How do I get my HPofficejet 4215v to print? -

I got the printer to work about 3 months ago but for some reason, the printer is stuck on Fax mode. Can someone please tell me how to get it back on printer mode?

It defaults to fax mode. Thus the printer will always say fax, however if you do just go to print the mode should automatically switch to print mode. You should not have to touch anything on the printer, the driver software should automatically switch it. If you have anymore problems IM me. The name is smedrik@yahoo.com (I don t check email so IM is preferred)

Click startgt;control panelgt;Printers and other hardwaregt;printers and faxes. Once that window opens, you will see a list of printers, probably 2 or 3 HP, probably the fax printer is set as default, so just rightclick the icon for the printer you want as default, and select quot;set as default printerquot;. You can also find a lot of information and drivers on this page for your printer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/produ…

How do I convert my printer from a USB printer to a wireless printer? -

I own a HP 3330 which I received from a relative. It has a few USB ports but I want to be able to print from anywhere in the house without connecting my laptop to a cable. What s the best solution?

Ok. You could get yourself a Bluetooth printer adapter but that is for small children or you can get one of these: Linksys WPSM54G Wireless-G PrintServer with Multifunction Printer Support. Worked for me and it is awesome and cool!! Take a look at it here: http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite…

Honestly.. You cant. HP 3330 is a basic model printer which do not support wireless.

you have to have an adapter and good luck for that because they are so senative to new hardward. got it!

I m pretty sure you can pick up a wireless usb thingy. Ha, don t know the right name, but if you go down to your local computer store, they sure will. It will have two pieces, one to plug into the printer, and one for the computer, but no wire.

Just cut the wire off, it will still work.

assuming you already have a wireless network set up in your home, you can most like get a network print quot;serverquot; for your printer... you d plug it into the printer and then into your router and you d be able to print anywhere you could access your Wi-Fi home network

My dvds that I printed directly on from my inkjet printer smudges and is not waterproof what can I do ? -

I have a Epson printer and not able to use aqua proof disc. Is there a spray or a better disc to use. I like the feature but want to make it look more professional.

You can only print on printable discs. All other discs are not suitable. These are two linkd to printable discs. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Verbatim-43309-C… http://www.diskdepot.co.uk/acatalog/maxe…

why not buy some of those adhesive cd/dvd labels? they re cheap and compatible with most major printers. you print onto the sticker then peel off and stick to the cd. much easier and cheaper.

print them again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! duh

How to print the best quality photos? -

I m studying Graphics amp; Design and I need better quality print outs. I can t afford a whole new printer (just moved out of home, ha ha) . So, how can you get good quality picture print outs without breaaking the bank ? I have a 840C HP printer, which is like ancient (2002 maybe) . Would changing the paper give the pictures more quality ? What paper should I change it to if that would help ? Thank yoou :)

The better the paper the better result usually. As you do not say what paper you are using then it is difficult for someone to say one that you could change it to. Edit you may get better results using photo paper. The trouble is there are so many to choose from. There are different weights and also different finishes like gloss, matt pro gross etc. I bought loverly photo paper from Wilkinson the other day and that is supperby. It s very glossy and super white. It was £4.88 for 20 sheets of A4 premium quality and 270gm weight or I think £3.88 for 50 sheets of 4x6. You then need to set the printer to correct photo paper IE glossy and set to best standard which is high - the make of paper was Fujifilm. I also bought photo paper from Poundland, its called Perfect shots, superior photo paper which was 18 sheets of 200gm weight of A4 for just a £1. This is ok but less bright white and needs to be set to other photo paper for best result I found, even though it says it glossy. I also bougth some 180gm Fujifilm paper from Wilinsons which is on offer at the moment of buy one get one free. Each pack has 40 sheets of A4 or 50 4x6. The A4 is £6.99 and the 4x6 is again about £3 odd. so 80 sheets for less than £7 and 100 sheets of 4x6 for less than £4. The 40 sheet one is a lesser quality than the 270 gm premiun quality one and not so bright white but I have gotten good enough results from it and certainly better that plain paper. I find it best to test out the settings like pro gloss and then just gloss and the other photo paper to get the best results and then once you find the right paper and settings to use with it you are sorted. http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/bin/venda?e…

How do you fix an offline printer? -

My HP Photosmart C3100 (not sure if the type of printer is important) won t turn on. When I try to print out a document from Word, it says the printer is offline. Does anyone know how I could fix this?

Go to Control Panel gt; Printers gt; Open the printer you are working with gt; File then unchecked quot;user printer offlinequot;. If the problem persist try turning your printer off and on because a simple reset on your printer can be the solution.

If the printer is off, then it will appear as offline to the computer. So you have to figure out how to get the printer to turn on. Make sure it is plugged in and such; and check the instructions for troubleshooting information.

first of all turn the printer on,next go into printers and see if the printer says ready or online if it doesnt then right click the printer then click on use printer online. now see if it prints if it doesnt you may have to uninstallamp;reinstall.

Why is paper hot when it comes out of a printer? -

I ve never felt my printer get warm from running before, but the paper is hot when it gets printed out. I m just wondering how that happens. Thanks.

Search for the laser printers at www.howstuffworks.com. The entire process is explained there, with pictures. A great site to use as resources to know how things actually work. You will be amazed!

The toner is a mix of plastics and carbon. Near the exit are two rollers one of which is heated, as the paper passes through the rollers it melts the plastic in the toner and the pressure pushes it into the paper fibers.

Laser printers use Corona wires to heat the paper in order to fuse the ink into the paper. That s why it is hot when it comes out.

the fuser thermally transferes the carbon to the paper - thus creating heat

if it is a lazer printer they use thermal transfer and a toner

Is it best to buy a new printer when the cartridges run out? -

With a cheap printer at just over £30 and new cartridges at just over £20, it seems a good deal to buy a new printer and benefit from new print heads and a full guarantee and maybe sell the old one on Ebay. What do you think?

I own an Epson printer that has 6 ink cartridges. I buy my replacement cartridges online, last time I paid $38 US for a set of 4 (24 in all). My printer cost me a lot more then that. You can find vendors on eBay and Yahoo stores for cheap, unless you own an HP, then it would be cheaper to replace your printer.

no because the cartridges you recieve free with your printer have less than half the ink in compared to the ones you buy! Call KPD Consumables they work on 30 days invoice terms next day delivery and they are very competative! call 01723 866052. Report Abuse

i can see where your coming from but why don t you take your empty cartridges to a shop called cartridge world and have them refilled at a fraction of the cost.

i have used compatable inks in my epson for 12 months and at less than £1.50 each and i have 6 in mine it is cheaper than original with the same quality

I have often thought the same thing coz my cartridges cost about £60 for black and colour x

Not really. If you purchase a new printer you are going to have to uninstall the old one software and install the new ones software. Also, most cheap printers are not very good and break quickly. I would suggest keeping the one you have if it works fine. There are also refill packs available at more stationary or computer stores. It has inks of all different colors and is easy to use.

i would cost less

Good point. The big manufacturers are locked in a fairly fierce battle to increase their global market share of the home / small office colour printing market. Printers are being sold at below cost in the knowledge that it is ink sales that generate the real margins. Take advantage while you can, I predict one of the big players will succumb to a takeover in the next two years.

depends on how good your current printer is really wouldnt you say? if its naff then yeh go for it but if its a good one i wouldnt bother. i know where you are coming from though. it would perhaps be a pain to sell it on ebay what with all the hassle etc.

Not if you have an environmental conscience, no. Best to get new cartridges and recycle the old ones. And you would waste a lot of time and effort selling one on eBay.

no just get the cartridge

It s a bit expensive if your cartridges run out every couple of months. I buy exchange ones from Ink Xpress at £15 or so which have loads more ink in them than regular ones . They last me about 5 months.

good question......i recon if its a like for like yes but if it would be a down grade obviously no

You can usually find cheaper ink online if you try. The quality of that ink may not be as good depending on who makes it. www.swiftink.com gets good marks from a lot of people in the US, but there must be some in the UK. I wouldn t buy a new printer unless your old one is broken. It may only be a few pounds more, but it s still 10 pounds. Finally, many manufacturers put less ink in the cartridges that come with a new printer than they do in the refills, so you ll spend even more just buying new printers. Add in to that having to install new drivers and such and it s more of a hassle.

Most new printers come with a pretty limited supply of ink, in my experience a new cartridge lasts twice as long as the one supplied with the printer.

How do you fix it so that your printer only prints in black and white? -

Sometimes I don t feel like wasting the color ink. I am VERY new to the computer so PLEASE be VERY specific. Thank you so much for your help.

Well, when you open the document you want to print, go to File gt;gt; Print. In the window that will open you will see a button quot;propertiesquot;, click it, and then pick a quot;colorquot; tab. There you will see an option quot;print in grayscalequot; (you will have to check it). Click ok and voila!

When the print box comes onto your screen, choose printer properties. There you can tell it to print black/white, grayscale, or full color.

Copy and paste the documents you are printing into an email composition or Word and change the colors. Typically you go through more black ink than color, unless you re printing a lot of pictures.

I have my colour printer installed twice - one has COLOUR in the title and the other MONO, in the properties of the one labelled mono I have the grey scale (or Bamp;W) option ticked. Now when I print I simply select the printer marked COLOUR for pictures etc or the one labelled MONO for text documents. You can actually do this as many times as you like, so I have one labelleb 6 x 4 photo, and this setting is configured for photo quality 6 x 4, no messing and it works a treat.

iF YOU HAVE TWO DIFFERENT CARTRIDGES, JUST TAKE OUT THE COLOR ONE.

prefrences color --gt; print in gray scale --gt; only black cartirage.

Set the printer s properties to only print grayscale. Also, in the software you re printing from you can select grayscale in the advance print menu.

simply go to your printer setting and search for the check box where it is indicated black ink only or black and white, then press ok

Assuming you have Windows XP, take the following steps... 1. Click My Computer 2. Click Control Panel over on the left side 3. Click on Printers and Faxes 4. Right-Click the printer you are referring to and then click Printing Preferences 5. From here, it depends on your Printer. There may be an advanced button where you can select Black Ink Only.

if your printer printing in black and white maybe your printer just work in black and white but your printer is a color printer maybe your color cartridge has been ran out and you must buy another and replaced whit this and maybe properties of your printer changed to black and white print that you must try to find this attribute at the printer properties. good luck

only put black ink in it!!!!!!!!

When you go to print something and the printer screen pops up go to advanced settings and selst greyscale and it should print black and white.

How do u print from ur computer onto an index card? -

I have a canon new printer and windows vista. I tried it on microsoft word 2007 but i cant find the option. Printing in microsoft would be more useful. Help..

http://www.ehow.com/how_6099_change-pape…

You should be able to go to Properties when you go to print to specify the paper and size you are using.

You can t print directly to notecard, so i would print it on paper and cut that out and paste it to a notecard.

just set a custom print size to the size of your card...or there might be an option specifically for index cards

What is the difference between the HP OfficeJet and the HP PhotoSmart printers? -

I am not worried about dpi or specs. Is one better for Photos?

Officejets are catered mainly for office use. So they may come with features such as fax, scanners, network capability, duplexers, etc. Photosmarts are printers which have photo capability, which means they have photo-friendly features like memory card slots for you to print directly. Some photosmarts also have special photo-capable ink cartridges, such as gray ink for Bamp;W photos, etc. In general, the officejets also come with bigger capacity ink cartridges which cost more but is capable of a higher number of pages, which translates to lower cost per page.

Office Jet is better in the office and Photo Smart it excelent for fine photo printing.

If you are doing photos you should be concerned with the DPI. Better photos come from a higher DPI. A photosmart will have a higher DPI (thus better print quality)

Where can i find a good printer in the uk? -

Hey, Can anyone tell me a good Bluetooth printer available in the UK where the ink cartridges will last a while too? I currently have a lexmark x75 and the cartridges dont last!

Canon printers are good and you can also refill the ink yourself so that the ink cost are further reduced. I do not have a model number but try on Dixons website as you will know more about feature you require than I do. http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/editoria…

Check it out at argos
