How can I connect to a printer over the internet? -

I would like to connect to a printer over the internet, both pc-s use windows xp sp2 and both are connected to the internet. How can I do it?

We need more information. I m assuming the printer is connected to one of the PCs and you want to print through the print server of the remote machine...right? I m also assuming there is NO special firewall to deal with. Using control panel, Firewall. If it s turned on, then click to allow exceptions and make sure that quot;file/print sharingquot; is a selected exception in the quot;exceptionsquot; tab. Click quot;Startquot;, quot;Runquot; and type \\ and the IP of the remote machine. You should be able to see the printer and connect to it...provided there is no special security. Again, if you have any firewalls to configure, it gets messy. ---------------- If the printer is on the network using the LPR protocol then the far firewall needs to allow that to pass to the printer. You can setup the printer on the PC using LPR. ---------------- If you have IIS running on the Print server. You can use that too. *************** Edit:Ok, are there any firewalls/routers in the way? I bet there are where the printer is.
