What are the goods and bads about the HP photosmart 2570 printer? -

There are a few reports about paper feed problems in various forums. Are they just isolate cases or it is a serious problem? One says the paper feed problem can be overcome by cleaning the paper sensor. Any comments?

I think the paper feed sensor just does the alignment, ie. checking where the paper ends so that it knows where to start the margins. Most printers (not just the Photosmart 2570) have some paper feed problems after some time because of the dust and paper fibre accumulated on the rollers. My PhotoSmart 2575 does fine - there is a funny roller sound when it kicks the paper out but I may just have a funky unit and it doesnt affect the print quality or other operations, including paper feed. My friend s same printer seem fine. I like the print quality though, especially when I print on the photo papers. I think it s better than some of the newer models on the market, but then again, photo quality is always subjective. To clean the rollers, here re some steps on hp s website for some other photosmarts... 1) Turn off the all-in-one and unplug the power cord. 2) Remove the rear access door 3) Clean each roller using a clean lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water (distilled water preferred). 4) Rotate the rollers to clean the entire surface. 5) Verify that the paper feed rollers on the rear access door are clean and rotate easily. 6) Re-seat the rear access door. 7) Plug in the power cord and turn on the all-in-one.
