Would a laser or an ink jet printer be better for occasional printing? -

I only use my ink jet printer every once and a while. It seems that whenever I need it, the cartridge has dried out. Would a laser printer toner cartridge be OK if I only use it once every two or three weeks?

No, toner particles for LASERJET printers last FOREVER, and never dry up. I can t believe how long HP Laserjets have been around...and the prices just like Computer PCs have dropped. There are GOOD low cost options for professional quality printing in Black amp; white and the Best Advice unless you like spending good money buying expensive inkjet cartridges, if I were in your shoes I would simply look for an older Hewlett Packard (HP) Laserjet Printer like one from the HP Laserjet 4 or 5 series, HP 2100 or 2200 series etc. and NO LASERJET PRINTERs are Not Bad for Your Health? As you know the print quality for any papers or documents you have to submit is TERRIFIC and all the drivers are still readily availble on-line for download. Like someone else suggest I actually saw some GOOD WORKHORSE HP LASERJET 4 printers on sale for $12.00 on CRAIGLIST which caught me by surprise me...since I personally own like 4 Hewlett Packard black amp; white HP Laserjets that I paid from a free-gift away, $35, $65 and like $1,500 lt;= years ago brand new. Naturally I don t need any more but where I saw it was on my local CRAIGSLIST under the FOR SALE category then COMPUTERS. What happened was Seller bought a huge lot of commercial HP Laserjet printers on few pallets and simply did not have storage. Just be PATIENT if you didn t see any under a wildcard search or maybe POST YOUR OWN CL Inquiry in 2 places under WANTED and COMPUTERS but most likely all you will attract is people dumping inkjet printers. EBAY COMPUTERs might be another Good Buy to find a good laserjet printer, but do yourself a favor and SEARCH BY CLOSEST DISTANCE bec Samp;H will certainly be costly. Also genuine unopened HP toner lasts forever and never dries up, and with patience can be bought for like $25 or more and one toner cartridge can easily last a full year. Hope the Above Info Helps!

If you re inkjet keeps drying out then a laser would be perfect, and seeing as you don t use it very much it would last you very long, but of course remember that the toner is more expensive than ink and so is the laser printer, but if you re willing to spend the occasional big amount this would be a good investment. Not only are Laser Jets more practical but they print much cleaner and crisp and more professional looking.

Laser advantage over inkjet is that you can print more copies but the toner is slightly more expensive. In the long run though you win. Also a color laser is more expensive than an inkjet. As for the drying problem, you should not face it with the laser. Good luck

Main advantage of Laser is the printing speed and save ink cost. Ink jet will print your better photos due to resolution, but is costly and take 4ever, print photo etc.. just goes to cotsco, store is much cheaper in term of cost.

I d say a laser one, as inkjet printers have a tendency to clog up if they re not used regularly - the ink dries in the jets.

Un-install all the printer drivers and start over in this manner. Remove the USB cable from the printer only, then power it on. Re-install the CD and re-connect the USB cable only when the software asks you. Let it finish the install and reboot the computer. Windows will find the new hardware and it will work. That s it !!!!

Control Panel, then Printers, then you can set the default printer to any other printer that s present. I suspect your default printer is currently the Image Writer. You could even delete the Image Writer from the printer list if you want.

There is usually one black and one colour cartridge in printers. The other optional photo one you would usually have to buy as its optional, but if the box says it comes with two coloured ones then it should have two. Printers will usually give you an error message if it has one cartridge missing. I llll try to find the manual for it says and get back to you. Edit You should have one black one colour. When they say on the box something is optional it means it can also work if but you have to buy it separate. Photo cartridges are usually swapped for the regular colour one when printing photos. It seems you have bought something that was not what it should have been. You can always go to the manufacturer s website to download drivers that you need for equipment like printers, scanners, etc. I end up losing my CD within the first day or so of having something, and end up using the websites for basically everything. Thank god they put that stuff up there for blondies like me!

Go in to preferences on your printer menu and then go into the maintenance tab on the top row. There should be a roller cleaning option in there and it will explain the process to you once you click to activate it.

Printer composes two types of rollers in your printer. The hard plastic roller which can be clean by alcohol and the rubber roller can be clean by rubber roller cleaner.

You have to take the cartridges out. And then wipe with a towel or tissue the part where ink comes out. Then put them back in the printer and re-allign it. I use to have this printer. Its very old and u should get a new one.

See if your printer needs to be re-aligned. Remove the cartridge/s then re-insert. You should get a message that says to check re-alignment.

Run the printer alignment from the printers software or options panel... It prints out a sheet, you match up the lines, then it straightens itself out.
