How can I have a single copy of my printer on my laptop? -

I have vista on my labtop and move it around the house. Everytime I return to my printer and reconnect the USB another copy of the same printer is installed. I need to look thru a list of identical printers to find the one that isn t offline. The default option is useless.

Yes that is a pain, and I don t think you can get around it, can your laptop do a wireless printer ?, maybe that would be the way to go, hope this helped and good luck.

How can I permanently remove my printer software from my pc? -

hp office jet 5500 series. I tried uninstall using startgt;programsgt;hpgt;uninstall but when I re-install the software some of the features were missing.

Try uninstalling it from Control Panel gt; Add or Remove Programs. Also, after you ve uninstalled the software, reboot the computer before trying a re-install. You may also want to run a registry cleaner to ensure that there are no residual registry entries left behind after the uninstall, prior to doing your re-install. You may also want to re-check to ensure that you have the most current, up-to-date drivers before you do the re-install. Good luck!

Go to control panel, under add and remove program to uninstall the software

You take the printer software to the trash and then empty trash

Try using the Windows Add and Remove Programs functionality. This can be found in the Control Panel, just find the software in the list and click remove. Then follow the steps. Alternatively, or if this doesn t work, then try something like CCleaner (www.ccleaner.com), which has this functionality as well. CCleaner is also a good little maintenance program, I use it regularly on my home and work systems.

How can I check to see what has been printed from my computer? -

I think someone has been using my computer while I am out of the office and I want to see what documents they are printing.

unless you already had logging software installed, it s too late, yuo can t If you use XP / Win NT LOCK the workstation through CTRL ALT DEL b4 you leave it unattended.

You might have it in Event Viewer in Computer Management. I check my servers for print stuff all the time, but I m not too familiar with end users. It s worth a shot though. Right click My Computer, click on Manage, then click on the plus sign on event viewer. There you ll have logs of pretty much everything on your comp. Hope this helps!

How can I remove my old printer, when I click on remove, it tells me it is still in use? -

And I have to wait until the printing stops, the fact is, it is not in use at all, and I have even pulled the plug out.

go to system tray (bottom right) and see if there an icon of a printer there it may have prints waiting to be printed, if you dont need these jobs to be completed then delete them now uninstall your printer

Agree with the first person above based on what you state. If the printer Icon is on your tool bar at the bottom, then double click the Icon. This should bring up a menu for the printer jobs that the printer has in the que. You will need to click on printer then another menu drops down and click on cancel all print jobs. There should then me a 0 on the left hand side of the bottom. If its not that that s doing it them you may have a corrupted file for the printer that will not uninstall. This happened to me and the computer would not uninstall it for toffee. Try system restore to a day when you knew your printed last worked without problems. Then try uninstalling again. If that does not work then you may only be able to remove the printer if you wipe the whole system and reinstall all the programmes except the printer -that was what had to be done to mine as the computer chap could not get the computer to delete the programme for toffee. It has since happened again with Word 2007 refusing to uninstall when it developed a problem I could not fix. The files get corrupted somehow and then you ve had it. I was lucky that time as system restore worked and so took me back to before the fault occurred. I found this but I know nothing about it as I have never used it myself but see if it might help. http://www.perfectuninstaller.com/index.… Edit Also found this http://www.error-repair-tools.com/ppc/fi…

Look at the printer and check if their are any print jobs in the que by going: Start/ Printer and Faxes Double click on the printer (a ne window should appear) Press printer (on the top) Cancel all documents This is on microsoft XP Proceed to remove/uninstall the printer Hope this has helped
