For even more flexibility, get a print server. They re cheap. Connect it between your router and your printer. Now any machine on the network can use the printer. Best of all, the printer would stand independently; i.e., you wouldn t have to have the system to which it s connected turned on in order for others to use it, as would be the case if you shared it from a single machine.

the little lines are called quot;Bandingquot; and it s due to the fact that you re printing a really low quality on photo paper, go to your printer and select the best quality for photo paper. Also you can t use photo paper with a non photo paper printer, Not only will it continue with the banding, but you can expect alot of jamming.

The lines are caused by the ink running low. To get rid of them, you will need to replace you cartridge. Since your color has three colors in it, if one runs out it will cause that effect, or your colors will be off. As for the 5 x 7 paper, just put it in there like normal, but move the guide over to the side of the paper. it may take a couple tries to get it to work just right, but have faith.

i found that going into the printer menu and then opening up printing preferences, i was able to change to the proper paper and that problem stopped. hope this helps: )

If it says you are low on ink then that is the reason you have the lines. You just put the paper into the feeder into the middle if it doesn t work try cellotaping it to an A4 in the centre, even better cut a piece of paper the size of the photo paper and stick it to the A4 then make sure the print layout is to your liking and then try it. have fun

It will do a very nice photo, the grey scales suck so black and white printing is out of the question.

The printer heads may need to be cleaned and there should be a setting to do that. The ink could be bad, where are you buying it? Does it print just black if you ask it to? Try cleaning the print heads.

Oh, if they are just dry and not empty, use a damp cotton or lint-free soft cloth and try to rub the bottom-side, which releases the ink. It should work, give it a try on a faint print, and from the next time onwards, remember to keep them packed until changing them. I am not sure about any kind of alcohol, but I don t think it will cause any serious damage.

Make sure it can be reused. Other dry cartridges for not used for long time easily damaged. Get a new one for printer safety.

Can someone help me with my printer issues? -

My printer is being retarded. Its a Kodak All In One printer and we recently bought new ink for it and shortly after we printed stuff everything started turning weird. It should be one of the options in the print/page setup. As for borders, you would have to go make those choices in the micrsoft office itself

I have a new computer with Windows Vista but a couple year old printer that doesn t work with it. HP doesn t have new drivers or software prepared yet.

Often you can use XP drivers or printer family or series drivers to get around this. For instance, if you have an HP Deskjet 722c, you may be able to select amp; use fairly generic HP deskjet drivers or 700 series drivers.

You chuck it out the window cussing profusely lol. J/K Unfortunately thats a big problem with Vista and many things arent compatible yet. Have you tried to install it with a differant driver? Vista should have a list of printer drivers and may have one similar that will work. I know i had a Citizen printer that works using a Epson driver. Sorry to say, Vista is still not compatible with alot of printers, scanners, and other additional devices. There are kinks that are still being working on with Vista and thats one of the main problems. I had a brandnew Vista laptop and it sucks. When I type it freezes, the touchpad stops working. Sent it in 3 times and nothing was done!! Going back tomorrow as we speak. I suggest find other means of printing or find a printer that does work with Vista...

I m having the same problem with my Lexmark printer. I think we are out of luck and will have to go buy a new printer (again!). If they haven t created updated drivers by now, they probably won t because any electronic 2 years old (by their standards) is obsolete. Sorry. You could check on www.drivers.com though. We print our own flyers, postcards and brochures (about 2500 per month) in-house and found that the XEROX Phaser solid ink series produced the best quality and cost per print overall. If you need to print flyers AS a printing business I would reccomend Konica Minolta Bizhub series.

See if you have a head to toe option. If not you must rotate the document before printing that is either the front or back page.

Why does my printer keep skipping lines? -

So the printer i have is an HP Photosmart C4480 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier and whenever i print a paper, or anything that has words, it totally skips lines, cuts them off and all that. I did the printer tests, and they come out fine, i printed pictures, that s fine, but it s only with words. I ve only used it a couple times, and i just got it like, a couple months ago. I used to have no problem with it until about a month ago.

So what has changed with this printer since a month ago when it worked fine? Anything? Have you changed computers? Or changed software (like maybe went from XP to Vista)? What software is it that isn t printing correctly? It sounds on the surface like there is a driver issue between the software you re printing from or else the OS and the printer. Without more information from you, I d recommend downloading the latest driver for your OS (OS = operating system and operating system = XP or Vista) to see if this clears your problem up.

Make sure the correct paper size is selected. Also check a print preview on the computer (in Microsoft Word 2003 and before): File then Print Preview if that has the lines missing then the computer is the problem try another word processor program or contact your word processors manufacturer. If the words are visible print the document, if they are missing go to printers and faxes then right click your printer then select properties then select print test page if that has a problem then click troubleshoot and follow directions or contact HP, if the test page is fine contact HP and tell them the problem but also inform them that a test page is fine.

How do you know if printer cartridge is faulty as far as fit? -

4in1 HP. Replaced black cartridge. Error message on little screen saying to take out and replace. Did so and carriage started sliding back and forth nonstop hitting the sides of the machine quite hard. Error message on screen then garbled. Prior the screen said paper jam, but there was none. Machine only a few months old. No help in manual!

See if Windows has a generic driver that will work for it. If not, then you can t. Connect the printer and see if Windows can install a working driver through the Found New Hardware Wizard that pops up. If you get any message to the effect of could not install new hardware or there s a problem with new hardware then you re out of luck and will need those drivers from the manufacturer.

There should be a button on the printer that lets you clean the heads, just look for that. Sounds like a cleaning is all it needs.

Don t know your machine in particular but try going into quot;printersquot; and quot;printer servicesquot; and look for something that says quot;clean print headquot; or anything similar. There may be instructions on the new print cartridge pack about how to clean it - maybe with a cotton bud - but do read what it says first. If you haven t used the printer in such a long time maybe the in replacement was beyond its best before date too?

usually this indicates a print cartrage that is defective; try removing the cartridge and cleaning the interface between cartridge and printer; if this does not work replace cardridge

The light/button by your mousepad turns on/off the touchpad just in case you re using an external mouse.

How is the epson stylus photo R200 printer performance wise? Found good deal, maybe??? -

Is it outdated? Is the print quality and speed good? New in the box for $26.00, giving as a gift to someone who weekly gets prints from the drug store. Have to pick up in 2 hrs.

Well...maybe this response is too late, but for your assurance, the R200 is not a bad scanner. It might be more cost effective to get a new Epson. Even though it s about 3 years old it still prints a better picture on Epson photo paper than current HP models. The only caveat is that you ll probably need to get all new ink cartridges for your $26 printer. For some reason Epson inks have a shelf life...I don t know if other manufacturers do the same. New Espon inks for the R200 will run you about $65 so you ll be out about $100.

Hi Edwin Between normal and Draft, you save 60% of the ink. What happens in draft mode is that, the printer uses less ink because due to the output being at half the resolution than in normal mode. As for Best vs Draft, you save 75% of the ink.

That depends upon the printer, it is generally anywhere from 20-50% on draft versus normal. Best again depending upon the printer can use up to 6X the ink used to print on normal.

1) Turn on unit 2) wait until it s done initializing 3) press Setup button 4) Use arrow keys to select Maintenance 5) press Enter 6) Use arrow keys to select Reset to Factory Defaults (or something like that) 7) press Enter The unit will now have all settings back at default, including auto-answer. Unit may not work with answering machine on that same phone line.

Hi All If it says paper jam, first, remove the tray and check underneath to make sure their is no jam. Secondly, open the cover , remove the cartridge to se if the paper is not caught in the feeder. Lastly, their is usually an opening in the back. Check to make sure the paper is not jammed there. Note, that even a small piece of papet, 2 inch x 1 inch can indicate a paper jam. Usually, that is found when you remove the cartridge and quite visible in the corners usually.
