Is there a way round using a printer if you dont have a 25pin parallel port on your laptop? -

Bit annoyed i missed this point out when i bought my Sony Vaio although i rarely print but since my ageing Acer had one i guessed, i assumed they would be standard. Guess not. Do any other ports double up this job? At least my old laptop is still working.

Parallel ports used to be standard, but they ve been superceeded by USB. It s been quite a while since I saw a printer for sale that connected to the parallel port. You can get USB to Parallel Adapters though.

unless the printer is very old it should have a usb port on it as well as a parallel , if not then its probably time to get a new one, printers are getting cheaper all the time and a new one will give much better results

You can always use an adapter such as this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… A little expensive, but a bit cheaper than a brand new printer. :)

No it s not cheaper to get a new printer tigerdirect.com has Parallel to USB converters for 12.99 plus whatever your shipping would be. So you can go to this link and look at it. GOOD LUCK!!!

you can get a 25 pin to USB adapter and just hook the printer up to a USB port.

You can get a USB to parallel converter, but you ll probably find it s cheaper to buy a new printer.
