What makes it more expensive to print in color than in black amp; white? Isnt ink, ink, whatever the color? -

like most said the pigments, also, the coding for the printer would be much more intensive. The computer will have to take all those shades that the people made and convert them to whatever kind of printer it is, so it would have to mix those to get the shade that you wanted.

Color cartridges contain specific pigments that are more expensive. When you print a color graphic or picture, the computer tells the printer how much red and yellow to spray onto the paper to get the right depth of color for orange ( or any other non primary color). thus, you are using two inks or more instead of just black, which is cheaper to produce.

No, because there are differnt chemicals used and are differant prices... so it costs more sometimes; )

Yes, that is true. However black and white only needs black ink and white paper. Colour uses what is called CYMK or Cyan, Yellow, Magenta and Black (K is from a German word for black that starts with K if memory serves). With these three you can make any known colour relatively easily but, as you can see, it s 4 times the colours of ink. Also, production of coloured inks is a bit harder. When it comes to professional printing, like for magazines, the big reason for the cost difference is setup. Prepping for a 1-colour print job is simple compared to 4-colour.

Why is there a white line through some sentences when I print? -

I have an HP 6150 printer. When I print a page, from the glass or from the computer, there are horizontal streaks of nonprint of varying widths in the letter. Can someone provide cause and remedy?

When mine did that i cleaned the nozzles. Worked for me

Below are a few possibilities: 1) The ink level could be low, replace the ink cartridge. 2) Try printing with a higher quality setting, for instance change the print out from normal to photo. If the lines persist the printer might be damaged. 3) There might be a hiccup in printer s components, it could be on the hardware or driver. Go to control panel -gt; printer and faxes -gt; right click on your computer model HP 6150 -gt; properties -gt; under the General tab -gt; Click on the printing preference button -gt; go to the services tab -gt; Click on service this device. 4) If all this doesn t work i suggest you take it back to your local distributor for RMA aka exchange if its covered under warranty. Else get a new printer. Hope this helps

The print heads are dirty or damaged. Use the Clean Print Heads command in the program for the printer. If it still does it after 2 rounds of cleaning then the heads are probably damaged.

Lack of Ink more than likely buddy, thats usually what happens when its beginning to run out :)

If all kinds of printers can be used for sublimation? -

I would like to buy a printer and one set CISS to star my shop about sublimation products, but I don t know which kind of printer and CISS are fit for me. Any one has some good suggestion?

I also have several friends doing business about sublimation products. I checked with them just now, and most of them recommend EPSON R230. For the details, you can browse http://www.printingitems.com/ca1-stylus-photo-r230-pa279.html

How do you connect 2 computers to one inkjet printer with out a network in place? -

Can you use a USB hub to connect both pc s to the printer?

You can buy a printer splitter from Staples, amazon best buy etc. It allows you to connect multiple PC s to a single printer. There are mechanical models that are cheap, but you need to flip a switch depending on where you want to print from, or electronic models that detect a job and switch automatically. Just make sure you get all the required cables, they are not always included.

For the following you just need a regular LAN. You can connect the computer to a one computer. Then go to control pannel and find that computer. Right click on it and click share this computer with others. Then you will go through a process which will end up sharing your printer with the other comoputer throgh the LAN. I did this for about a year. The only problem is that the computer that is directly connected to the printer needs to be ON all the time. Otherwise when users on other computers click quot;Printquot; it won t process the request. Hope this would help.

if the computer has a usb and parallel port on it connect one computer via the usb port and the other computer via the parallel port. this is probably your best bet short of creating a network. it will only work if the computers and printers are nearby each other.

Go out and buy a 30 dollar router (wireless preferably) and hook both computers to the router. Go to the computer with the printer and share out the printer then everyone on the network with access can print.

You need to at least create a home network. You can do this by simply buying a crossover cable, use network wizard to set up the network and then share your printer. I do not think the usb thing will work. Your USB hub only has one out put correct? try the home networking, Google it. Good luck

Using USB connection will be Costly....But if u have a network enabled printer,U can buy a Router for 25 to 30 $$... And USB Connection for Multiple computers are not suggested..

How long is a printer suppose to last? -

I see printers with a 10K/month duty cycle, but how long can they do that sort of work? A year? Two years? How do they figure a duty cycle?

The answer is that you will replace the printer before it should fail. This is because most printers last 6-7 years of average use, but the ink becomes either unavailable or too expensive by that time.

In this world, computer and accessories become obsolete almost at the time of purchase itself. Physically it can last reasonably long, if good care is taken. I have myself used an Ink Jet Printer for about 3 years.

It really depends upon the Brand name. Running a printer at maximum capacity all the time is without question going to shorten it s life span. I find with my HP s at work they require serious servicing at around the 100K mark. ALthough that may be a skewed perspective, working at a comany that does a high volume of commerical print, we tend to take excellent care of the printers.

well printers that are made for heavy duty jobs can last real long despite the 10,000 pages per month you mention... i personally have seen printers that have been in use for virtually eons and are still working under heavy load. the printers used in my university for student related jobs actually print pages almost every few seconds and have been there for many years now.. they are still working fine and serving almost 1500 students of the university!

I worked in the past at a Toner Cartridges manufacturing plant and punished printers beyond their duty cycle, at the peak I was printing a whole skid of paper (40 reams) every three days the only thing is to give them good service. I did that for 5 years

Why is my printer printing pages that are blank? -

It is fairly new with new ink. HP laptop printer and every time I press quot;printquot; it prints but the pages have nothing on them. The cord is secure and I checked pretty much everything there is to check. What could be the problem?

This issue occurs due to the cartridge nozzless, print spooler or driver software problem. I suggest you to check the ink cartridge volume and then follow the steps to reset the printer. 1. Please open the top cover of the printer and remove the cartridges. 2. Turn off power to printer. 3. Disconnect power cord and all cables connected to printer. 4. Let printer remain disconnected for at least 1 minute. 5. Reconnect the power and data (USB or parallel) cables. 6. Insert the ink cartridges into printer. If the solution wont work,, then follow the steps to restart print spooler. 1. Click Startgt;Run 2. Type services.msc 3. Click OK 4. A Window will pop up with so many services listed. 5. Scroll down to locate quot;print spoolerquot; in the list, right click on it and click quot;Restartquot; This should resolve the issue.. if the issue persist then reinstall the printer driver software or clean the contacts with soft cloth , don t use alcohol or try with another new black Ink cartridge. Regards, Mehboob Jani

Driver is not right. Remove the printer from the printers list, and reinstall it, and print a test page. Blank pages are common if the wrong driver is resident.

When printing yahoo pages photos are printed to small? -

I ve noticed for the past few months, when printing a page that has photos of people on yahoo answers and questions, they look the right page size but when printing the page the photo boxes are very small and you can hardly see them. What happen? I know it s not my printer because it prints everything else in the right format size. I believe it s something on their end. Did this ever happen to anybody else?

If your printing individual pictures, you might want to save them on your comuter and then open up windows office picture manager to make the image bigger by zooming in or you could just edit and resize it by going to you pictures document and right clicking on the photo.

How do I connect my HP DeskJet printer to my laptop? -

I have a CD that says HP DeskJet 840C and the printer says DeskJet 842C. Will this make a difference? Please explain in very simple terms. Thank you.

The same driver will work for both printers. The following page, from the HP website, tells you this about the differences between the DeskJet 840c and the DeskJet 842c printers. quot; The HP Deskjet 840C and the HP Deskjet 842C printers both have the same basic printing features and functions. The HP Deskjet 840C printer, however, is directed at the worldwide channel, and the HP Deskjet 842C printer is directed at the retail channel in the U.S. and Canada only.quot; If you wish to obtain the driver specific to the DeskJet 842c, try the second url below.

Yes, It will If You have the Printer, You Should download the driver from hp.com you see 840c is made for the 840c and the 842c nedds a 842c cd hope that helps

How do you make a inkjet printer to work? -

I have a printer that sat in the closet too long, I installed new ink jets, but it still does not print, how do I get it to print without taking it in for repairs? I think it would be cheaper to get a new one, I have a HP and also an Epson Printer

Print heads are clogged, try running the drivers cleaning cycle a few times. Failing that, replace it

Please explain in more detail about what you mean when you say it quot;does not printquot;. Does it act like it is printing, feed paper through, etc., but just nothing gets printed? Or are you getting errors from the computer?

I think after all this time, toss it and get a new one. Right now Epson is having a blowout on the 5-color R280 for $60. It even prints on DVDs. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consu… As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn t compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson and have had no down time since. Epson has also made things easier for their customers by standardizing their cartridges. Most of their printers use one of two types. The three-color plus black use T069 (CX5000 CX6000 CX7000 CX7400 CX7450 CX8400 CX9400FAX CX9475Fax NX100 NX105 NX400 Workforce 30/40/500/600 and C120) and the 5-color plus black use T078 (R260 R280 R380 RX580 RX595 and RX680). This means you should be able to find a lot of people who use the same cartridges you do. When it s time to replace the printer, the next model will probably also use the same ones. Though I am quite happy with the results of the CX8400, if you really want the absolute best photo quality, go with one of the 5-color ones. The biggest complaint about all inkjets is the high cost of ink cartridges. http://ccs-digital.com has cartridges for about $4.50 each. They also have a unique product - a two-piece cartridge where the ink is in a separate tank inside the cartridge. When the ink runs out, you replace just the ink tank and the original chip resets itself to full. By keeping the same chip, you save 1.50 per cartridge. Ink tanks are only $3 and hold 50% more ink than disposable cartridges.

How do you clean the printer heads on an HP printer? -

I have an HP Photosmart 7450. In the booklet, it says to follow the directions on the software that came with the printer. I never had any software with the printer. I went to HP s website and downloaded what they call software and drivers, but there is no software that tells me how to clean the printer. The cartridges in the printer are new and I am getting lines throughout my documents so I am pretty sure it just needs to be cleaned. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am not familar with that printer, but the newer printers actually have blades that wipe off the print heads. You can see this clearly in the HP Photosmart c4280. Go to a retail store and open the door. You will see the ink cartridges move to the right, and then underneath the cartridges, a wiper will move to the front of the printer and move back. That little thing is wiping the cartridges so that it will not have ink gummed up on the print heads.

You should be able to go into your printers and faxes section (depending on what OS you are using) and right click on your printer. Click on properties and there should be a tab that allows you to perform a test page, nozzle check, head cleaning.

your problem may not INCORRUPTED WITH CLEANING YOUR CARTRIDGE S HEAD . YOU WILL RECHARGING YOUR CARTRIDGE

How to link computers with printer via wireless network, using XP and Vista.? -

Hello, I have a primary computer, connected to my wireless network, wirelessly, and connected to my printer, physically. This computer runs on Windows Vista. I have a laptop, which uses the same network, and when I set it up with my printer, it will work, and print. But if I restart the computer it loses the settings and will not work again. I have a feeling that this is a common mistake, or a XP-Vista linking bug. I can supply more information, although I do need assistance.

http://www.purenetworks.com/download/tha… that should work my friend,...see if that solves the problem if not i think i might have a complete full trial kit for yah

What is the price to print 50 letters with a small colored picture on the letter? -

I agree with the first poster this question is like asking how long is a piece string - and this is not me being funny towards you. It is a reasonable question to ask but the print cost would involve many factors - some of these are: How much colour how much black? What printer make and model? What paper are you using as this effects the cost if you are home printing? I would think that it might be cheaper to go to a profession printers for a quote. EDIT I have just seen your edit. I would say that is no too bad but I would think you could try a few others places for quotes and also ask each or them if they will print you a sample. That way you get to see which printer is really the best value.

That question can t be answered as asked. It depends on too many factors.(font size, picture size, dpi settings, cost of ink, etc.).

Is there a way round using a printer if you dont have a 25pin parallel port on your laptop? -

Bit annoyed i missed this point out when i bought my Sony Vaio although i rarely print but since my ageing Acer had one i guessed, i assumed they would be standard. Guess not. Do any other ports double up this job? At least my old laptop is still working.

Parallel ports used to be standard, but they ve been superceeded by USB. It s been quite a while since I saw a printer for sale that connected to the parallel port. You can get USB to Parallel Adapters though.

unless the printer is very old it should have a usb port on it as well as a parallel , if not then its probably time to get a new one, printers are getting cheaper all the time and a new one will give much better results

You can always use an adapter such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… A little expensive, but a bit cheaper than a brand new printer. :)

No it s not cheaper to get a new printer tigerdirect.com has Parallel to USB converters for 12.99 plus whatever your shipping would be. So you can go to this link and look at it. GOOD LUCK!!!

you can get a 25 pin to USB adapter and just hook the printer up to a USB port.

You can get a USB to parallel converter, but you ll probably find it s cheaper to buy a new printer.

How do you take out empty cartridges from your printer? -

I m new to all this so could you please help me? First best answer gets best answer!

Removing and Installing Ink Cartridges Be sure you have a new ink cartridge before you begin. Once you start the ink cartridge replacement procedure, you must complete all the steps in one session. Make sure the EPSON Stylus CX5400 is turned on and not printing. The LCD screen tells you which ink cartridge is low or empty. If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is low on ink, press the left Menu button until you see Change Cartridge, then press the Color Copy button. If your EPSON Stylus CX5400 is out of ink, press the Color Copy button. The ink cartridges move to the replacement position. Lift up the scanner. Pinch the tabs on the front and back of the cartridge, lift it out of the printer, and dispose of it carefully. Before you remove the new cartridge from its package, shake it four or five times. Unwrap the new ink cartridge and lower it into its holder, then press down on the top of the cartridge until it clicks in place. Caution: Don t touch the green circuit board on the back of the cartridge; you may inhibit normal operation and printing. If you need to replace other ink cartridges, repeat steps 4 through 6 before continuing with step 7. Carefully lower the scanner and press it down until it clicks into place. The EPSON Stylus CX5400 begins charging the ink delivery system. The On light flashes and the EPSON Stylus CX5400 makes noise. Charging takes about 30 seconds. When it s finished, the On light stops flashing and stays on. Caution: Never turn off the EPSON Stylus CX5400 while the On light is flashing, unless the Stylus CX hasn t moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

learn to read instructions ok...

Follow the instructions that came w/printer. It s easy....pull out cartridge, get new one that is proper/fits the device, remove tape on contacts, insert. click in/snap in....and print alignment/test copy....then all set to go....when all else fails, follow the directions...believe me it is easy!!!!

every printer is different. see if you can find the manual. With the HP printers I have used, I open the door on the front. I let the machine rearrange the print heads so I can reach them. When it stops moving, I unlatch whatever is holding the cartridge in, and I slide out the cartridge. Make sure you recycle these. HP cartridges come with a prepaid envelope for doing it. Slide the replacement cartridge into the slot and close everything up in reverse of taking it out.

Toss it in the trash. It s an epson!

Why would you want to take out cantridges from MY printer ? ;-)

http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/…

Read your printer s manual!

u turn on the computer and then you flip open the front cover of the printer. then the carteritides should slid out to the middle of the printer. then u open the top part of the carteriges and then you pull it out

1. READ the users Manual. 2. Follow the Directions in the User Manual. 3. Remove and Replace old cartridges. Besides, there s no way of telling you how to do it because you didn t say what the make or model was....LOL

If it s an HP then you have to Lift the door to the cartridges and the cartridges will move to the entrance to that door. Then lift the little doors on top of each cartridge and grab the cartridge and pull it out. Do that for both bamp;w and color. Put the new ones back in the same way and close down the little doors so they click in place and then close the door to the cartridges so they will move back in the printer. The printer should then give you instructions on what to do and how to align. Hope that helps.

How do I know what wireless printer adapter I need? -

I have an HP Photosmart 2575 and I cannot for the life of me find out what adapter it needs. Anyone happen to know?

HP actually makes their own adapter you might want to use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000J3Z…

lolz, sorry but can you explain more detail please?

What is the best option to inexpensively bind together printer paper? -

i print papers out with my pc laser printer i want to bind them together in small booklets of no more than a couple hundred pages and at times less i want the binding to be fairly inexpensive and easy to implement what are my home binding options?

as stated above, wire/plastic combs are one option. but it depends how many you need to do. If it s only going to be one every so often, contact a local store like staples or kinkos to see if they offer a binding service to save buying the machine to do it yourself.

I use Ibico plastic comb bindings. While their heavy-duty machine is fairly expensive to purchase, it will last pretty much forever for home use. (There may be cheaper alternatives available.)

What can I do to fix my printer which has a paper jam? -

I have a HP photosmart 8050 and I was printing off some stuff, then the printer just stopped so I pulled out the piece of paper and it said it had a paper jam. I saw in the printer a bit of screwed up paper so i pulled it out with tweezers and now after tipping the printer upside down and sticking tweezers in it, it still apparently has a paper jam. i have restarted the printer many times and it still says the same thing. please help?

Sometimes you can use a thin but stiff piece of card to gently push through the paper path, if you do this carefully and slowly you can often catch any small pieces of media and then remove them. The only other alternative is a good light, a dentist mirror to peep into the small nooks and I often use a straightened paper clip with the end bent into a small hook, this can be useful to catch any small pieces you find. Most likley you have a piece of media trapped around the paper sensor, this is why your getting an error, the sensor is probably stuck. Another option is you pulled the media out backwards and caused the paper sensor to move out of its normal position so take a look a that in case it has moved and is stuck in the quot;downquot; position which would indicate media is travelling through the printer.

You re going to have to examine the paper path with a torch to find the offending bit of paper because it s in there for sure.

Just bought a lexmark x2500 printer why when i print letters it comes out real small? -

When I print something in letters or numbers it s real tiny can t hardly read it?

Hi Open your word processor and open the file you are trying to print. Under edit, choose select all text now, look at the font size and set it to 10 or 12 pts. That should do the trick. Save your document and print it. The print should be perfect. :-)

How much is one cartridge of ink expected to last? -

I have a lexmark color cartridge how many black and white sheets is it expected to last for

Typically 300 pages is a good estimate

well you don t use much color ink on a black and white page so practically and infinite ammount. of course by then the cartridge will dry out and the printer will be broken.

Are you a racist? Why does it matter how long the blacks live compared to coloured? I hope you are ashamed of yourself! :-( Racist scum!

That depends on how much you print documents.

What type of printer should I get? -

I am a student that just needs a printer for essays, reports, etc. I might rarely use color for graphs and charts, but otherwise everything else would be in black and white. I was thinking of getting a laser printer. My last printer cost me way more in ink cartridges than I like to think about. I want to avoid going through that again. Any suggestions as to what printer I should get would be very helpful.

If you want a color laserjet you are looking at $300-400. I know people say that a lasejet will save you money, but by performing my own research, I do not see the savings. Consider an Epson CX7400 (print, copy, scan) for $70 Individual ink cartridges are $18, black-$13, color. Page yield for these cartridges are black-245, color-335. Multiply the page yield X10 and you get 2,450-black and 3,350-color. So cartridge price $18-$13 X 10= $180 + $130= $310 for 2,450 blk and 3,350 color pages. Add the $310 ink cartridges + the CX7400 $70 =$380 Now lets move onto an average laserjet (color print only) $300 Individual toner cartidges avg. $61, black- $65, color. Page yields are black-1,500, color-1,400. Add the toner prices, $61-black, $65 X 3=$195-colors =$256 Add the $256 toner cartridges + the laserjet price $300= $556 So the inkjet price for higher page yield (2,450-black, 3,350-color vs. 1500-black, 1400 color) is $380, compared to the laserjets $556. You can do the numbers yourself, to verify information. I recommend the CX7400 for all students because it uses a pigment ink, so it is waterproof on plain paper (just like a laserjet). For your situation it will provide smear-proof highlighting and if your reports get wet, the text will not turn into a runny mess, as with dye inks. It uses 4 individual ink cartridges, so you are only replacing the color you are out of. It has memory card slots for photo printing plus you get copy and scan features. I have this printer and love it. I highly recommend it to everyone and if you do decide to go with an Epson printer, please contact me so I can pass on some money saving and important features.

Lasers have sharper text and are generally faster than inkjets. While toner cartridges are more expensive than ink, they print more pages, so the cost per page is lower. But you pay more up front. Inkjets are better for photos and cheaper for low volume. Personally, I use both. I have an inkjet for photos, a color laser for high volume color jobs and a black laser for regular text. I use the black laser most often. You can get a good color laser today for under $170 (Samsung CLP-315). Toner cartridges are more expensive then inkjet cartridges but they last for about 2,000 pages. It does a nice job on photos, but an inkjet is still better for this. Inkjet: As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn t compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson CX5000 and have had no down time since. All name brand ink is expensive, but you can get cheap new replacement cartridges for Epson (not refills which I never recommend) for under $5 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp I have been using these for years. The CX8400 scanner/copier/printer was on sale at circuitcity.com for $60 with free shipping. It uses 3 colors plus black. The NX400 which uses the same cartridges is on sale at Staples for $75. The RX595 scanner/copier/printer also prints on DVDs. It uses 5 colors plus black and has even higher photo quality. It s on sale for $80 after $55 instant rebate. http://www.cheapstingybargains.com/54342… If all you want to do is print text, then get a black laser printer which you can find for $50.

How to remove the old printer driver completely from XP and Vista? -

After deleting the old drivers it avtualy removes from the available printers list. The driver remains. Where from and how to remove it completely from the PC ?

Drivers have an Uninstall feature. Start/All Programs/(whatever your printer is)/Uninstall. It s the only sure way to get rid of the drivers and all the controls that go with it (Solution Centers, Printer Assistants, on and on)

go to control panel add/remove see whether ur printer name is there............ then go and click on remove button..... it will ask want to remove yes or no........ give yes......... it will automatically remove......... this is the correct procedure to remove............ if u want to check whether the device is uninstalled/removed properly......... right click on my computer----gt;properties ----gt;hardware-----gt;device manager and check...... any question yellow marks r yellow bulb.if it is not there...... no problem........ if any bulb/ques mark is there...that indicates u have not properly installed/removed.......................…

goto to setting then goto Add and Remove folder, see if it is listed or not. If it is listed remove it or goto printer folder in setting.

How do i hook my laptop up to my desktops printer wirelessly while it still being fine on desktop? -

What do i need etc?

All the function of a router.

Once you set up a network via wireless router or wired cables, go into the printer s properties using your desktop (Start - Printers and Faxes - Right Click the printer - properties). Then, find the tab that says quot;sharingquot; click it and check the box that says quot;Share this printer on the networkquot; or something along those lines. Then add a network name to it, it should be something simple like quot;Canon6.quot; Now, the printer is shared. Next, log onto the laptop and go into the printer dialog the same way as you did above. But when the box opens, click quot;Add Printerquot; then, follow the steps by clicking on quot;I want to add a network printerquot; and in the little white box, type quot;Canon6quot; or whatever you named it. You may need to enter it like this if it doesn t recognize it: quot;Host//Canon6quot; Host would be the name of the desktop such as quot;Jonesquot; or something. Hope this helped.

How good is the Xerox Phaser 3117 as a printer? Are there any complaints from users? -

How do I make my Epson Stylus CX7400 print transparencies? -

Everytime i try to print it the transparency just goes right throught the the printer status window just says quot;Reload paperquot;. But all the websites say that the Stylus CX7400 is compatible with transparencies.

1. Did you make sure you purchased transparencies for ink jet printers? 2. Did you change the paper type in the printing properties before sending it through? 3. These are the Paper types it supports: Supports plain paper, Epson Bright White Paper, Photo Paper Glossy, Premium Photo Paper Glossy, Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy, Premium Photo Paper Semi-gloss,Presentation Paper Matte, Premium Presentation Paper Matte and Matte Scrapbook Photo Paper (letter)

How long does the laser toners last when out of the wrapping? -

I don t use the printer much.

They can last a long time. I have some LaserJet toner cartridges that are over 3 years old and still work. Sometimes I take the cartridge out and gently tilt it up and down to move the toner around that might have gotten stuck.

it will work for the next year or so. i think the ink will quagulate after a few years

Depends on humidity. I have known toners to last 5 years or more unwrapped.

Can a printer with ethernet work with a wireless router? -

I would like to set up my printer to my main computer and it has ethernet, so that I could print from my laptop that is wireless. would this work?

No, because the two computers are not connect because there is nothing to receive your laptop signal unless you have a router. There are two ways to do this... First way....(wireless) 1. Get a router. 2. Have your main computer s ethernet cable connected to the router. 3. Have your laptop wirelessly connect to the router. 4. Go to quot;My Network Places.quot; 5. After run the quot;Set a Home or small Office Network and run through the setup on the computer and laptop. 6. After that have your main computer share your printer by right clicking on it and click on properties. 7. Click on the tab that says sharing and click on the option quot;share this printer.quot; 8. On your laptop go to quot;Control Panel.quot; 9. Click Add Printers and click on the option for network printer. 10. After the setup of that you are ready to go. Second Way.....(wire) 1. Have your main computer s ethernet cable connected to the laptop. 2. Go to quot;My Network Places.quot; 3. After run the quot;Set a Home or small Office Network and run through the setup on the computer and laptop. 4. After that, have your main computer share your printer by right clicking on it and click on properties. 5. Click on the tab that says sharing and click on the option quot;share this printer.quot; 6. On your laptop go to quot;Control Panel.quot; 7. Click Add Printers and click on the option for network printer. 8. After the setup of that you are ready to go.

If you have your laptop and desktop networked, yes. You would quot;sharequot; the printer on your desktop.
