Is it possible to unclog a printer head yourself? -

Hello, I have a HP Deskjet 9800 and all of a sudden my black printer head is not printing. The cartridge is full. The color is printing fine. I ran clean and align and still no luck. Is there a way to unclog the black printer head myself? Or is it possible that it has dried up? If so, is there a way to un-dry it? Thank you so much for your help!

Black HP ink is pigment based and will not fully dissolve in water. Alcohol will evaporate quickly. Use a weak solution of ammonia, let the head soak in that for a few mins, then dab the head on tissue...repeat till you get a full pattern of dots.

If you take it to a printer shop where they refill cartridges this is what they will do. They will soak the print head only where the ink jets are in warm water for a few minutes. This will sometimes break up the clog. You can also use a bit of Alcohol on a lint free cloth to clean. Once you see ink start to flow, fold up a napkin till it s prety thick and press the jets down on it softly but firmly till the ink flows freely. Be sure to dry any excess water off and put it back in the printer. Good luck.
