Just got a digital camera -- now i need to buy a printer. What kind of inexpensive printer would you suggest? -

you would be fine with a 30 dollar printer from wal-mart http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d… those work very well especially for the price and my mother has done well with one for the last year

Lexmark makes some great printers for under $50. Although sometimes they eat up the color ink fast especially with photos.

first , I would look for the cheapest ink and then buy a printer that uses that type, printers are cheap but ink is rediculously priced and refilling almost never works

HP

Office Depot got some made by Kodak which are about $ 150, which Kodak claims is good.

The new line of Kodak printers use ink that costs about half of what everybody else charges. The pictures looked like lab quality. The one they were selling at Wal mart (model 5100) was a particularly good deal.

i got a very cheap dell......its great if you only want to do letters but terrible quality for photos or anything that requires great detail....... actually i would get a printer that can take 2 ink cartridges, one for color and one for black......otherwise when you print black it will use the colored ink to make black......waste of money

The cost of the printer is not the only cost you need to consider. You also need to consider the cost of replacement ink/toner. I recommend Canon printers http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contro…

If you re going to print mostly text, get a laser printer. You can find a very good black and white laser printer in the low $200. The laser printer lasts longer, requires less maintenance and the toner doesn t have to be replaced too often. The cost per page is much much lower for laser printers than inkjet printers. For the occasional photos, take them to Walmart or a local lab. If you re thinking about only printing 4x6 size, then get a compact photo printer and use it only for photos.

Cheap printers are false economy, I used to have a magazine that listed the best performing ones but I must have thrown it away. Cheap printers can use up ink at a frightening rate and give poor color reproduction; a good printer will cost twice as much but the ink will last twice as long and give a better print quality, so it s cheaper in the long run. You might be better off taking most of your pictures to a store to have them printed, it is often cheaper than using your own printer.

I have been quite pleased with HP printers. When printing photographs, you can print them on regular paper, but you will not get the quality print you would probably want without using the special papers designed for making photographic prints. Edit: egf247 is quite correct. The costs of the ink cartridges are often the most expensive item associated with printing photos.

I suggest u get a color laser rather than inkjet.. though laser might b costlier, its maintenance cost will be less...
