I saw an adapter to convert a standard printer into a wireless printer on an existing network, now I want one!? -

A little while ago, I was browsing the internet and accidentally came across a USB adapter, which plugged directly into the back of a standard printer and looked like an antenna. Has anyone else seen anything like this? If so, could you please provide a link to a UK retailer? Thank you for your consideration.

Yes they work, if they do not then no market. Other solution, the one I am using is Windows Home Server. A special computer and OS which makes great printer server and back up your main computer hard drive. Most windows and Mac can talk to the server s printers. I have a choice of three printers, All in one printer, color inkjet, and laser. My unix netbook can use the printers. My cost less than $200 and used computer.

I have a belkin wireless usb print server. Plug the printer into the usb port on the Print Server, Print Manager on the PC s then can connect to it, and disconnect automatically after 5 mins inactivity. works a treat.

You can get an adapter most anywhere that sells computers. You can also do a search online for a retailer near you. They are very simple to configure amp; use in an existing network. If you get in a jam or don t understand, most come with directions amp; a link for tech support. Good Luck

You can print from any computer on your network anyway. You just install a wireless network printer. In other words, wire the printer into computer 1 then install it on computer 2 through a wireless network connection. You dont need to buy anything if you have a wireless network already

How can I refill a Lexmark 28 cartridge and let it work with my X2550 printer? -

I tried to refill a Lexmark 28 cartridge which is used by my Lexmark X2550 printer but the software still refuse it saying that the cartridge is empty. How can I let the refilled cartridge be accepted?

The Lexmark 28, along with the 23, 24, and 29, are causing people who refill cartridges many problems. Those cartridges have two versions, a RP (Return Program), and a Standard version. The Standard cartridges have the letter A behind them. The RP cartridges shut off when considered empty, and can not be refilled. However, the A versions can. I get my ink from http://www.oinkinkstore.com and they have on their website a refilled version of the 28 in a high capacity version (apparently it does the same number of pages as the 34 black). However, after talking to the staff the levels might not changes, but it will print. If you want to refill it yourself, you will need to buy the 28A or get a 34 cartridge and try that one.

How do i get my printer to work? -

I have a lexmark 2600 all in one printer and windows vista,

if its new or under guarantee, i d take it back and ask for another one or FULL refund. if it s old, then read troubleshooting in the printer manual or visit the lexmark website.

1. Find out if your printer is compatible. You didn t say if your Vista is 32 or 64 bit. 2. The printer must be able to work with your 32 or 64 bit Vista. 3. Do not plug in the printer 4. Run the install CD for 32 bit or 64 bit ( which ever your system is) 5. When the install asks ( and not before ) power up your printer and plug it into your computer. 6. Print Sarge

If you don t have the disk driver you can download drivers from here http://downloads.lexmark.com/perl/downlo… choose the os either 32 or 64 bit vista OS after downloading run the setup.exe

I have a lexmark 1270 all in 1 printer that has installed but refuses to print? -

I have a new lap top and a new printer, the Lexmark X1270,and although, after many attempts I managed to install it ok, it will not print. The message to print is sent and the paper feeds ok, but the pages are all blank. Really frustrating!!! . Please help

go to start -printer and faxes - right click with your printer - preferences (printing preferences ) -settings - load factory settings . good luck !

Your cartridges are either empty or have dried out. You printer take the notorious 16/17 Black and 26/27 color. Those cartridge will dry out in a matter of a few weeks if not used. They are also very low capacity cartridges and will run out quickly. Unfortunately your solution is new cartridges.

How do you make a colour printer print black and white? -

i want to print a picture that is only available in colour but i want it black and white because i don t want to waste ink. so, how do you?

If your printer doesn t have the option to print in greyscale, then you can get a graphic editing program to do so. Printing in pure black and white will not result in a good pic. Choose greyscale. The graphic viewer irvanview, will let you convert to greyscale. It s freeware. Or search for some freeware photo software. There are lots. Picasa is one.

I am trying to find a printer that connects by wifi, is high speed and can scan. Can someone please help? -

I have looked all over, but I have had difficulty finding one. Price is not so much of an issue if the product is right. Please help!

Is this printer hooked up to at least one machine? I think it has to be, to be on your network unless it has its own jet (network) card. Click on the start button and go to settings. Go to printers and faxes. Click on add a printer and if it s hooked to that machine it s a local printer. If it s hooked to another machine than it s a network printer. It needs to be named to be on a network! Once you see it s name, you ve found it! Just click it once to highlight it and add printer!

I m looking for one myself. I ve looked at Dell.com, Kodak.com, Epson.com and BestBuy.com, the prices range from $124 (Dell) to $200. I ve looked at the All-in-ones printers, don t know about just printers itself, and some of them include fax. Hope this helps.

http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=… easy search on yahoo.

Try Walmart or OfficeMax they both have WiFi printers on sale this week. Prices range from $ 95.00 to $ 130.00

I am told to take ink jets out of my photo printer. How do I safely store them? -

I had to get rid of two because they had dried out, since they were practically unused, it became expensive.

Easy answer. You don t. Almost any newer ink jet printer has a maintenance algorithm that periodically fires a few drops. Some actually perform a maintenance prime after prolonged periods of disuse. Never unplug your printer. The automatic maintenance routines cannot run and a dried print head results. My Kodak ink jet printer can sit weeks at a time and works great every time. It doesn t hurt that their ink costs like half of everybody else s.

How do i add a printer to my computer? -

I bought a HP Photosmart C5500 printer and when i try to add it as a printer theres a list of all the types of printers but mine isnt there.. im so confused...

HP are fussy and forget the add wizard.... Unplug the usb cable from the printer first. Power on the HP and begin a fresh install. Re-connect the usb cable to the printer only when the program asks you. Let it finish. Reboot and Windows will find the new hardware. Open your fave Word Processor and you are ready to use it.

In many cases just make the connections and run the CD that probably came with it, and the software will find it. Or pick the closest model number.

How do I get my printer/scanner/fax to send a fax? -

My printer/scanner/fax machine is from Dell and won t send a fax to a nearby company. When I go to send a fax, I can locate the fax machine I want to send it to, and send it, but the progress stays at pending and the company isn t receiving the fax. Does anyone know how to get the machine to deliver the fax fully?

My guess is you have something configured wrong with your phone line. With online faxing getting so cheap you might as well ditch the extra phone line and check into getting an online number. Then you can send a fax like 5551212@myOnlineFax.com and everything is handled through email. There are several companies that can do this for you. They have been reviewed at http://www.FaxFromYourComputer.com Hope this helps!

You have to have the fax machine connected to a phone line and you fax with the machine, not your pc. There is no fax software installed because the PC doesnt see a phone modem. If you have a document to fax, you will need to print it out and put it in the fax machine

If you already have the document in Word or PDF format, you can use http://www.GotFreeFax.com to fax it online.

How do I do double sided printing on a Brother MFC-7820N? -

Is there a trick to getting a Brother MFC-7820N to do double sided printing? Just selecting to print on both sides in preferneces doesn t do anything! Is there a special way you have to feed in the paper or something?

Check the links below. Off-the-top, I don t see where your printer automatically prints both sides -- in which case you would have to print one side, flip the printed paper and reinsert, then print the other side. Think about it - my experience has been that printing on both sides sometimes yields a shadow - I have given up on it. I print singly, then Xerox two sided. Brother MFC 7820N http://www.brother-usa.com/mfc/ModelDeta… User’s Guide for Brother MVC 7820C http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc…

Looking at the spec of your printer i dont think its a duplex printer its does not say it is and they normally do so you will have to turn the paper over and put back in

What kind of printer do I have to buy to get Kinkos-quality prints? That nice black sheen? -

I recently bought an hpK8600dn for prints up to 13 x 17. I want to print a poster series on it, but the ink (mostly for the color black) just does not look that good, and this is on cardstock. How do I get the black you would get from going to Kinko s? Dif. ink? Dif. paper? Dif. printer? Please help.

a laser printer and a dozen eggs.

You need to use a different paper. use glossy photo paper, and you will get the dark blacks and good contrast. I like epson paper the best, but ymmv. edit: After checking on that printer, I see it only has 3 ink colors (plus black). I recommend getting a printer that has 5 color ink (plus black) or more. I ll post a recommendation in a second. edit: for the same price range, you can get the Epson Stylus Photo R1900 Ink Jet Printer This printer will print 13x19, and has the following inks: Photo Black (T087120) Matte Black (T087820) Cyan (T087220) Magenta (T087320) Yellow (T087420) Red (T087720) Orange (T087920) Gloss Optimizer (T087020) This will give you the prints you desire. If you want to save a few bucks, you can get the 1400 instead of the 1900. It has the 6 color (5+black) inks. It will be very good quality, but not top-notch like the 1900.

In order to obtain that sheen you need a coated stock. A high gloss paper will give you the look you desire. The printer you have is a great printer, much more economical to run than an epson. I use a K8600 myself for doing high quality prints of rendering. With a 13 X 19 I have found it most economical to either buy the stock online (13 x 19 paper can get dear) or buy a 13quot; wide roll and cut lengths as needed, A coated paper (either glossy or semi gloss) will give the ink a sheen.

Epson printers generally have a higher DPI (resolution), so the print quality might be better. Epsons also use 4/6/8 ink cartridges, so the ink quality would be different. I don t know what Kinkos are, but I know from first hand experience that high-end Epson printers such as R1900 have great print quality. You should also check your printer settings and turn them on to maximum DPI and print quality.

Agree that the paper is what makes the most difference. Choose Glossy photo paper and use quot;bestquot; or quot;photoquot; settings. If your K series is anything like mine you need to set the print-out type to quot;borderlessquot; in order to get the very highest quality resolution. (even if you don t actually want borderless prints)

Can a printer driver for windows XP still work for windows Vista? -

I have a printer that I bought back in 2002 and its a great printer. I recently got a new laptop and I need to know if the driver for that printer can work with windows vista even though the only driver download I could find online was for windows XP. What can I do. Do I need to just buy an updated printer. Is my printer too outdated to find a current driver download? Can anyone help me please?

Try it, it might work

The *best* option would be to get a new printer. You CANNOT install the XP driver and expect it to work. Won t happen. A way around it would be to find a compatible printer driver that came with Vista. For instance, I have an HP Photosmart 1000 printer which is not supported under Vista. However, the printer works with the Vista Deskjet 970Cse printer driver. Of course, it all depends.

Just look for the vista driver for it, if the company of the printer thats yours is doesn t have one (which I doubt) then you ll need a new printer.

Yes it will work, but you can get the Vista drivers if you want. Just go to the printers web site and download the Vista drivers.

Check on your printer s website for updated drivers for Vista! The drivers are free to download since most people have a lot of versions now!

Your XP drivers may work for vista, try installing those drivers,it ll install or prompt you that it ll install with recommended settings.just click on it,it may work..

Go to the web link below and type the name of your printer in the second box , leave the first block as hardware.

if its software supports vista or if you will be able to find update on web for your printer softwrae

should work. mine did.

Of course it can

Why is my font size tiny when i print from a internet page? -

I have a Lexmark Photo printer and everytime i print a document from the internet the font size always defaults to the smallest, its that small i have to use a magnifing glass to read the text, can anyone please help me. Thank You In Advance!

Here s the thing: when your computer sends a command to the printer to print out this internet page or that word document, there s a silicon chip that rewrites the command so the printer can print the file. I m betting that there s something on the page that s causing the printer to make the font size smaller. It s also possible that the browser font size has been lowered somehow. Another one that pops into my mind is your printer settings, which defines how the computer sends signals to the printer. You might have it to Shrink to printable area , and so the computer puts the whole page on one paper in the print command, so that s why it comes out like that. If it s none of those, then I m not really sure.

it probably just sets itself to default maybe try the printer advance and settings

There are 4 ways to reduce or enlarge print on your PC (1) Hit quot;viewquot;, text size, then largest, larger, medium etc (2) At Outlook or Express press,Tools, options, then quot;composequot;. Now type in the font you like, the colour you like and the size you like for both quot;mailquot; and quot;newsquot;. (3) Hit start, control panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, then DPI settings. Here is where you can either change to 96 (normal) or large size (120) or hit custom and you can choose your own number, such 105, 110 etc. (4) Hit start, control panel, display, then quot;appearancequot;. At the bottom left you will see options such as quot;Large fonts, extra large fonts etcquot;.. Choose one of them and then hit quot;apply and OK so that the change will take effect. With these changes you can increase EVERYTHING ON YOUR DESKTOP. But there will a slight reduction in your screen visibility so it is a compromise. Choose what is acceptable. And if you do NOT like a change you can always retrace your steps and revert to the former status. Please write down what you are doing AS you are doing it so you won t make some change and FORGET how to reverse it! Spend some time changing these three options on your PC to suit your vision preferences and how you would like your e-mails to appear when they arrive at your Aunt Agatha s house. So many PC users seem to be stuck with black 10 point Roman which is such a shame. There are lots of beautiful fonts like Comic Sans, Verdana etc and colours such as Christmas green (right now), later on sky blue and purples which can add class to your e-mails. You mentioned printing from the web. If you have highlighted or chosen and article from the web, just press quot;filequot;, then quot;print reviewquot;. Your article will come up, showing you how it looks and telling you how many pagesit will be etc. But at the top right you will notice an option called quot;shrink to fitquot;. If you hit this you will be given the option of printing your piece 50% or 100% or 200%, almost any percentage you wish. Choose 150 for example, then go ahead and print your piece. It will print quite a large size type. This will help you choose, in future just what size you want your printed document to be. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas and good luck.

change the font size go to toolsgt;internet optionsgt;fonts

Because the Internet font size is smaller than that of Microsoft words

Why is my printer printing my word document in a column of one letter at a time? -

I ve been trying to print a word document, but for some reason my printer is printing it in a column on the left margin that is one letter per line. Everything looks normal on microsoft word but when i look at the print preview it appears the same way as it is when I print it. How can I fix this?

take a look at your margins for one, and then go into your printer and tell it to print on a regular size piece of paper...

Where do a find a driver for a Xerox DocuPrint P8ex printer? -

I have a Xerox DocuPrint P8ex laser printer and need drivers for Windows XP and also Vista. Can anyone help me out?

Oh, I think I wouldn t worry so much about the driver in your shoes as purchasing a new printer. According to the link below: quot;Xerox discontinued support services of the Small Office/Home Office product line as of December 29, 2006. There are no plans to develop Vista drivers for these products. Please check with a Xerox Sales Representative for Vista-supported products.quot; Printers are considered disposable because they are (relatively) inexpensive. The cost is truly in the ink. It might be a wiser alternative to go with a newer all-in-one and avoid all of the driver issues, as well as have better printing.

How should I get this printer working? -

I have a Lexmark Z65 printer, but my computer is running Vista. None of the drivers listed on Lexmark s site are for Vista.

If you have 64 bit vista - you need a new printer. However if you have 32 bit vista the unidriver listed on lexmarks page should work. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/do… However you have to manually install it b downloading the file and then adding a printer directing it to open the recently downloaded file as the driver.

At one time, when my computer had Windows 2000 as its operating system, I had a Lexmark X83 all-in-one. It worked great with Windows 2000. When I upgraded to WIndows XP, it never did work. Lexmark never did release drivers for Windows XP for that model and I had to either get a new printer or downgrade to Windows 2000. I have since purchased a Canon multifunction and it works with Windows 2000, Windows XP, Vista, OpenSuse and Mac OSX. (As well as the HP LaserJet 4050) The point, I guess, is that Lexmark wants you to either stick with an older OS or get a new printer. Typically they don t upgrade their drivers to an OS that comes out after the issue of the printer/driver package.

I would try the XP drivers!
