How do I change the IP address on my Canon Laser Class 3175MS? -

We have upgraded our network and our IP addresses have changed. We have a Canon Laser Class 3175ms facsimile that I need to change the IP address on. I can find the Ethernet menu but there are no options to change the IP address. Any ideas?

look in your user guide this machin has to be set up with a IP address it will NOT do it by its self. if you cant figure it out call the local canon dealer or national canon office and sales can guide you through it ok? if you need help fast call sharon @ 765-457-5571 and she can help you .................

when you plug it into your router it should be assigned an ip address automatically. go into your router and look at the attached devices and it will show you what ip address has been assigned to each device on your network.

What is the best printer for a good university student? -

i would like a printer that prints fast, priceless and does not consumes a lot of energy.

A good university student would know that quot;pricelessquot; means quot;very costly.quot; I assume you don t want a printer like that. :) Unless you absolutely need photo quality, go with a laser. Lasers have sharper text and are generally faster than inkjets. While toner cartridges are more expensive than ink, they print more pages, so the cost per page is lower. But you pay more up front. Inkjets are better for photos. Personally, I use both. I have an inkjet for photos and a color laser for jobs which don t need absolute photo quality. You can get a good color laser today for $80! Samsung CLP-300 at http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p… I have this printer and it s really nice. Toner cartridges are more expensive then inkjet cartridges ($70 for a set of 4 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp ) but they last for about 2,000 pages. It does a nice job on photos, but an inkjet is still better for this. Inkjet: As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn t compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson CX5000 and have had no down time since. The C120 (printer only - no scanner) is on sale at Ritz Camera free after rebate but you must also buy a digital camera. The cheapest is $15. With $7 shipping you pay $22 for printer and camera. It uses 3 colors and 2 of the SAME black cartridge. http://www.cheapstingybargains.com/55740… A set of 5 cartridges are $23 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp The top Epson all-in-ones are the CX7400, 7450 or CX8400 which use 3 colors plus black, the same cartridges as above. You can find them for $50-$60. Circuit City has the CX8400 for $60 right now. They all have place to stick in digital media cards so you can print photos without a computer. The 8400 has a little screen so you can preview. I have this one and it s great. The RX595 scanner/copier/printer also prints on DVDs. If you can find one of the discontinued versions like the R280/380, you can save some money. They use 5 colors plus black and have high photo quality. It was on sale at Ritz Camera for $45 after rebate with digital camera. They no longer seem to have the printer, though the rebate is good to the end of the month, so maybe they ll get more in. The printer is $130. The cheapest camera is $15 bringing the total to $145. Then there is $100 rebate and free shipping, bringing the final cost to $45. A set of 7 cartridges (1 extra black) is $30 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp You might want to call Ritz Camera and see if they re getting more in. I have also seen them on ebay for $50-$60 but you have to be careful. Some of them are without ink. R280 $70 This is very similar to the RX595 and has many good reviews from actual users of the product. It uses the same cartridges as RX595. http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/S… RX595 $99 with free shipping - expires today! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

If you want prints fast you should find laser printer.Recommend two quality brands Brother http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i… or HP http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…

I think i ll go fir the HP printer, it is much affordable, small and compact...

How do I get printer ink out of a couch cushion? -

Everything I ve found only gets ink out of metal and plastic! My mother told me that couches aren t supposed to get wet, so how am I supposed to get this out??!!

You will never get that out but you can flip the cushion, no just replace it.

Did you try using vanish?

I think the best thing is to bring it to a professional.....that way you don t risk bleaching your couch cushion at the place you are trying to get the stain out....

How much would it cost to print out about 8 doublesided pages at Kinkos? -

If you can think of a cheaper place to get this done at where would it be? also its for a yearbook type book

Your local library will be cheaper than either kinkos or the ups store. http://www.tangerineofficesystems.com http://www.d-ros.com http://officeworldadvice.blogspot.com

They have a nice program that if you email a publisher or word file to them they print them for like .49 each side. I had a whole booklet done from them it was nice, and they delivered the next day... FED EX / kinkos... call the local one and ask them about it. If it is a local, delivery is free .

many UPS and Staples can do it, too. sorry, idk pricing

How/where can I make or get a professional quot;metallicquot; CD label? -

I can t find any pics of them, but I ve seen CD labels that are have this sort of quot;metallicquot; look to them, and the CD shines through? I think those AOL junk mail CDs used to look like that. Any help would be appreciated!

1.Here s what Wisegeek.com has to say. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-easi… 2.Here s one place I found just now that sells them. You design it, they make it. Metallic. (Edit: Whoops! http://www.printmything.com/t20/Custom-P… 3.Don t know about a metallic looking label for a CD, but I bought a cheap Lite-On CD/DVD burner, (Dual Layer, SuperMulti, CD amp; DVD burner plus player. Has LightScribe technology. About $45 bucks. Compares to units that cost 3 to 5 times as much), at Walmart. It has LightScribe Technology.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightscribe You have to buy HP disks that are for Lightscribe. Cost more than regular disks. I just wanted a cheap, reliable burner for CD s and DVD s. This was an added bonus. I have been using mine for a year and a half now, and installed one in a clients computer over two years ago. They both still work GREAT!

We ve been able to achieve that look I think you mean by reducing the percentage of the color in question - it had to do with dot density - how many dots within say a square inch. For a pantone color - say a dark red - but instead of having it set up as 100% we reduced the coverage to 40% and it allowed the silver of the nature disc to come through. Other ways are to set it up in CMYK or full color and then NOT have white underneath it - then the metal or silver again comes through. We also tweaked the contrast to reduce the vividness of the color so the silver would show through. Your options increase if you re professionally pressing them. If you re having them duplicated your option is to use the CMYK and have it printed on a silver disc.

You can always buy an external LightScribe DVD/CD writer that plugs into a USB port on your computer that will burn a metallic printed label onto the top of the CD they run from about 100 to 200 dollars at major electronics retailers. Then, you need to buy special LightScribe discs and viola! Printed Discs!

How do you refill a HP Laserjet 4L with toner please? -

I have toner available and would like to be able to refill rather than replace the toner and drum assembly in the printer.

You make a hole. Pour in the toner, with a small funnel. Block the hole, with tape or rubber bung. That s it. Google quot;refill laser cartridgequot; and you will find several sites with instructions

Toner molecules are all shaped differently. Don t do it! Pay the $50 for the remanufactured cartridge and don t wreck your printer

Hi, With great care as it is horrible to get off. plenty of newspaper and surgical gloves, try not to rush the job it can get messy. Hope this help s Dr K.I.,A.

What is the best large format printer? -

I am looking for something to print wall-sized maps and pictures. Image quality is important, but I am also concerned about the cost of ink and other supplies. I have about $5000 to spend, but would like to spend less if possible.

you need to look somewhere with used printers. I am using the Epson Stylus 9800 pro and it is amazing but it costs about 5 G s. Look at Epson and find the large format printers for personal use. Check this link I love these pritners but you need lots of research and studing to get the full capabilities on them.

How do you reset a lexmark x3430 printer cartridge that has been refilled? -

MY lexmark printer says it is out of ink and will not do anything, On my HP printer there is a trick to tell it it is a new cartridge. is there one for the lexmark x3430

There is no such trick for that particular printer. Just look for fading, that is the time you want to replace or refill the cartridge.

What problem does my laser pointer have? -

The little button on my laser pointer doesn t work. How do I fix it?

Explain your situation more thoroughly. If it jams, then you might have to take it apart, and simply move the button end so it fits better into the hole. If the laser pointer just won t turn on, no matter how hard you press, you need to change the batteries, you can get those at RadioShack. Bring the cell with you when buying. The battery cells may look alike, but you might need an expert to differ if you cannot see any of the text on the battery. One of the wires may be loose. I do not suggest messing with those, since you will have to remove the plastic covering that is supposed to prevent electric shock. Try my advice. The first two are the most common situations.

You can contact the seller and ask them to fix it for you.

What type of printer should I buy? -

Any suggestions for a printer at a moderate price? I want to be able to print decent quality pictures and use it for invitations. Basic function mostly.

You should go with HP they have the best printers hp.com

Photos mean ink jet. Unfortunately, photo paper and photo ink are pricy and getting digital photos developed has really come down in price. IMHO, it s not really worth it to print your own pictures at home. Once you take photos out of the picture (so to speak), the big problem with ink jets is they dry out when not used frequently. For home use, we go through quot;burstsquot; of usage. Some days we ll print 50 pages, but we may not print anything for a week and a half after that. For home use, laser printers are by far the best. They suffer no ill effects from sitting around unused. There are color Laser printers (Xerox makes some good ones in their quot;phaserquot; line, HP would be my second choice). What you have to watch for is does the ink get recycled? Powdered ink (toner) is sprinkled on the page, and melted to it with a laser. The excess is scraped back off. Hopefully, it gets scrapped back into the toner cartridge - if not you end up buying ink more often. The problem is, sometimes in order to facilitate speedier printouts, the color toner just goes into a waste tray and is not recycled. So fastest isn t always best. If you really want to do pictures and want an inkjet, you want something that has separate ink cartridges for each of the colors. Many printers have a black (K) cartridge, and one cartridge that has Cyan (C), Magenta (M) and Yellow (Y). If you run out of Magenta, you must replace the entire color cartrdige. But if you have separate C, M amp; Y cartridges, you can just replace the M. Higher end photo printers will also come with additional (slightly different shades of) Cyan and Magenta (CMYKcm). See, the human eye can detect more varitions in color in blue, which is what Cyan and Magenta make, so you need more quot;blue dotsquot; on the page for brighter colors (at least as percieved by the human eye). Again, lower end printers will have a quot;photo cartrigequot; which typically replaces the K cartridge with a Kcm cartridge (again, run out of quot;cquot; and you have to replace the whole cartridge). Generally speaking, I would steer you towards Epson (maybe Alps) for ink jets.

go to walmart or frys. you can get name brand multi printers for around 50. if u only want to print picturse your better off with and ink jet jet kodak printer

Canon iP1300 works for me.

If you are looking at HP, and in the inkjet line of products, there are 3 types to choose from. Deskjet is low-end, it will do the basic functions, but the quality is not the best (image quality is ok, but the printer hardware is low-end). They are the cheapest. Photosmart is mid-range, probably more what you are looking for. Does nice photos, etc and can usually feed a range of paper types. All different features are available on different photosmart printers. Officejet is the label for HP s high end inkjet printers (this is a recent change - quot;officejetquot; used to indicate the features the printer had, but that is no longer the case). Officejet printers generally have a lower cost-per-page than Photosmart or Deskjet printers as well, which is something to take into consideration for home photo printing, since it s not cheap. You can compare different model numbers here: http://www.shopping.hp.com/printer;HHOJS…

i have a HP 3 in 1 it prints copies and scans... that way i can print pictures that i dont have saved into the computer....really good quality. and decent priced!

I have a photosmart C4I80 All-in-One and it gets you great pictures and quality. I suggest that one. Good luck!

How do i get the color to work when i print something? -

What i Want is how do i turn the color onto use the ink?

It depends what kind of printer it is. Make sure you have color ink. Go into your printer settings and change it. That is if yours is set up that way.

We gotta guess what make and model your printer is huh? You have a color image, print it! If you have color cartridges, it will print!

I get error 0x000006be while trying to install a printer under vista, what can I do? -

The exact error is: Windows can t open Add Printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006be). I tried downloading the driver for my Deskjet 845c thinking that was the problem but HP doesn t offer that drive due to the fact that Vista has that drive already built in.

I had the same problem and discovered after many hours that my printer was not compatible with vista. The tech told me it happens alot. Good luck.

hi yes i got the same i brought a HP PRINTER all in one form whsmiths F2180 i even phoned hp up and they said that it will not work with VISTA AND THAT WAS AFTER TWO HOURS ON THE PHONE TO THEM .
