Can someone explain to me an ethernet printer? -
I can t find a basic explanation to how an ethernet printer works. My computer vocabulary is terrible. Can anyone explain how ethernet printers works in quot;basicquot; words?
Printers in the PC world are usually attached to a computer. When the computer is part of a network, it can share its printers with other computers on the network. Those computers can use the printer just as if it were connected directly to them. There s one big drawback to this configuration: The computer the printer is attached to has to be running. If it s down, so is the printer. Enter the Ethernet printer, also sometimes known as a print server. This is a printer that connects directly to the network and needs no host computer running it. Hope that helps.
