does, your printer supports Plug and Play. Consult the owner s manual or packaging of your printer. Most printer manufacturers advertise the fact that their printer supports Plug and Play. Look for Plug and Play on the printer s list of features. Check the connector on the end of the printer cable that you plug into your computer. If the connector that attaches the printer cable to the computer is a USB connector, then the printer supports Plug and Play. tab

It s just a printer, right? Not a printer/fax machine/copier/telephone? If that s so, then you should just be able to plug it in and it should work. If not, they need to find a way to make it easier. For me, all I had to do was connect the wires.

How can I lower my cost for Ink Cartridges? -

This is the type I am using, Epson Stylus CX4800 Ink Cartridges. I d be even willing to refill with an ink kit if anyone knows of such a kit that would work with my printer s ink cartridges. I m doing a lot of printing lately and need to find a way to lower my cost. Also if anyone knows of a trusted site to buy ink for my printer at a good price let me know. Thanks.

I agree refill kits are a hassle and sometimes due to the software in these cartridges your printer might not except it. I would suggest a compatible (generic) brand. A lot of these cartridges are filled to capacity and tested before shipment. You also don t have to be concerned about your printers warranty all thanks to the MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT. More simply put, this means that your printer warranty cannot be voided just because you choose to use compatible products unless the manufacturer can prove that the compatible product caused direct damage to your printer. In cases such as this, the manufacturer may choose not to repair your printer but your warranty would remain in effect for all other warranty issues. I use compatible all the time and I have yet to come across any defect. Try this out. Good Luck.

If you are doing a lot of printing you may want to set your printer to a lower dpi setting. You can find this is quot;print preferencesquot;.

Imho I find that refilling cartridges is way out of skew in the cost/headache ratio. If you have to refill, many office supply stores will do it for you for a nominal charge. I ve found the best way to save a couple of bucks is to buy generic cartridges when available and use low quality print settings when you don t really need a gajillion dpi. Good luck!

How Can i share my printer through a wireless network and both computers have different os? -

My laptop has vista and my home computer has xp

you can go the print server route but you can also hard-wire the printer to your home computer... even though your OSes are different, they re still microsoft. if your two computers were on Apple and Windows, the print server would be your only option. What you would do is set up the printer on your home computer and share it. start-printer and faxes... right click on the installed printer and choose sharing.

you sure can, you can even buy a wireless print server. so you dont have to setup print sharing and leave the other computer on.

Well, you can by what they call a quot;print serverquot;, its a 40 dollar piece of equipment that makes your printer part of the network, or you can hook your printer up to one computer and share it. The other computer will have to join the quot;workgroupquot; and should be able to see the printer. (After you add new printer) http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using…

you need a wireless print server

Can someone help me print invitations from my Epson printer? -

I am attempting to print baby shower invitations using my Epson cx7450 all-in-one printer. Every time I put the vellum in the printer, it spits it out without printing anything on it. It works just fine when I put the same size regular weight paper in though. I have tried to change the settings, but nothing seems to work. I am ready to throw the stupid printer out in a minute! Please help!

Sounds like you have an Inkjet printer and the Vellum ( which is a coated paper) will not be able to be printed on with inkjet. You need a laser or Digital Printer for best results on vellum. What you can do , if you want to still use the vellum is just use it as an overlay to your invitations and print on colored paper or even white ( I am assuming that your vellum is white) paper with colored design, it should look good.

How can I print passport size pictures using my HP Officejet 6310 printer? -

I want to print passport size pictures using my hp printer and my digital camera.

Usually you can set the size of the picture that you want the machine to print. It can be set usually in the printer drivers on the computer so just use the computer as a server between the two devices.

Get into the printer settings and you can adjust the size of the picture from there, hope it helped good luck.

How do i add a printer to my wireless network? -

i want to be able to print from my laptop without having to use a memory stick. i have a main computer with has a printer and internet connected, and my laptop already shares the internet through a wireless network. please tell me how i can add a printer to my laptop!

Same as you would through a wired network, if there both on the same LAN? To share the printer, open the Printers and Faxes folder on the computer that was connected to my printer. To open the Printers and Faxes folder Click Start and then click Control Panel. Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes. In the Printers and Faxes folder, click the printer s icon and, in the tasks pane, click Share This Printer. Open the printer s Properties dialogue box, and clicked on the Sharing tab. Click Share Name, and then clicked OK. That s it—the printer is immediately available for other computers to use. Now that you have a network printer, you are ready to connect to it and print from other computers on the network. To connect to the printer Open Control Panel, and clicked Printers and Other Hardware. Click Add a Printer. Instead of adding a local printer, though, click Printer Connection and then browse the network for the printer.

There are two ways: On the computer that is attached to the printer enable file and printer sharing. On the other computer(s) you want to print from add a network printer. This means that the computer with the printer attached needs to be on all the time, but the price is right (free!). The other way is to by a network print server. You can get these to support parallel or USB printers. Plug it into the printer, plug it into the network (router) and follow the instructions that came with it. You have to buy the print server and it may be a little more complicated to set up, but now you do not need to leave the other computer on all the time.

Assuming your laptop can see the PC over the network (it should if it s already sharing you PC s Internet connection) then with XP it should be easy. On the PC select printers from the start menu. Right click on the printer in the list and select sharing then select share this printer give it a share name and then go to your laptop select printers and pick add a printer select network printer when the wizard asks and then browse for your PC s printer. Once it s found go through the wizard and everything should be fine......

You ll need to enable IP printing so your laptop can recognise your printer by an IP address rather than over serial cable - most printers are capable of that.

I use a Minolta Magicolor 2430DL which has a built in network card connected to my router. You can get these for under $300.00 and the print quality is better than most ink jets and much cheaper than any.

Purchase a Wireless Print Server. Install it on your network. Install drivers that come with the print server.

How do I print photos with an HP F380 printer? -

I want to print some of my pictures on printer paper, but I want to use my HP all-in-one F380 rather than going somewhere to print them. Someone mentioned Taiyo Yuden WaterShield blank CD-R s. Please help me to make the best selection, as we have a limited budget and need to produce various projects. It s too few to justify spending money for silkscreen printed discs. Thanks!!

What is best laser multi function printer under $350, for home office use? -

I need a Fax/ Printer/ Scanner and Copier for my home office. I do not have much space, hence need a multi function. Hate wires running all over , so will perfer a wireless networking option. I have researched extensively, but am not able to pin down a model, Looking for end user recommedation. max Price 350 USD

You would do better to consider using an INKJET, not a laser. Lasers, (particularly color units) have a mush higher average of quot;per pagequot; ink cost. Even in black and white. Maintainence and repairs are higher cost as well. If you are wanting to do high volume production work from a printer, you must consider the per page cost of ink, paper, media, toners, repairs, etc.. Most times you will be better off to use special media and get your work quot;camera readyquot; and then take it to a print shop. HP and LEXMARK both have excellent printer offerings in Inkjet and Laser models. Links are below. http://www.lexmark.com http://www.hp.com I am a 28 years sytems engineer and have serviced just about all brands and types of printer you can name. I very much respect HP printers, they are tough and reliable. I like Lexmark even better because they also are very tough and reliable, and as well, Lexmark has (on an average) on of the lowest per page media costs in the business.

How do I save pictures that i scanned from my HP C4200 printer? -

i scanned them and i can edit them on the page but i dont know where they are stored or how i can save them as files ?? HELP! Thank you!

scanner and camera wizard has preview and allow you to specify type and destination of scanned items. just click start, click printers and faxes, click scanner name, click scanners and cameras, double click on device and wizard pops up. just follow instructions from there.

after scanning pic or what so ever, computer will prompts the user to save it as a jpeg or bmp(bitmap) this file name format serves as your file, and this will save through computer as a default storage, c: then documents and settings, user accounts name, my document, my pictures

There are several options. I go to Windows Photo Gallery and click on FILE at the top. In the drop down menu select IMPORT FROM CAMERA OR SCANNER. your scanned pictures will then be in pictures and in windows photo gallery.

normally, by default scanned images if saved to computer would be under C: username\my documents\my scans

Why is my printer printing all my images red? -

My ink levels are high and I did a test print page to align everything, yet all of my pictures, especially black and white images, are all printing out mostly red. Anyone else encounter this problem or know what the problem is?

Easy Answer Your cyan nozzle is blocked You don t say what name or model printer you have but for example in my Canon IP6000 D printer here is what I do: Every month I take out all the cartridges and then remove the print head, a very simple one second operation. I take a few twin tips and a little alcohol and gently clean each of the 6 ink ports or jets, first one end for the alcohol clean and the other end to dry it off. Now I return the print head and the cartridges and go to control panel, printers and faxes, then I go to maintenance and press DEEP CLEAN. I do this 3 or 4 times in order to get the ink flowing through all the tiny ports. Now I do a sample quot;nozzle checkquot; (press the nozzle check button) and a sheet will come out of your printer showing that each color is NOW printing. If it isn t then you will have to go back and clean the blue and photo blue ports until it comes clean. That s all there is to it. Constant maintenance as above has kept my printer working for 3 or 4 years. To save money I fill my cartridges at about 50 cents per fill but you can buy cartridges if you prefer. Hope this helps. If you need any more help just e-mail me. Glad to help another member since many members have helped me down through the years.

Check all your color setting properties on the printer. If all look good, I would try reloading the drivers. If still print in red I would reinstall the printer/drivers amp; ensure the color scheme is set to Bamp;W only. Once you have that working you can try to print in color again. Good Luck

Why wont my laptop recognize my printer all of a sudden? -

Hey, I have been using an HP printer for the last year and printing from my laptop via a USB cable. I ve never had any issues before, but all of a sudden it won t print from it because quot;there is a problem with the current setupquot; I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and still I have this issue. The printer registers when I connect the cord, it just won t print. What happened?

Try printing the TEST PRINT button. Windows sends test page and puts up a quot;did it print?quot; dialogue box. If you answer NO it will gives you series of instruction. If you don t get a test page you likely have a driver problem.

How can I get just the printer driver from the Lexmark CD? -

I have a Lexmark X1185 and I would like to use it as just a printer. I don t want to install their software. It conflicts with some programs I want to run. Is it possible to just get the driver I need instead of installing the entire thing?

Here s a link to the lexmark web site. Just download the driver and give it a try. If it doesn t work then you can uninstall the driver. http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downlo…

You can use Add Printer Wizard (APW) and directly install the printer driver yourself. To launch: Start-gt;Printers and Faxes-gt;Add Printer (upper left) Dialog: 1. Click Next 2. Choose Local Printer attached to this computer 3. Next 4. Choose the USB port (If you know the USB). Otherwise go back to to screen (step 2) and check automatically detect checkbox under the Local Printer option. 5. Next 6. Click Have disk and browse to the CD and look for something Win_2KXP folder with .inf files in it. Then from there t will install the printer driver only. Don t worry about committing mistake. If you correctly chosen the USB port where you ve connected the printer APW will only pickup the correct inf file. Let me know if you need more help.

When I print why does red come out yellow? -

Obviously it s something to do with the ink cartridges, but I have no idea why it s doing it. I underline and bullet point stuff on MS Word in red, but when I print out the document it comes out yellow. Can I fix it or do I need to buy some new ones? Damn these expensive things.

Your ink cartridge is probally out of red ink, so it s replacing it with yellow. This means it s time for a new ink cartridge.

get test print using printer in control panel. see there is red ink in test page .but haven t there you can know empty red in your cartridge. then printed yellow only .because red ink made by using MAGENTA+ YELLOW then No Magenta print only YELLOW. color cartr. has 4 Inks to made all colors .Cyan(light blue) ,Magenta (Like pink) ,Yellow, and black. then one color doesn t to make all colors. solution see ink levels in status window if have. refill or replace a new cartridge.

Your printer uses Magenta and Yellow combined to make red. If red is coming out yellow, you re out of magenta ink (or the print head is clogged).

Change the printer cartridge. It is out of Red Ink

youre either running out of ink in the red bin or your wells are crossed. it is most likely the first option

You need to buy a new printer cartridge. Sounds like you re out of ink.

Lexmark x2580 always prints with a yellow background/highlight? -

Everytime i print everything has a yellow background/highlight. I ve changed ink cartridge amp; uninstalled and reinstalled software. Any one have any ideas what i can do as it s only approx 1 year old. Tahnk you.

I would suggest using the cleaning functionality inside your printer software. If that doesn t work, try opening up the lid and using Qtips to cleanup the heads. If that doesn t work, ask Santa for a new one for Christmas. Sometimes printers just break easy, and it s cheaper to get a new one than fix the old one

Mine does the same! Its done this ever since ive got it and its got to the point were i don t use it because nothing comes out right! I hope someones knows why this is and i ll defiantly be checking back later to find out- i just hope it isn t make of printer!

You may have a Virus or take the color one out and replace it could be defective .

How do I delet a print job from HP Pavilion computer connected to HP Desktop Printer? -

I thought that I go into File on computer but can t seem to remember steps after that.

Go into the control panel, click on printers and then look for the printer - you should be able to click on it and cancel the pending print job.

After file go to settings. Then go to printer and click on it. Go to file in the little window and delete all print jobs.

click on the printer icon in your tool bar. It should bring up the job waiting to print. Click on the document menu and click cancel. Or...go into your start menu and click quot;printers and faxes. Click the printer you want. Click the document menu and click cancel there.

There is a couple different ways, You should have a little printer Icon next to your clock, just double click that Icon and right click on the Print job and click Cancel, then turn your printer off then back on. Now if there isnt a printer Icon there, go to Start gt; Control Panel gt; Printers gt; double click on your printer and right click on the Print job and click Cancel, then turn your printer off then back on

You could hit CTRL+ALT+DELETE and go to quot;processesquot; and cancel it from there.

1: To cancel a print job, click on the Start menu and then click on Settings. 2: From the Settings menu, click on Printers. 3: A window will appear. Click on the icon representing the printer that you are using. A document window will appear. The document window lists all of the print jobs that are pending. 4: Click on the document that you want to cancel. This selects the document. 5: With the document selected, click on Cancel Printing. If the print job has already started, it should cancel after the current page finishes printing.

right click printer icon on taskbar open cancel or delete

When printing there should be a little printer icon at the ower right of your computer. double click to bring it up, select the print job, and hit cancel.

Open the printer and delete the jod.

for old printers go to... Contol Panel gt; Printers and Faxes gt; Your printer and the job should be there For modern printers with lcd menus on them they should have an onbourd printer tray you need to disable it there.
