How do i add a printer to my wireless network? -

i want to be able to print from my laptop without having to use a memory stick. i have a main computer with has a printer and internet connected, and my laptop already shares the internet through a wireless network. please tell me how i can add a printer to my laptop!

Same as you would through a wired network, if there both on the same LAN? To share the printer, open the Printers and Faxes folder on the computer that was connected to my printer. To open the Printers and Faxes folder Click Start and then click Control Panel. Click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Printers and Faxes. In the Printers and Faxes folder, click the printer s icon and, in the tasks pane, click Share This Printer. Open the printer s Properties dialogue box, and clicked on the Sharing tab. Click Share Name, and then clicked OK. That s it—the printer is immediately available for other computers to use. Now that you have a network printer, you are ready to connect to it and print from other computers on the network. To connect to the printer Open Control Panel, and clicked Printers and Other Hardware. Click Add a Printer. Instead of adding a local printer, though, click Printer Connection and then browse the network for the printer.

There are two ways: On the computer that is attached to the printer enable file and printer sharing. On the other computer(s) you want to print from add a network printer. This means that the computer with the printer attached needs to be on all the time, but the price is right (free!). The other way is to by a network print server. You can get these to support parallel or USB printers. Plug it into the printer, plug it into the network (router) and follow the instructions that came with it. You have to buy the print server and it may be a little more complicated to set up, but now you do not need to leave the other computer on all the time.

Assuming your laptop can see the PC over the network (it should if it s already sharing you PC s Internet connection) then with XP it should be easy. On the PC select printers from the start menu. Right click on the printer in the list and select sharing then select share this printer give it a share name and then go to your laptop select printers and pick add a printer select network printer when the wizard asks and then browse for your PC s printer. Once it s found go through the wizard and everything should be fine......

You ll need to enable IP printing so your laptop can recognise your printer by an IP address rather than over serial cable - most printers are capable of that.

I use a Minolta Magicolor 2430DL which has a built in network card connected to my router. You can get these for under $300.00 and the print quality is better than most ink jets and much cheaper than any.

Purchase a Wireless Print Server. Install it on your network. Install drivers that come with the print server.
