How do I make my printer wireless? -

I have a computer that is hook to my router wireless and I want to make my printer wireless too.

You can use any of the manufacturers wireless print server devices to connect to your printer. Then when you configure the printer driver you need to install your drivers and say that they belong to a network device and that it is spooling the print for you. Configure it exactly the same way that you would set up a PC to spool your print. It s a little harder setting up with a manufacturer specific device but not impossible. If you go to staples.com etc you should find the correct device though please bear in mind that when you take into account the cost of the spooler that it may be cheaper to buy a new printer that does have wireless printing, they are cheap and inexpensive. If you are don t want to waste the printer you currently have then it is likely that you could donate to a charity or school, this makes a great tax write off as well.

Your printer either needs to plug into your wireless router, if your router has a USB port on the back, or you need to buy a wireless print server Here is an example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… Of course, that is for usb printers, parallel printers have different adapters, and they come in all brands and prices. Look on that website for more.

I made my HP 1600 Colour Laser wireless by simply adding a HP Wireless print server I found on e-Bay for a few quid Simply search for wireless print server A new one is about £30 More info here http://www.microwarehouse.co.uk/catalogu…

You would most likely need a wireless print server. Many companies make them and they can be fairly inexpensive.

if not a wireless printer by itself its difficult to make one as wireless printer

How do i print a image on to a blank cd? -

Do you have to have a special kind of printer or something?

You can buy a special printer to perhaps print the cd cover directly onto a burnt copy (not that I am advocating stealing music), but I buy a CD shaped sticker paper that you can print an image on using a regular printer. Sometimes it comes with software that allows you to decorate it, etc., and can be picked up at places like Best Buy, or even Staples. A good brand of label is the Avery CD Stomper (Third link below)

Yes you need a special printer, most are made by epson. You also need special printable CD s.

yes a good example is an epson R300 unless you use cd labels that you print on and then stick to the cd

Is it possible to set a printer to only print a specific number of pages? -

I have a public computer room with 2 computers and 1 printer. it is a senior housing community and it is for our residents. There is no one in the room watching and 1 resident keeps printing large files 20 - 50 pages. He brings his own paper, my fear is he will use up the printer cartridge to fast. I would like to set printer to only print like 5 pages at a time.

Hi, There is a software you can get to restrict printing and PC Security, not sure which ones but have heard of them, try your local IT Store. Domo

You can go into your quot;printer preferencesquot; and set it for five copies, but if the person who s printing is familiar with that,he/she can set it back. Your best bet is to explain to them how expensive the ink is, and you ll be glad to let them print that much, if they contribute.

How do you fix the no communication issue between the computer and printer? -

I can t print at all. I tried reinstalling softwares, plugging the cables in different USB ports, yet nothing happens. The cables are working fine, because for some odd reason, my first printer still manages to scan pictures, ruling out the damaged cable part. In add, when I hit print.... My first printer gives me the message that the computer can t communicate with the printer. The second printer, when looking at the printing process screen, shows that the job is printing, yet the printer sits still, which is aggravating, lol. Any help would be appreciated.

must be running vista. Do this, unplug the printer usb. Turn the printer off. Plug in the usb, turn on the printer. Do you hear a beep. You may have to reinstall the driver disc again.

Do what Dana V said, but also unplug the printer from power outlet for a few minutes. Then plug back in when the driver software tells you to do it. Good luck

go to Control Panel open printers. right click on your printer icon. menu will drop. choose quot;properties.quot; and left click window box will open. click on tab that says quot;portsquot; take check mark out of LTP box. scroll down to USB box and put check mark in there. hit quot;applyquot; or quot;OKquot; reboot

Hope someone can help, would be appreciated.Thank you.Dave. Hope someone can help

Assuming you have windows XP home or Pro If both your PC`s are internet connected you can create a home network. You can also (after creating network) just configure printer sharing. First open :- Start/Help and support/ then type create home network in search box. To connect to a printer that is attached to another computer A printer has to be shared before you can connect to it. Open Printers and Faxes. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to open the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next. Click A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer, and then click Next. Connect to the desired printer using one of the following three methods. Click a method for instructions. Browse for a printer. Click Browse for a printer, and then click Next. In the Shared printers list, click the printer you want to connect to. Notes In the list, printers are indicated by an icon of a printer followed by its name. An icon of a computer indicates a computer that has at least one printer connected to it. To see the printer, double-click the computer icon. When you click a printer icon, its name appears in the Printer box. Click Next. Type the printer name. Click Connect to this printer. In the Name box, type the printer name using the following format: \\computer_name\printer_name Click Next. Connect to an Internet or intranet printer. Using a printer’s URL allows you to connect to a printer across the Internet, provided you have permission to use that printer. If you cannot connect to the printer using the general URL format below, please see your printer s documentation. Click Connect to a printer on the Internet or on a home or office network. Type the URL to the printer using the following format: http://printserver_name/Printers/share_n… Click Next. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish connecting to the printer. The icon for the printer appears in the Printers and Faxes folder. Notes To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers and Faxes. After you have connected to a shared printer on the network, you can use it as if it were attached to your computer

Go into the printer icon and Right click Select(sharing) Select (Share) the name of your installed printer will appear Select (Apply Start-Go to (My Network Places)Select (setup home/office /network and follow the wizard through once you have done this reboot your desktop On laptop go to(Printers) and Select(add printer) follow the wizard through Select (A Network/printer attatched to another computer)Next Select (Browse for printer) up should come your home network that it can see highlight it and double click it should start searching for the printer once it finds it choose (select as default) But 2 things to note if your laptop is running Vista physically install the printer on your laptop so that it has the proper drivers before going thru the wizard you can remove that once it is installed and working also make sure your desktop is on and logged in as this acts as your print server

In quot;simple termsquot; call up the properties of the printer on the desktop and set it as shared. Then add a printer on the laptop and point it to the shared printer on the desktop. If this doesn t help then hopefully someone will put a more detailed answer on here.

How do I change the default settings of my printer? -

I want my printer to print from the back page to the front every time, but I don t want to have to click quot;Print from Back Pagequot; every time I print. How can I make this my default setting in Microsoft Word?

Actually what you want to do is not done in word but in your printers preferences, so it would help to know the printer. But since I don t know what yours is, I ll tell you about HP, you can go to start/settings/control panel/printers and faxes/ dbl click on your printer, see the printer menu, click on properties/advanced/printing defaults/advanced/document options/layout options/page order. Not sure if there is an easier way to do this.

I dont think you can thats why it is default. But I need more info about the printer and software to help you more.

How to print and make it look reversed? -

Ok I have a certain type of paper its like transparency. It has a rough side which is the side you are supposed to print on. But the other side is slick. Now I am cutting out the verses and pasting to plastic cards, But it feels rough. If I print on the slick side it smears. How can I print on the rough side but then glue it rough side down. Like mirror image.

You have to print on the rough side ... But before priting, go in printer preference and select the quot;MIRRORquot; command so that the printer prints the page backward. So that , when you transfer it, it will be on the correct face. No need to cut/paste in the way you are describing. Let the printer print it in reverse and it will work perfectly.

When it comes to printing on non typical paper types you need to look in your printer options. When you send a document to the printer most printers have a button next to the printer quot;propertiesquot;. Click this button and it will bring you to advanced printer options. I am using a HP L7500 series printer an it has several tabs. The default tab that is open should have a selection for paper type. Select the paper that yours is most correct. Than navigate to the advanced tab and look for mirror image. Select on.
