Why is my Brother printer printing all pages with a gray vertical band on the lefthand side of the paper? -

The Brother printer is Model HL-2040.The vertical band does not rub off. There are also black (not gray) spots scattered on the lefthand side of the paper (not all the time), Any suggestions you might have will be appreciated.

Image drum is failing, replace it. It s a DR-350 drum
