Is printer ink the biggest rip off known to man? -

What can I do to stop paying a fortune for printer cartridges? I think buying a printer with cheaper ink is a good option. Any suggestions?

I would recommend buying the best printer for the money you can spend, ignoring the price for the cartridges, then going to amazon and searching for your printer, with another word like quot;compatible inkquot; or something like that. My HP laserjet 1018 OEM cartridges cost 70 bucks; I get them on amazon for 26.

The basic business model is not unlike video game consoles: lure you in with very cheap printers (sold at a loss) and then sell the cartridges for lots of profit. Typically if you buy a more expensive printer, the cartridges cost much less than if you buy a cheap printer. This has lots to do with the better engineering of the better printer as well as the fact that those printers are sold for profit (not at a loss) If you want the cheapest printer to use, get a laser printer. They re not very expensive and you can get thousands of prints from a single toner cartridge.

You can always purchase ink online. There are many sites that sell ink cartridges that are quot;compatiblequot; with your printer. For instance, if I chose to buy a single ink cartridge locally, the price would be $13-$17 each. Well, I don t do this. I found a site that sells ink for my Epson printer and I can get 4 high capacity cartridges for $26. Simply do a Google search for ink for your printer model and you should be able to find a retailer that sells ink for your printer at a much lower cost. Good luck!

You can refill them, there are places like Island InkJet that will refill old ones. Although some companies discourage this and could void the warranty on the printer and they say the quality isn t as good. If you print lots you could try a laser printer, but Toner is expensive, but might be worth it if it lasts longer than ink.

Printer ink is not the biggest ripoff known to man (yet). It still hasnt cost us hundreds of billions like the stimulus plan. However ink is over $5,000 a gallon (figure it out with $20 cartridges holding a half ounce of ink) which makes oil a bargain in comparison. What can you do? Buy a printer for which you can find inexpensive cartridges. Right now Epson is having a blowout on the 5-color R280 for $60. It even prints on DVDs. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consu… I get cartridges for my Epsons from http://ccs-digital.com for under $3 each. They have a unique product - a two-piece cartridge where the ink is in a separate tank inside the cartridge. When the ink runs out, you replace just the ink tank and the original chip resets itself to full. These hold 50% more ink than disposable cartridges. As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn t compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson and have had no down time since. Epson has also made things easier for their customers by standardizing their cartridges. Most of their printers use one of two types. The three-color plus black use T069 (CX5000 CX6000 CX7000 CX7400 CX7450 CX8400 CX9400FAX CX9475Fax NX100 NX105 NX400 Workforce 30/40/500/600 and C120) and the 5-color plus black use T078 (R260 R280 R380 RX580 RX595 and RX680). This means you should be able to find a lot of people who use the same cartridges you do. When it s time to replace the printer, the next model will probably also use the same ones.

Here is some information which could be helpful to you. You don t always need to buy new, genuine branded cartridges: http://www.castleink.com/_a-compatible-i…

Where can I get a wiring diagram for the HP 430 amp;488 plotters? -

I am spending too much on new cartridges, pen carriages and trailing cables. I need to be able to wire around open trailing cable wires.

I wouldn t recommend doing it. Service manuals with block schematics are available from HP.

How do i connect a Mutoh Falcon Outdoor to the computer to print without a RIP? -

Or where do i find a regular print driver for it, please provide actual links to it.. Thank You This is a 60quot; Outdoor printer with Eco Sol Inks

The short answer is that you cannot print to the Mutoh Falcon printer unless you are using RIP software. There are no Windows or Mac drivers available for this printer. Mutoh ships RIP software with the Falcon printers, generally from Onyx or SAi. If you purchased the printer used, I would go back to the seller and attempt to get them to provide the software that shipped with the printer.

How do you get your printer to keep printing when one of the ink cartridges is out of ink? -

1 of the 6 cartridges is out of ink, and now nothing will print. Is there a way to still get black print when the color carts are gone?

It totally depends on the model of your printer. Some are manufactured to have all cartridges to have ink in order to function.

What I do is if the cartridge for printing in color is out then I change the font color to black (which is the font color automatically unless you set it to something else) and then print the document in black. Or if the black ink is out then change the the font color to something other than black like a dark blue or a dark green (something that looks like black if you really really need black) or any other color if you like and so that the color cartridge is used instead.

Select the print option. Go to advanced tab and choose print in grey scale/black only. Also, deselect the box marked to print optimized.

NO!!! there is NO WAY TO KEEP PRINTING WHEN ONE OF THE INK CARTIDGES IS OUT.Unless you want to just print in the other color ink...................

What is a good commercial label printer? -

I need color labels that are approx 6 1/2 x 4quot;. I ll need to print about 200 labels a day.

200 labels a day are pretty much a drop in the bucket for most industrial/commercial label printers like Zebra, Datamax, Intermec, etc. My prference is the Zebra Xi series printers (www.zebra.com), durable and easy to work on and setup. Purchase the labels for these printers in most any color, shape and size you want and with or without any pre-printed text or graphics. These printers can actually print thousand of labels a day. Here s a link that lists several different label printers of all kinds that may be of interest. http://www.epinions.com/Printers--label Best of luck.

What is the average # of 4-6 photos can my printer before ink is done ? -

My printer epson cx6000 gives me 53 color photos of 4 6 size. Is that below average or average ? And Manufacturer catridge replacement cost is 42$ just for colors. Black is another 13 $ ? Can some printers get me 100 photos printed without having to refill ?

53 is on the lower end of prints you should get per cartridge. Is this the cartridge that came with the printer or had you already replaced it with a new one? If it s the one that came with the printer, it s possible that it was not a full volume cartridge. Some printers don t come with a full volume ink cartridge, so you tend to get less prints. Photo printers in general drink up the ink pretty fast, so don t be dissapointed if you don t get too many prints. But like I said, 53 prints is on the lower end.

Does anyone know if it is possible to load the hp all in one 9130 officejet without the cd? -

I need to load the printer on my new computer but lost the cd does anyone know of a website that I can get it for free or do I need to go the hp website and buy it.

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/supp…

Click on the following link and then select which Operating System you re using. I d suggest downloading the drivers to somewhere you ll easily find them again as you ll need to install them then. Best of luck to you.

No need to buy it, Just go to HP.com and then to quot;support and driversquot; and enter your model number. This will let you download the right software for your printer.
