How to connect a canon picture printer to a emachine computer? -

I have been trying for the pass week to install and I know is not so hard, but am having trouble with this printer I don t know if it goes with the computer or not. But am sure that it should be fine because my computer has microsoft xp and that printer has that. Is just that am having a hard time installing even with the CD rom that it comes with the printer. Any suggestions
