How to fix a frozen printer cartridge? -

I am trying to print out some important documents I need today. I am sick and working from home. I went to print and the printer worked but nothing was on the paper. I can only assume the cartridges are frozen since our home office has a lot of windows amp; is naturally colder than the rest of the house. Anyone know how to fix the cartridges?

Unless it s like zero degrees in the room, it s highly unlikely the cartridges are frozen. A lot of people dont realize that inkjet printers must be used often or at least turned on often. If left alone for a while, the ink clogs. My sister had to take her brand new Canon to the shop twice in the first few months because she only uses it once a week or less. They told her the best thing is to leave it on. It takes very little power and it keeps the ink circulating so it doesnt clog. Now about recovering from a clog: leave the printer on overnight. Then run a few cleanings. If that doesnt help, remove the cartridges, drop in some alcohol where the ink goes in, put the cartridges back, wait a half hour, then run some cleanings.

I don t think they are frozen unless your house is below freezing lol The ink cartridge has either dried up or the print heads are clogged or the ink has simply run out, Your printer software should have print head cleaning go to control panel /printer under hardware and sound(on vista)or printers in the classic view and go to the printer properties and see if you can find the print head cleaning tool. Try the print head cleaning a few times if you don t see printing the first time and if it does not work you will need to replace your ink cartridges especially if you haven t used the printer in awhile.

Well if you see it moving or hear it moving you must be out of ink. Theres no way a printer can get frozen its metal / plastic it would need a good amount of cold

How do you change the ink cartridge on the new DELL printer? -

i have the right ink and i changed it but the compute is telling me that the ink is still low.

The exact steps to replace an ink cartridge will depend on the model of printer you have. If you have a Users Manual, detailed guidance should be available in it to guide you through the process. Broadly, you should have to open 1 or 2 lids and then the ink cartridges should be available to just pull up and out of the printer. A New Cartridge will be installed by reversing the steps. Insuring the cartidge contact strip is Fully removed and check the contacts inside the printer Ink Cartidge slot to insure they are not dirty of have ink on them. A moist lint free cloth can be used to clean them. I Hope this Helps!

Is anyone having problems with HP products after one year warranty expires? -

My C6180 printer was working fine until a quot;paper mismatchquot; message started appearing. Tried everything in troubleshooting and finally had to call support and be charged to get it fixed. It feels like pre-arranged to force you to use and pay for their support.

The vast majority of their products fail after the one year warranty. Generally, 5-7 years after it, in fact. What kind of product would it be, if it usually failed within the first year? Hardware facts: If a product is going to fail prematurely, due to manufacturing defect, the chances are very high that it will be within the first 90 days. If a product lasts more than 90 days with no problems, it will most likely last for as long as it was designed to (5+ years). There are always exceptions, and unfortunately yours falls into that exception category. But, I can assure you, there is no conspiracy, and printers failing right after the warranty expires is quite rare. It just feels like a kick in the teeth, because if it had only failed a few months earlier, it would have been covered. :(

Where can I go to print some documents? -

I do not have a printer. The school library is closed this weekend. I have quite a few documents to print out before class on Monday and some of them will not be ready to print until Sunday afternoon or evening.

We have several places in my area. Do you have a Kinkos? Office Max? Office Depot? Re: a printer -- watch your weekly newspaper ads. Here, every weekend, our computer stores compete with each other and you can get a good weekend special. I picked up a Brother Laser for $59 and that included a starter cartridge. Another time I bought an HP all-in-one for $59. They print very well. The stores have a limited number for sale so you have to be there early.

Kinkos or office max or something along the lines of that would most likely work or you could save it to any memory stick/card and go to a friend s house or the library and print them there. Also a printer is pretty vital if you re in school so i would look in some news ad or Sunday papers for some cheap printers..i would go with HP along the lines of 50-70$. ~~cheers, Ash~~

See if there is a Kinkos near you; they can print it for you.

you can go to a printer

How do I password protect my printer so that my kids do not use all the ink and paper? -

Would like it so that the computer asks me for a password before printing but the computer can be used without a password

Here s a program for that. $12.95 per computer. Up to you whether or not it is worth it to you. http://www.printerpassword.com/ Looks like others had the same question. You can check their answers here. http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win…

You could keep the cartridges and just pop them in when you are printing. .

How can I make it so all my computers can print off 1 printer? -

I do have wireless connection with 2 pcs and 2 laptops.

Either a dedicated print server (under $100) or by sharing the printer off of one computer. If you use this method, make sure all computers are in the same workgroup. Install the printer on one of the machines and enable printer sharing. Add a new printer to the other machines, and browse the network for the printer that s shared.

Set your printer to share on the computer it s hooked to. quot;Add Printerquot; to laptop, etc (Windows will find it!) §§

you know the cd that came with your printer well on each computor you want to print from you need to install that program from the disk onto your computor. after that make sure you have the one printer wired to all your computors unless its wireless. and that should do it if not. call geek squad lol.

Your printer should be able to be connected to the network; just buy a print server ( either wireless or wired ). For wireless, you ll have to buy both the transmitter amp; receiver. The transmitter simply plugs into any open ethernet port on the router. The other device, the receiver, plugs into the USB or Parallel port of your printer. For wired, you ll have only one box that plugs into the router on one end, and into the printer on the other. They are available for around $30-$50 at most places like Frys, BestBuy, Circuit City, etc.

http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?a…

I believe that you would need a printer that was network-enabled . Connect the printer to the same network as all of your machines and you should be good-to-go

Is it possible for my printer to print when it is on low ink? -

is it possible for my printer to print when it is on low ink? my printer keeps saying that it is on low ink. but i suppose that means there is some ink left and what confuses me is that my printer says it can t be used. i don t understand. please help. my sister wants me to print something important for her RIGHT NOW because she has to hand it up soon!

Hi Amanda If you got that message a while back, don t be surprise if the ink runs dry. If you just got the message recently, you can still print a good number of pages before it actually fails to print. I gather that you can print at least 100 pages when you just received the warning.

It should print unless the print heads are clogged. Then you might be in trouble.

Considering that it is LOW on ink and not OUT OF ink, yeah, I d say it would print.

How can I get IP address of a printer which i connect directly to a network hub? -

I want to get and set a Ip address for a printer that directly connect to the network hub or router.

network printer usually come with software that detects them on the net even without knowing the ip. if that s not the case, scan your network and find a esponsive ip wich you have not asigned. you can use freeware superscan3 for that.

Assuming that it is a true network printer, you could get it from the printer. Check the user guide and see what button sequence you need to press for the printer to spit out its configuration. Pull up the configuration for the DHCP server. That should contain a list of the IP addresses assigned to each host name. If it a print server set up with a static I.P. then you have a problem. If it is working you might be able to work out the IP address form the printer port details.

How can i connect 3 computers to one printer? -

i am trying to hook up 3 computers, which are side by side in a small room, to one printer. There is a modem with a 4port switch i believe to hook up the other computers, which all have internet access. The printer only has a USB connection. anything i can do to make it work? any help is appreciated i will give 10 points for the best answer. Thanks

If the printer can act as a print server (support IP address, you can check in the manual) you can connect all computers and printer together with the switch and the computers will connect to printer through network printer. Otherwise connect the printer to 1 computer (act as a print server) and the others will connect to this computer to go the printer

If you can network the machines together, put the printer on one of them. Then when you activate the network, there is a wizard that sets it up for you. One of the questions is whether you want to share resources such as files and printers. Say quot;YESquot; to that question. Use the same wizard to set up all three computers. Now, when all three are up, you should be able to browse Network Neighborhood to find the other computers and the printer that is physically on one of those computers.

You need to purchase a USB switch. It s a physical device that connects to multiple PCs and, using the switch, you can select which computer quot;seesquot; it. Note that only one computer can see the printer at one time. But it works quite well and it s affordable. Good luck!

Attach the printer to one PC and the share the printer so that the other PCs can use it.

I think this might help http://www.monoprice.com/products/produc…

Print server! http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-Print-Serve…

You are going to need a splitter for the printer to pick up the computers as being there. USB splitter.

Set it up on one computer then share it using file and printer sharing

i dont think you can, but you can always save stuff into a flashdrive...

Click on add computer on each machine and bingo - you re all set.

Ask a school teacher :D lol

Can I print pictures on photo paper with a regular printer? -

I want to print some pictures onto photo paper to add to my album, but I have a regular printer...do you need a photo printer or can i just use my regular printer?

It will will print just fine. Photo paper will use more ink and you may not get the detail/shades of the entire picture.

Of course it will print. The quality will depend on how good the printer is. Be sure to change your settings to let the printer know it s working with photo paper, and any picture has to be at least 300 dpi at print size to print well. Just try it.

Canon Pixma ip1300 cartridges not recognised when new or replacement installed? -

I have installed recycled colour cartridges in this printer before with no problem but now, installing with a new black cartridge, printer will not accept either or both. I am getting a flashing yellow light with occasional green light and the message that they have not been installed properly. Took them out and put them in again, switched off and on and nothing seems to make a difference.

the issues is probably a defective black cartirdge. Is the cartridge canon branded? If you are using a compatible cartridge it was most likely not deprogrammed.

How do I get the numbers of pages automatically printed on the pages that I print out from the website? -

I used to get the page numbering on the pages that I print out automatically from the internet. Now I get the date on all the pages ex. 4/21/2006. I want the page numbering from ex. Page 1 of 2 should be in the right hand corner of the pages I print out from the web. I get the date only.

That depends on what program you are using but if you go to Tools tab and make the selections for header and footer and page numbers to be displayed in print.

What happends if I use a different type of ink for my printer? -

I just bought a new HP all-in-one C3180 printer(ink #92-93), but I also have a HP all-in-one 1311(ink #27-28). I still have a couple of ink cartiges from the 1311, is it ok if I use them in the new C3180?

If the cartridges fit properly, it should be ok although not recommended. Line it up with an old one and look for differences, if they are virtually identical then I am sure it wouldn t hurt to try. Hey, whats the worst that can happen? Just pull it out if it doesn t work.

These cartridges are differen and you will not be able to use it

If the cartridges fit, I don t see why you wouldn t be able to use them

Desktop printers that are easy to refill? -

I need to replace my all-in-one printer and I want one that has easily refillable cartridges that I can do at home. I go through A LOT of ink and I an economical solution Any suggestions?

Yep- I ve got a great one for ya- get the HP L7680. You can get a recertified one w/ 1 year warranty from newegg.com for $100. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… As far a refilling, there is a much better solution out there. Refilling cartridges is messy, you have to do it often, and the cartridges become clogged. Do what I do and use a continuous ink system. Continuous ink systems hold a LOT of ink, and you only have to refill the tanks when they get empty not the cartridges. Its perfect for me because I use color a lot. The L7680 is perfect for the continuous ink system because the printheads are separate from the cartridges. You can get the ink systems on ebay or around the web. This is the one I have and it works fairly well: http://cgi.ebay.com/Bulk-Ink-CIS-for-HP-… although there are some others out there. You may want one that you can get the air out of the lines a bit easier than mine (air in the lines are really bad for the printheads). I m thinking about buying this: http://cgi.ebay.com/CISS-CIS-for-HP-88-L… If you have any questions let me know. I ve been recommending both the printer and ink system to everyone I know because I love being able to print in color without worrying about ink costs at all. Cheers, -K

Canon PIXMA MX700 is great. Also, the ink cartridges is very very cheap, popular and reliable. http://blog.123inkcartridges.ca/2008/11/…

How do I prevent printer ink going dry? -

One of my printers is not used a lot and the printer cartridges dry out. Since the ink is very expensive, how can I prevent this from happening?

turn your printer on from time to time when not in use.. so the ink in the cartridge will be shaked..usually printer inks is a fast drying ink. so when not used for sometime mostly it dries up before you can use it.. or manually give it a shake every morning . hehe

make sure you store your printer away from windows where glass meeting heat can destroy alot of stuff and store in a cool chill place. also if you don t use it very much try to shake it around every so often to rotate it.

There are special ink cartridge storage boxes that often come with new printers. They are not ideal but it is much better than leaving it inside the printer to dry out. Maybe your computer supply store has one.
