How to override Epson Stylus R310 ink cartridge safely? -

How to keep printing when an Epson Stylos R310 says quot;Replace ink cartridgequot; while the printing quality is still perfect? I suspect they tend to push to buy news ones, but without the printer overheating I surely can print more. Or sometimes just need to print in black but the magenta is off it blocks... Very frustating!

When you are just printing black you are still using every colorr. In order to achieve high quality photo prints the black cartridgee is not a true black, it is more of a dark grey. Your printerr will use every cartridge to underlay color sr to darken and sharpen that black. And no there is not way to print with an empty cartridge. This is for a series of reason. One is that your printer is using all of it s colors. Printing with one absent will effect the quality. The second i that epson cartridge have a tank and valve system that in order to be function need to have enough ink to cycle through the cartridge, this equates to about 20% of their original ink, so although there is ink left, it is not usable ink. The third and most important point is that the print head, the part which actually forms the print is in your printer. the print head has a small vibrating crystal which moves to force ink out the nozzles (piezoelectric) the ink acts as a cushion preventing this crystal form vibrating against a metal print head. If the crystal does vibrate against a print head uncushioned it is very likely it will become damages and your printer will be rendered about as functional as a door stop. So no, you cannot safely override this warning.

Most printer would keep printing with low ink, even if there is no ink left and no image could be printed. I m not sure with your particular model, but maybe, just maybe, if you only want to print in black and your color cartridge is off, you could chose to print in greyscale and it may ignore the status of the color cartridge.

It will keep going with low ink. Printers produce that warning well too early in the life of the cartridge.

Do all empty ink cartridges have to be replaced to make printer print? -

I relaced the black ink cartridge however the other three colors are empty and the printer will not print--do I have to replace all cartridges for the printer to work?

Some printer manufacturers are *****. They add chips to their cartridges to monitor ink levels and, once the chips register as empty, they will not function again, even if you refill them. Some of them even report to the printer driver that they re empty and will not allow you to print without replacing them, regardless of whether they re needed. It s part of the whole printer ink price gouging process. Now, I can t tell if your printer is like that without knowing what it is. But a good trick with some printers is to take the empty print cartridges out for a couple of minutes and then re-insert them. Your printer driver should detect that this has happened (provided you remove them in the way that they re supposed to be) and ask you if you ve inserted new cartridges. Tell it that you have. If it asks about the levels of ink in them, give the most positive response - eg if it asks quot;Have you printed with these cartridges before?quot;, say yes. Also, within your printer driver settings, there ought to be an option to force it to print in black and white - select this option. Sometimes, when printing even plain black text, it will attempt to print some colours into the mix to give a better looking black. My printer uses a black cartridge and a colour one. The colour one has three colours in it, but if one runs out, it will say it s empty and expect me to throw away a cartridge with two colours still partially full, just because it thinks one is empty. Printer manufacturers are bad people. They lose money on most printers that they sell, because they re going to try to rip you off on the ink. Anyway, give the above steps a try. If they don t work for you, then I d suggest posting a new question including the details of what your printer is. If you only make an ammendment to this question to add detail, most people will not see it.

yeah

no.one can be completely empty,as long as the other has some.I have a printer with only color ink,so it can t print black, but it still works. Hope this helped :)

not necessarily, you needa change your preferences when you print. Instead of colour change your print settings to monochrome or grayscale.

You ll need to set your print options to quot;gray scalequot; (or something like that). To fool the printer software, remove and replace the color ones.

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice versa. If you printed with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That s why most printers won t allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren t using it. If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty. Leaving your printer on takes very little power. Every so often the printer sends a signal to cycle the ink in the heads so it doesn t clog. If you turn your printer off, the next time you turn it on it will do a cleaning which wastes a lot of ink. The excess ink is soaked up by the waste pad beneath the printer. When the waste pad is full, the printer stops working. Unless you want to spend more than the cost of the printer or waste a lot of time on a messy cleanup you will end up throwing the printer out. So shutting it off actually shortens its life. If you leave the printer off for extended periods of time, the ink in the heads will clog and you will have to throw the printer away. Someone I know with a Canon (though this can happen with any inkjet) had to have the heads replaced twice within the first few months before the Canon tech told her to stop turning it off. Since then it has worked perfectly for over a year.

If it s like my printer, any cartridge that is empty has to be replaced to be able to print. Partially full cartridges are ok.

you could change the preferences to just black then you be ok but if you want colour you have to replace

Usually, yes.

How to send fax via computer? -

I want to get rid of my fax machine as it was very expensive and rubbish! I have Windows XP and have the function send fax via my PC but I get an error message saying line busy , do I need to have 2 phone lines? Or have I got something set up wrong? (I have Sky, the PC and my fax machine all plugged into the one socket with a double adapter) What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I suggest you use online faxing solutions http://faxfromyourpc.blogspot.com/ They are a GREEN choice because you don t waste paper and not to mention the headaches of paper jams, ink and paper expenses you have to bear with fax machines. With online faxing you DON T need a fax machine, or complicated installation. If you have a computer with internet access then you are ready to fax and you can fax to any fax number in the world. Plus, you can filter out all that SPAM and only get the faxes you need. Plus you will also get a FREE local or toll free fax number. Also, did you know that a fax machine is the most energy consuming office machine? However, with online faxing you can send AND receive faxes 24/7 without increasing your electricity bill. Plus these services will give you a free local or toll free number among other features offered. You should take advantage of their 30 day free trial where you can test drive their service and then see if it is what you need. I made the switch over the online faxing last year and I ve save thousands on electricity bills, paper and ink expenses. It is so much easier, if you know how to send an email then you know how to fax online. http://faxfromyourpc.blogspot.com/

Are you connected to the internet via cable modem, or through a regular phone line? You ll need a fax modem hooked up through the regular phone line if you want to send faxes directly from your computer with WinXP. Most people use an online fax service these days. They re super cheap and you can send/receive faxes with the click of a mouse. You ll even get your own professional toll free fax number. There are many services, and I d recommend you do your research. Check out the online fax reviews (http://computerfaxing.org/internet-fax-reviews ) for more information about online fax services. Or you can find more information about computer faxing in general at http://computerfaxing.org . Good luck!

quot;line busyquot; usually mean the receiver s line is busy. Alternatively, you can try sending fax online for free at http://www.GotFreeFax.com

Can anyone tell which is the best and most economical printer ? -

The last three that I bought had trouble with the ink cartridges getting plugged up and making poor quality pictures.

Here is a good list of top printers: http://www.castleink.com/_Top10InkjetPri… I personally have the HP Officejet 6100 series and love it. It s an all in one printer so you get the fax, copier, and scanner with it. I m surprised at how little ink it seems to quot;eatquot; given how much printing I do. If you are just looking for a photo printer, I also have and would recommend the Epson Picturemate. The quality of the prints is outstanding.

Seems like you and printers don t get along. The way of it is printers are fairly cheap but the cartridges are expensive. If you re printing mostly pictures, you re going to use up your color cartridges rather quickly. If you re trying to refill cartridges, some brands are not designed to be refilled by a user

If you are not using your printer regularily your cartridges will plug up. The most economical printer is a kodak easy share all in one. The cartridge are very affordable, however the catch is you will want ot use it at least one per week, or run a print head cleaning once per week.

Is there a way to print a picture and turn it into stickers just from my printer? -

Do I need to buy a certain type of paper and it will turn into stickers? or buy a certain software?

Yes, the link below shows how to do it. You basically need special paper. http://www.ehow.com/how_2002805_make-sti…

I recommend Avery, if you have a local Office Depot, Staples, or Office Max check them out and when you look at the Avery package make sure it comes with the software. Most of them do, http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Product…

Try your local Staples, Office Max, Office Depot or other major retailer for printing supplies. You should be able to get what you need and get started right away. You may need to get a better quality ink that won t want to rub off. Have Fun!

Something like this would do it http://www.avery.com/avery/en_us/Product…

You have to buy the certain type of paper.

How do you start a scanner that has no on/off button? -

Any software come with the scanner?

Check the software. There should be instructions there.

go to start and then find your printer (ex: HP) then go to the imaging/scanning and then click scan when the window comes up good luck!

Why Doesnt my printer have an ethernet port on it? -

At my school, they have HPlaserjet 2300 printers, and thats the same one I have at home. And EVERY printer at my school has a blue ethernet cable hooked up to it, so why doesnt mine. I have the SAME EXACT printer they do.

I checked out the 2300 models they had, none came with a network interface, but they all seemed to have a parallel port. There is such a thing as a print server that plugs into the parallel port on the printer on one side and then into the network on the other (see quot;sourcequot; below for some examples). I didn t see any real quick, but they do make some that look like part of the printer when connected.

check the model often the ethernet jack ( network printers) have a quot;nquot; network designation after their model whereas the others do not you can set up the printer on computer number one as a quot;networkquot; printer If attached to a router an left on the computer will be a print server and you will have a networked printer You may want to return your computer to the store , tell thee you made a mistake and wish to upgrade if you are having trouble networking the printers a very useful program is network magic www.networkmagic.com

theirs is most likley a special school edition designed to be hooked up in a net work for shared printing via a lan connection

What is the cycle time for sales at Staples? -

I saw a Brother color laser printer advertised last week at Staples. It is normally priced at $499 and was on sale for $349. Unfortunately, while I was comparison shopping the sale ended and it is now listed at $500. How long will it typically take before it goes on sale again?

You can get a Samsung color laser for $80 at stapes. It s a very nice little printer and the toner for it is cheap - $70 for all 4 colors at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp I bought several of these for family members. They work nicely, even for photos (though not as good as an inkjet on photos). http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p…

Where is the sensor in my printer that keeps telling my ink is low? -

I have heard that you can put a piece of black tape over the sensor to trick the printer into thinking you refilled it. I m not quite sure where the sensor is or what it looks like, can someone help me. Thanks

Take a look at this blog on inkjet printing for help. http://inkjetcartridges.hazaa.tv/ http://inkjetinkcartridge.net/

You didn t tell us the brand. If the printer is a Canon or Epson, the cartridge has electronic connections on it that are used for sensing the level. These have nothing optical to cover with black tape. Did you refill it? The places that sell the refill kits will sell you a separate device that will reset the cartridges, but they only tell you about the $20 more after you own the kit. Are you tired of the messages as it runs out or do you have an empty one and you don t want to replace the color and it won t run if one is empty.

That sort of printer counts expelled ink and estimates remaining ink to a safe point (often rather conservative) as the ink is not let run dry, then declares the cartridge quot;emptyquot; for the purposed of not killing the printer by possibly running dry..

I think it s in the chip on your cartridge. If you cover that then it won t work at all. You can buy a kit and refill it yourself.

Good question, I m also interested in the answers, but I don t know how to help you.

your printer deserves breakfast in bed.

oops!... its not fool proof dear.. for some printers you can do... go and refill your catridge just paing 5-10$

How do I remove the printhead of my Canon I70 or any I series? -

tried lifting up the so called grey lever around the front enclosure of the ink holder (the square metal enclosure that holds the ink) but mine wont come up. It bent my nail file that I tried to pry it up with. Is this the right lever? I can t find a diagram any where. Some one please explain in detail where this so called lever is?

According to my manual, for a different Canon, there is an on-screen manual that you can get by double clicking the xxx. You click on start and then on All programmers . A menu will come up and go the Cannon manual for you model number, on mine its up towards the top on the menu. If one is on there perhaps this might tell you want you need to know.

Since this answer doesn t really answer the question, I ll do it instead. To release the print head, you actually have to push the print head over to the right a bit, then press down on the button-like piece of plastic *under* the thing that looks like a gray lever at the front of the print head. What is the BEST way to win a bid on EBay? -

If someone tries to outbid you on the last minute,...how do you beat them?

I use a sniping tool called Hammersnipe which is free from the internet. There are a variety of sniping tools like this. Basically Hammersnipe bids for you at the very last minute (you can decide at which time eg. last 20 seconds before the item ends). You go into Hammersnipe - open eBay through their software (you have downloaded from the net free) and tell Hammersnipe what is your highest bid. Hammersnipe then bids for you at the last moment. eg 30 seconds which does not allow anyone else to outbid you. If the bidding gets higher than your highest bid you receive an email letting you know you need to increase the bid. You are allowed 3 free snipes per week with Hammersnipe- anything more and you have to buy a subscription. You then buy the item in the usual way. It is sneaky but it works very well.

Set your maximum bid, that being the most you are willing to pay for the item, eBay will automatically bid for you at the preset increments up until that point.

do not show your highest limit - I use a timer that will show seconds - the last 10 minutes or so will show seconds also make sure are logged in - then refresh your screen at 30 seconds to go- go for you max bid then - and you will only pay what you have outbid the highest bidder - and they will not have time to reset and out bid you - has worked 2 of three times the item I really wanted was $12.50 - but had sold up to $25 so I waited until 30 secs - and then went for $25 the other player s high bid was $15 - and he tried to go $20 I got it for $20.50 as I heard him scream!!!!!!!!!!!

I have cable connection so I click enter for my max bid during the last 5 sec. I never bid war with anyone my max is my max and that is it.

How do I fix my printer, I want to print an e-mail out and its printing everything else but the main message? -

Is there a print option, I need to click on; to get my printer to print the main message of this e-mail? My printer prints Yahoo mail header, date, from, to, and the senders signature, but doesn t print the main message of the e-mail...

It might have been a good idea if you had mentioned what program you are using for your email or whether you are trying to print it from web mail and in that case which browser are you using? Generally, there should be a print preview. Check that out. You may also select the text and if your application has it, you can quot;print selectionquot;. Your printer is not at fault here. How you are doing it is probably to blame.

Some websites are designed with many different sections and may not be all seen by the printer. Some website has pages or sections blocked from printing.. try quot;Print what you wantquot; and see if you can get any parts that you want to print http://www.printwhatyoulike.com/

How can you print text messages from your phone? Hook up a printer? -

Do you have to send your texts to an E-mail address? Can you send an entire strand?

I do not know if you can do that. It might be possible with newer phones. But if it is a text message well it shouldn t be that long haha. So I would suggest typing them out on wordpad or notepad or any word document of your choice. It would be faster and guess what? YOU CAN PRINT IT! -Ravi

I think you have to forward each one to your email, and do it from there. Or if its easier, just type or write out what the messeges said. They are only texts, they can t be that long.

I Have no clue, i would just send the text to my email then print the Email, XD

I think you just forward it to your email then print it ou tfrom there

hook phone up to computer down loud and print

How to set up printer to the other computer? -

I have two computers, and right now my printer is set up to the first one. How do I set it up to the second one too.. so that I can share the printer between both computers?

assuming your computers are already hooked together via a router and in a workgroup together all you need to do is go to the computer that has the printer attached go to the printers file in control panel and flag it as shared

Yes, you can share the printer between computers with the help of a printer switch which your computer dealer should have. You must also load your printer driver to your other computer.
