Why does the computer keep turning off about half way through installing the hp photosmart printer? -

my son has a toshiba satellite laptop (just like mine).. i installed the hp photosmart printer on mine and he now he is trying to install it on his but... every time about half way through the installation, his laptop keeps turning itself off.... what could be the problem?
