Please can someone tell me how to stop a Lexmark printer from continuing to print alignment pages ? -

After I changed the ink cartridge the Lexmark printer wouldn t stop printing the alignment page. I would be very grateful to anyone who could give me advice on how to stop it. Babs

All printers like to do that. Our HPs (we ve quot;gone throughquot; 3 so far, as we tend to buy the least expensive models) always insist on a test pattern when a new cartridge goes in, and I think it s to make sure the human fingers didn t mess up when they sealed the little thingies that hold the cartridge in place.

you can try another toner thats the easiest thing, but if the line remains it could be wear on the fuser roller - power off the printer, removethe toner cartridge - be careful and look for a small enclosed unit this will have a flap you can move - open this and you will see the fuser roller - look for any wear marks on this - it will have a teflon coating that does wear after a time

As most people have said, it s possible it s the drum assembly. However, it could be the bottom plate. If your printer s maintenance software offers bottom plate cleaning, try that. Or just fold a paper in half and run it through your printer a bunch of times.

It probably is a toner problem, the electrostatic roller is most likely not discharging and charging properly.

I have an Epson all-in-one printer, and I was wondering whether you could print your own postcards on blank postcard sheets? I suppose what with the price of ink and everything, it s probably cheaper to buy postcards, but I m curious all the same. Many thanks.

We have an all-in-one Epson and the software provided prints postcard size prints. One thing to be aware of. The prints are not waterproof and recipients could end up with a psychedelic mess. You can spray a protection coat over them but it starts to get very expensive

yes u can as long as you have a printer that can print envelopes/postcards. all you have to do is go to microsoft word, and download a post card template from quot;templates onlinequot;. then go to page setup ...click on the paper tab, and change the paper size to whatever size you want, and in the margins tab, change the layout to landscape . you will have to put the post card in your printer sideways, and slide the plastic thing (i forget what it s called) all the way over so that the post-card fits securely in your printer before you hit print...or you could use a different software to do it, but you would still have to print it the same way :) hope that helps

Is there a way to print pdf files, but with patches covering whatever I dont want to print? -

I have pdf files that I want to print, but I don t want to print out huge pictures (neither with color nor black/white). I know there is a way to do this, but I don t know an easy way - I think last time I attempted, it would only print one page at a time and it was hard to select multiple patches at a time of what I did not want printed.

Copy the pdf to word - insert shapes (boxes) amp; adjust the colors/borders - it ll block whatever you want amp; it s quicker than dorkin around with adobe.

Check out your local college,university, hospital,any large industry. If you know anybody on the inside. they may have a service where when they upgrade they offer the used equipment for a size able reduction in price. most equipment is still in good shape and good for years of use. you can get one for a song that way some times...also if you know anybody in the janitorial department of places like that,it s amazing what gets thrown out. just because somebody gets a better unit. SAMSUNG ML-2010, you cannot touch a colour laser printer let alone one that does photos for under $200. the best you can hope for is a reliable monochromatic one.

Sounds to me like the cable might be subject to some electro magnetic interference. Either that or the cable is just going bad. I would try a new cable, or isolate the cable away from things that could be causing interference such as power cables other cables. If that does not help, uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

That black cylinder is not a magnet, but is a cylinder of iron with a hollow center commonly called an iron core. This acts as an EMI (electro-magnetic interference) filter when a cable runs through it or is wrapped around it once or twice through the center. Some manufacturers use them, others don t. How it works: when electrical signals run through a wire they create small magnetic fields around the wire as the electricity moves through each wire that can create interference (noise) in neighboring wires and corrupt the data being transmitted. The iron core helps to absorb the magnetic fields and reduce the interference between wires thus helping create a cleaner data signal. Hope that helps.

From what I learned in college when coming to electronics, that lil black cylinder that you see there is a magnet. What happens is that with certain electronics, there needs to be a smooth flow of electricity. Usually electricity fluctuates up and down, and some electronic components cant handle more or less electricity than what they are rated for. So what happens is (u will find this in a lot of stereo amplifiers) that they will put a magnet somewhere along the wires and wrap the wires around it once or twice. That magnet some how smooths out the flow of electricity to the device so that it wont fluctuate up and down causing problems.

Hey, I ve had the same problem. If it s the same cause for us both, then it s not a printer problem, your wife s computer most likely had lots of documents in the printer queue waiting to print. This would happen if she tried to print something online when the printer was quot;offlinequot;. The problem would be compounded if she, in her frustration, clicked print over and over, which would load the same print job into the queue over and over... Anyway, it s easy to solve. Open the print job queue from Control Panelgt;Printers amp; Faxesgt;YOUR PRINTER NAME and delete (or quot;cancelquot;) all the print jobs. THEN bring the printer online. If it still spits out blank sheets, let it go. Once it finishes all the obsolete quot;print jobsquot;, it ll settle down.

See the instructions with your refill kit to see how much ink your cartridges can hold. 2. Before inserting the needle, make a small hole in the top of the cartridge (one for each color chamber). As long as you reset the chip, refilling the cartridge with ink from a refill kit will not be a problem. A resetting tool can be used to reset the memory on the chip. This allows the printer to recognize the cartridge as being full which makes printing with a refilled cartridge possible.
