How do I hook up my printer through a wireless connection? -

I promise I will vote a best answer tonight if someone can please help me. I just got a new laptop. I have not installed any printer on it. I am about to install the cd for my printer. I have a desktop hooked up to my printer alread. I have a wireless router hooked up for internet purposes. How do I hook it up so I can print things from a diffrent room that my bedroom (where the printer is). Please if possible explain this in lamens terms. Thank you very much :)

very easy 1 - On your desktop - go to Printers 2 - right click on the printer you want to use 3 - on the menu select properties 4 - In Properties click on the Sharing Tab 5 - Click Share This Printer then give it a name. On your LapTop 1 - Go to Printers 2 - Add A New Printer 3 - In the wizard choose A Network printer then click next 4 - select connect to this printer 5 - in the box type \\name of desktop\name of printer click next 6 - set as default click next 7 - finish

Ok, well there are many ways you could do this. The simplest way, which in your case means you do not have to buy anything else is to keep the printer connected to your desktop computer. Then set up your wireless network for your laptop. On your desktop choose to share files and printers in your network properties. Then put in the printer driver installation cd into you laptop.

The easiest networking solution comes from Apple. Download Bonjour for windows and it will find and do the stuff you want with mimimum hassle.

ok first on the computer ur printer is hooked up to click start, control panal, printers and other hardware, printers and faxes. then right click the printer u want to share then in the menu click properties then the shareing tab. click share this printer. name the printer. Then on ur computer u wanna print from go throught the same proccess used to get to printers and faxes then click add a printer follow the wizard clicking use quot;a network printer...quot; then browse for a printer... double click the printers host computer; the one its connected to click the printer then yes to the box that pops up... then yes to the next one and then finish.... that is if ur running xp on both computers....

goto controll panel and then printers... click add printer, select wireless or on the network or whatever for whatever os u use and it will search, if it doesn t find it then click browse and it shoud point u the network folder. Otherwise select it. Then click on your printer and it will download the drivers

laymens terms* :P anyways if you can connect your laptop to your desktop via wireless your in the right direction. Make sure file amp; print sharing is enabled, and then install the printer on your desktop (not the laptop) when the desktop is setup, right click the printer, select sharing, select SHARE THIS PRINTER, and name it appropriately, Applyamp;Ok Connect via the laptop to the wireless network and go into your network (to see the shares) the printer should show up, if it doesn t follow the steps through if you missed something, install the printer via the wireless NOT the CD (saves space)

You hook the printer up to a computer that is on the network, and then what you do is go to the printer properties of the printer and make sure that you have quot;File and Printquot; sharing on, and that the printer is quot;Shared on the networkquot; You then need to go to your laptop and add the printer by going to add printer in control panel, and find it on the network. It will install the drivers for you and you are all set!
