Is it true that refilling ink cartridges will damage a printer? -

I fear using my printer now since i heard that using refilled cartridge can cause damage to printer . Does it mean my printer will be junk soon as well as my ink refill? Tnx.

Some say, quot;Yes, it could ruin your printer.quot; Others say, quot; No, it won t.quot; Some say, quot;Yes, it ruined MY printer.quot; Others say, quot; No, mine is working fine.quot; I say: Consider how much it would cost to replace your printer. How much is your printer worth? How much does a new cartridge cost? How much would you save by refilling your cartridge yourself? If your printer broke, would the savings have been worth it? But do be careful... Epson printers use dye-based ink. Newer HP printers use quot;pigmentquot; based ink. Older printers use water-based ink. Some inks are more viscous (thicker) than other. There is a reason for the differences as some thicker inks will not work as well in some printheads. So...would your savings be worth the risk? hmm....

Bah ! I have filled so many of those. If so I would have had busted junk a long time ago.

People have expressed a legitimate concern as to whether the use of compatible cartridges in their printer will void their printer s warranty. The answer is NO! What follows is a partial quote from the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, which protects your rights and your warranty. MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT United States Code Annotated Title 15 Commerce and Trade Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties 15 Section 2032 ... (c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied warranty of such product on the consumer s using, in connection with such product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade or corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection be waived by the commission if: 1) The warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in connection with the warranted product, and 2) the Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest. More simply put, this means that your printer warranty cannot be voided just because you choose to use compatible products unless the manufacturer can prove that the compatible product caused direct damage to your printer. In cases such as this, the manufacturer may choose not to repair your printer but your warranty would remain in effect for all other warranty issues.

Refilling will plug up your printer s internal printhead. It depends on the inks used. If you have an internal printhead, it s a chance you take, and if you have cartridges with the heads on them like HP products. You will only plug up the cartridges. You can refill these all you want, you will just throw it out anyway if it plugs up. After market inks cost less for a reason, they don t have the quality, accuracy of color, or additives that keeps your printheads from plugging up. That s why they even suggest using their paper and ink catridges to get quality pictures and prints. That is if you want quality picutes and keep your printhead clean. This could get costly. If you have an internal printhead like a Canon. You can still mix it up to save money, I use refills for regular text and docutments, then I use the manufacture s to print photos and if there s any build up on the print head it will keep it clean.

Bah! The printer manufacturers would like you to believe just that! That is how they make their big $... I have always bought refills for mine (for more than 4 years) and they work great...and save me about 30 to 35 dollars a cartridge! Check this place out!

Most of the time the worst thing that will happen when you refill a cartridge is the quality will suck, or at the very worst it will ruin the cartridge (not the printer) Relax and use you printer. If you don t the cartridge is going to dry up. If you are getting refills, make sure they are from a reputable place and they provide you with instructions on how to clean your printer, as well as how to install and reset ink levels if necessary. Just relax, it is okay. Many people use refill, there are businesses based upon refilling. If they ruined printers, they would no longer exist.

no it wont damage ur printer but ur cartridge only.. enjoy ur refill

No. Refills work just fine. A little messy every now and then, but other then that all works well.

Haha that s so silly, why would it damage your printer?

Simple answer - sometimes. Easy answer, don t refill them - get remanufactured cartridges from www.worldclassink.com or some other online ink vendor. They professionally refill inkjet cartridges, and companies that do it all the time generally don t use crappy cheap ink, which most refill kits do. I ve refilled ink cartridges before, and only once did it cause a problem. When a cartridge is run dry, it can get damaged. Such was the case with mine. I refilled it, but when it primed the cart. it broke something, because the inkjet head had quot;fusedquot; from overheating leaving the ink nowhere to go. Hope that helps. Jason http://www.onestoptechnologyshop.com techsupport@onestoptechnologyshop.com 15 years in computer service and sales.

No it wont. the company tells that it does as their business is coming down due to the refilling. My Printer is 5 years old and I have refilled the cartridge more than 4 times. No damage has ever hapenned. Don t worry

Refilled cartridges have been known to leak, so YES! they will then ruin you printer .

Not necessarily, but it s possible. It depends on many variables. As the technology improves, many manufacturers are putting in safeguards to prevent you from refilling the cartridges. HP s newers printers, for example, log information in the system about how much ink you have left in the cartridge. When it gets down to a critical level, the printer will no longer allow you to print. This is to protect the (non-replaceable) printheads. It also keeps you from being able to refill the tanks, because when the refill companies refill the cartridges/ink tanks, they are only putting ink in it. They have no way to reset the computer chip on the cartridge that is logging how many times the nozzles have been fired. (This is what gives you the estimated ink level - the nozzle firing count from that chip). The cartridge will still read as empty when you put it back in the printer, and the printer (those newer models) will not print. Although refilling the cartridge will damage the printheads, that is probably not a major concern with cartridges that have them built in, since you are replacing the printhead any time you buy a new cartridge. The printheads are designed to work with the ink the manufacturer puts in the cartridge, not a 3rd party or generic ink. If the manufacturer sells their own ink for refill, that should be fine. If your printer has built-in printheads, though, you shouldn t take the risk of refills. Costs of sending the printer for repair to have the printheads replaced will be out of your own pocket, and the cost of that is often more than the cost of buying a new printer. You should also consider what you use the printer for. If it s for home use, i.e. printing receipes and emails from friends, quality is not a big concern. If you use the printer for anything where you need good quality, i.e. resumes, business letters, photos etc, stick with the originals. No matter what claims the refill companies make, the quality will never be as good as buying the real thing. Refills usually run out faster than originals, as well.

refills wrecked my printer but i didnt have a pro fill them a friend filled them so maybe he did something wroong or maybe all refills do this who knows but i always buy new now

What are some good quality printers I can use for my Laptop? -

I have an Acer 3000 laptop and I need a good printer I can hook up and print papers for school and stuff but that I can easily disconnect when I don t need it. I would like to pay as little as possible but still have a good one. What is best?

Hi. My suggestion is go for a Canon printer that has the individual ink tanks, as i use to work for cartridge world, and they are the cheapest cartridges to refill or buy new, also with individual ink tanks you only replace what you use, if you go for some thing with a tri colour cartidge you will find that you will run out of ink heaps quicker and be forever refilling or buying new ones. Also the quality of Canon is one of the best for printing documents and photos, and most canon printers have LCD displays to view pictures and documents before you print, you can hook up digital cameras to them or even add your memory sticks ,XD cards, etc and print straight from them. You make pay a little more for the printer or all in one unit to start with, but in the long term it will save you money on cartridges. WHATEVER YOU DO DON T BUT A LEXMARK THEY ARE ONE OF THE WORST PRINTERS ON THE MARKET. You will find the Lexmark units very cheap to buy, but they get you with the cost of the cartridges. Hope this helps.

Try looking at Canon BJC-80. It is the smallest printer I ve seen so far and you can connect with it via printer cable or infrared. It is so compact that I can carry it anywhere.

I have a small portable cannon that is used with my PDA. It operates through an infrared signal transmitted from the PDA to the printer. This is my first experience with them since this is a printer provided to me by my employer, but it is compact (Fits easily in a computer bag or case.), light weight and very easy to use.

How to change from landscape to portrait amp; have it stay there? -

Hi. I have a Canon Pixma iP3000. Changing from portrait to landscape is easy. The problem is I cannot get back to portrait AND, quot;have it stay therequot;. Each time I return to print, it has set itself back to landscape amp; no matter what I do, it just keeps returning to landscape. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to stay on portrait, but without success. It should be simple. BUT. amp; yes I do press OK after setting the page to portrait.

The Answer is very simple. When you change the settings from a document the settings would be saved only for that document. So what you need to do is go to Start gt; Control Panel gt; Printers and change the settings. Now this would apply to the printer irrespective of the document. If you still need help you can get back to me. :)

Landscape Paintin from Photo: http://www.photoartomation.com/ArtWork/Landscapes.htm I ordered a large poster print. That was awesome! Report Abuse

Go to page setup of any file then go to prefrence and select the landscape there.once ur page set save ur document and close the file. when next time u open the file. it will open in landscape mode.

Hello Dear In page button the window you change page manner there is a button key Default press it to save your settings . Good luck

Its very simple: Open Control Panel:-gt; Printers amp; Faxes --gt; right click on the printer u are dealing with--gt; select printing preferences --gt; Set what you want....it will stay.

How do you scan a pic using Dell Computer? -

I have done it once a long time ago and now I forgot. Please, if anyone can help, please do!

scanner is what you have to use... you open the scanner top place in pic hit scan you got it

Use the ... scaner ?

Your scanner needs to be connected to your dell, and after you scan the picture your scanner software will have the options to scan the picture to wherever you want it to go. To a Photo Program, or to your Desktop. Depending on your Scanner Software many will scan the photo and will convert the Photo to different Formats most use .jpg which of course is the most widely recognised and used for everyday use. Click on Preferences in the scanner program and choose and change the options.

How do I make a Lexmark printer take a refill cartridge? -

The printer takes two cartridges, one photo and one normal. It is the normal cartridge that is the refill. The refill cartridge is currently in the printer but whenever I try to print anything it always tries to use the photo cartidge which is empty. I cannot make it use the normal refill cartdidge. I can t find any settings to allow me to swap between the two cartridges.

Most likely, you can t. Refill cartridges are a touchy subject. A lot of computers won t accept them. For some reason, they think the cartridge is still empty.

Try this site, they have a lot of info regarding refilling and resting cartridges. On the HP 7760 you have to selotape over 2 contacts to fool the printer. I got the info from here, you may find away to solve your problem. http://www.alotofthings.com/viartshop/

Speak softly to it then turn it over and rub its belly in a clockwise motion. Whisper sweet nothings in its ear. THEN GET IT IN A HEADLOCK AND SAY YOU TAKE THIS SHamp;% RIGHT NOW OR I WILL BEAT YOU. it should take it then. Its the whole shock value thing.

be real nice to it and some times it takes a little KY

Some ink jet cartages have a little chip on the side that needs resetting to tel the printer that a new full cartage has been fitted. This is to make refilling your own cartages harder. If so you can buy a device that reset the cartage, cost £5-£10. Personalty I got fed up with the rip off prices of ink cartages and got a cheap Laser printer about a year ago. Black amp; white Laser under £40 including Toner cartage. color Laser printer are now under £100. (on-line prices, in shops they are still very expensive). www.ebuyer.com The toner is very economical ( over a year of use and still on my original cartridge) and refilling is ever so easy. Just pour out any dead toner powder and pour in new. Prints are faster and better quality.

Can I scan and copy documents with out having printer hp officejet 7310 hook up to my computer? -

I am having problems with the USB connections. Just wanted to know If I can copy documents with out the using PC usb port. I am having a hardtime making copy beacuse it is not hooked to the pC. There is something wrong with the printer USB port.

you should be able to copy without the pc

So, you are having issues with USB ports? (There is no specific printer USB port.) Do you have the capability to connect with a serial cable? Or, the other option is Wi Fi - if you are set up for it and if your printer is capable. ADD: And like the people above said, you can copy but cannot scan when you are not connected. =)

Copy? Maybe, depends on how smart the printer itself is. Some are so dumb they don t work without the computer. Some may be smart enough to copy by itself.

yes you can, just fire the printer up, choose copy, and then scan the page

copy=yes scan=no

no you cannot no hardware like that can be used without usb ports

How can I get my printer to work? -

I installed the printer driver from the internet, because my computer doesn t have the CD drive. Everything apparently checked out okay, but then I went to print and nothing is coming out. Checked the control panel, and the status is that it s printing. I restarted my computer and even turned off the printer and everything.

Go to Add/remove programs and remove everything pertaining to you re printer. If it is a HP printer finish removing cleaning out any left over printer software by doing a HP level 4 stripper No reinstall the drivers again

Hi Check if your printer is set as a default printer and check if everything is connect right like the usb.Refer to your Maunal i mean your instructions that came with the printer. If it still don t work than call your printer for support

Find a baseball bad and smash it over and over until it starts doing stuff

reinstall the drivers

Did you jiggle the cable?

Is there any way to install a printer without the software disk? -

Trying to install a printer and don t have the disk that came with it. Is there any way to install it without the disk?

Yes, all you have to do is visit the manufacturer s support web site and enter the exact model of your printer to download the latest driver. Depending upon the manufacturer, the free additional software that came with the driver disk might also be available for free download. As a matter of fact, I recommend that you always download the latest driver rather than use the disk, that is, if you even had the disk.

sure. Go to the website of the printer maker and download the driver and install it. If you tell what printer model it is and what operating system you have, i can help you find it.

Does anybody know of a new printer that will work with windows 7? -

My hp deskjet D1470 does not work with window 7. I have tried to un-install and download the driver software but it will not install. So does anybody know of a new printer that will work with windows 7?

It should work with Vistas drivers, though you likely need to install the drivers before installing the printer. Otherwise any new printer that would work with Vista should work, but you may run into the same issue. Also keep in mind that Windows 7 remains in testing phases so it may simply be something that s not compatible until a later stage, and going out to get a new printer that may or may not be compatible with beta/testing software could be a bit foolish. Also, if you re using the Windows 7 Beta, I d try upgrading to the Release Candidate step one.

How to connect a Printer to a laptop by wireless? -

I just got a HP Deskjet F2210 for christmas and I don t want to connect it to my laptop with a USB cord so how do I make it where its wireless?

buy a printer server, and hook it up to your laptop and ta-daa!

The printer would need it s own wireless network card to do this and I don t think that model has one.

How do you reset the ink cartridge chip on a Dell 962 all-in-one printer? -

Every time I fill in the black and color ink cartridges I get the same message that the ink is low. I can t even find a chip resetter for any Dell printer. Please don t tell me that I have to buy a new printer or new cartridges. I m fed up of refilling the ink cartridges countless number of times and still getting the message that the ink is low. Can anyone please help me?

Hmm, have a look at this article - the directions here should work: http://www.castleink.com/_dell-low-ink.h…

Any way to do an iron on transfer withour the transfer paper or kit? -

I want to print a picture to a plain white t- shirt without having to use transfer paper or without having to buy the kit. Anyway of doing this? thanks.

Reverse your picture (if direction matters) as it will come out te other way on the Tshirt It has to be an inkjet printer. Set it to the best resolution, even though this might takea long time to print - the idea is you need to get a lot of ink on the paper. Use the thinnest cheapest copy paper you can get, a recycled paper that s not very white is best. The printing will come out a little damp from the ink. Prepare the shirt by washing it, if it is new, to remove the sizing or stiffening they put in new ones. Iron it. Lay it flat with a few sheets of newspaper inside so the printing does not go through to the back. As soon as the printing is finished, wet the front of the shirt with a damp sponge. It should be damp, not dripping wet. Put the paper on it, ink side down. Smooth it down with the same sponge, making the paper wet. Cover it with 2 layers of plain paper and iron it, using a very low heat and pushing down hard, not backwards and forwards. You will not get a very clear crisp image this way. It is a better method for a quot;posterquot; looking image than for photos.

I have heard that a printout can be ironed onto a tshirt but I can t remember whether it s a laser printout or an inkjet printout. Don t forget that when you iron it on the image on the tshirt will be backward. Copy shops can make backward (flipped) copies for you.

How do I keep photos I printed from fading or running when wet? -

I print pictures on Epson printer. They fade after a while. Sometimes if they get wet later they may run or spot. Should I try different inks? Different paper? Any help?

use photo paper for your photo s, and put the pictures in a frame, that will help keep them from fading, and should keep them from water damage

You might try laminating them, as that s the only way to make sure that any photo, even a professionally printed photo, isn t susceptible to water damage. As for fading, best bet is to just keep it out of the sun.

different paper is a must use more solid and thicker paper and maybe upgrade to a lazerjet model if quallity is a serious issue PS dont use refils

What could be the problem that I am encountering with my canon MP520 Printer? -

On Boot Up it often happens that my PC will not quot;Talkquot; to my printer. The only way I can rectify the problem is to alter th manual restore point to a date that I knew it was working. Any ideas, please.

I would suggest uninstalling the printer and reininstalling the print driver and attaching the printer again. Perhaps get the driver from Canon s website http://software.canon-europe.com/product…

How do you get dell A940 printer to install on vista 64 bit? -

The printer isn t installing even though the usb cord is connected to the computer. Where is there a download for a driver for 64 bit vista. Any help would be appreciated.

big fella- Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Vista Outreach Team to help answer questions folks might have about using their copies of Vista. I see you had some questions about why your printer wasn’t working with the 64-bit version of Vista. It certainly sounds like you might be having some compatibility issues between your printer and copy of Vista, but there’s a really easy way to resolve the issues. A good first place to start will be Microsoft s new Windows Vista Compatibility Center, which you can find at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compati… That site lets you search for specific hardware and software to not only see if they are compatible with a particular version of Vista, but also provides links to updated software and drivers. If you can’t find what you are looking for at that site, Terry D has the right idea: you should check at the Dell website to see if they’ve released any recent updates or drivers that haven’t quite made it into the database yet. I hope this helps! Thanks, Cody Windows Vista Outreach Team

Here s a site that might be used to you. I was just having the same problem, and I found this site. http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/windowsvist…

Yes. Got it off the Dell website!

How much would it cost to print a book? -

I got a couple books downloaded on mmy computer but reading them is hard on my eyes and so i wanted to print them out.How much do youu think it would cost to print out a 200 page book each?

It would be cheaper to buy them - unless they are expensive specialist books! The cost of ink will depend on what model of printer you have as they are all different. I seem to remember reading somewhere the other day that a black and white sheet of text cost on average 5p to print. If you had 200 sheets that would be about £10 for ink and then there s the paper cost. A 500 pack costs about £3 so that would be about £1.50 for the paper. So, that would be about £11.50 which is not far off about the total cost of an average black ink cartridge ( in case you don t live where you use pounds).

If you went to an Office Depot or Office Max, they can print in black and white for about 6 cents/page or about $12 for a whole book.

So how would you give the accounting department a report on the number of print jobs each printer produces? -

The Accounting department in your company has five printers. Management has asked you to give them a report on the number of print jobs each printer produces so they can decide of all of the printers in use are necessary. How do you do this?

Hmmm. Try taking control of the paper supply. Number each pack serially as you hand them out. Knowing how many sheets in a pack, how many packs used, amp; which printer they went to should give you a good estimate of printer usage.

Can you use regular printer paper in a laser printer, or do you specifically have to use laser printer paper? -

I notice that some printer paper is called laser printer paper, and other kinds are just called printer paper. Do you have to use the kind that specifically says it s for laser printers, or can just regular printer paper be used? What s the difference?

You can either get the one that says laser paper or use a multi purpose one. The one I use for my ink jet printers specifies for inkjet and laser. I would therefor assume that you can use the one simply called printer paper. I have no idea what the difference is but probably not much.

How do you refill printer ink cartridge? -

I m trying to find an ink refill package. Does anyone know where I can get it?

1) remove ink cartridge from printer 2) write the model # that s on the ink cartridge 3) go to your local quot;Staples, Office Maxquot; or order online 4) put it back into the printer and your done

officemax used to carry these, they should still be available on the web. they come w/ instructions. however, as most printer carts have the print head on it and they can wear out, many people have found that refilling is unfulfilling.

Don t do it! Though it often works, the one time it fails it can destroy your printer. Read http://ccs-digital.com/refills.asp for details. If you want to save money buy brand new (not remanufactured) compatible cartridges.

Better off just getting a new ink packet from a store, it s less complicated, just pop it in...

You can get them anywhere, Staples, Best Buy...

I wouldnt do that if i was you gt;gt;Never worked for me crap printer

staples
