There are compatables - I ve never purchased my printer cartridges by name - always generic.... be picky and make sure that the ink is certified for that printer. They usually will tell you. I get them off e-bay pretty cheap. Even use cleaning cartridges between just to get rid of residue.

Laser colour printers, which is the best one on the market? -

I work from home and thinking of buy a new laser printer. I am looking for something that will print a ream (500 sheets) of paper in one go, easy to replace cartridges, a good repair service and not to big.

You re asking a lot. Most small printers will struggle to do a full ream in a go, as their paper trays will not be big enough, especially the output tray. Also the smaller printers tend to be aimed at the home office / small office market with smaller runs and higher costs per page. You d be better in the long run sacrificing some space and going for something more sustantial, possibly even looking to a small colour copier, such as the Konica Minolta Bizhub C200. Also remember a colour laser has not only toners to change, but image drums (usually 4 of them), image belts and fusers. If you are going to print a lot you NEED to factor in the costs of these so a copier on a leased plan with pay per print COULD be a cheaper option.

Samsung has a color laser for about $100. The toner catridges will last for about 1500 pages, or five inkjet carts worth, after which you can dispose of the unit (well, replace the black cart, just not the three color ones). I don t know of any specific model numbers, but definitely look into how much the ink cartridges cost before buying. They will sell you the printer for cheap, then rip you off with the ink.

Connect the 2 PCs to a hub using the usb cable. From the hub, connect the outgoing cable to another usb cable that mates with it.(This is if the cable is not detachable) Make sure the end going into the printer is the square head type. It should work.

I wouldn t see why you couldn t. Although it would more than likely be REALLY expensive to print multiple copies of a multi-page document. Especially if your page count is high. If you have a larger budget, then I say go for it. Big magazines sell ads to make money. The longer paper is 11quot;x17quot;, so when you design the pages, you need to consider it will be printed on that, and leave space for the gutter (which in print terms, is the inside margin.) Also consider how you want to bind the document, because that will affect how you print your pages.

There really isn t a package, but they do have magazine like paper, its called Gloss Text, and it come in both 8.5x11 and 11x17. The 11x17 would probably be ideal for your project. If its not too important you could always use the laser paper that they use in there color machines, its a really nice paper, and the price is dramatically lower.

I have file and printer sharing on for both PCs and when I run the Add Printer wizard, it can find the printer and install it, but when I try to print, it cant communicate. I have also tried installing the drivers onto the 98 PC and then connecting to the network printer. Lexmark says it cant be done, but I had it working once, but I can t remember how.
