How do I get a certifcate in repairing Printers? -

Is there a book I can buy and take a vender exam? I already have my A+ cert.

Check your area for the companies that provide printer/copier service -- these will also be companies that partner with the Printer Manufacturers such as HP, Lexmark, Okidata, Panasonic, Brother etc... They can let you know their requirements for hire as a service technician... they may train, or may require you to have training before hand and can give you specific contact information. In my company, the techs train thru us -- we send them to HP etc.. for training, or the manufactuer actually comes to us to train/certify our techs. Training is done on a constant basis thru out the year -- whenever new machines are released. You ll need to be certified on EVERY MACHINE THEY COME OUT WITH... meaning if it s an HP LaserJet M4345x MFP -- you ll need to be trained and certified on that specific machine -- and since Manufacturers come out with new hardware at least twice yearly, it keeps our techs busy :) Tho there are some certifications that they do online - but they have access as being our employee s. It sounds daunting I m sure with all the different types of machines out there -- but we also have techs who say, specialize in wide format only -- so they ll get sent out to our wide-format clients...others specialize with MFP s etc.. this way you dont have to know it all .... Just get with some local companies and they ll get you going in the right direction! Best of luck to you -- I know our techs LOVE what they do, enjoy the customer contact, and frequently have interesting stories (such as how DID that mouse get in there???)

Contact printer manufacturers such as Hewlett Packard and ask them.
