How do i install a brother computer? -

I had to unplug my printer from my computer fora couple days because my harddrive broke. Someone told me to install my CD and it would tell me what to do. and i did except on the last step it says I need to plug it in to the USB port. I tried all 3 of the usb ports ITS NOT WORKING!
