What kind of printer should I use to print photos on a transparent foil? -

I heard dye sublimation and thermal printers should do it. the foil is thin, and i want high quality photos on it. i do not care about the costs. i d like to print white too.

Inkjet printers will work all the time, but will be very slow. On the other hand they will have great quality. Colour Laser printers on the other hand will NOT always support transparencies. To reduce costs of the laser engine, laser manufacturers had removed the ability to print on this media a couple of years ago, especially in the low end colour laser segment. Do check before you buy, otherwise you could permanently damage the printer, nothing worst that melted plastic on fire around the fusing unit. For instance, the latest small Hp CP1215 supports transparencies.

To my knowledge, Laser or Inkjet will not print white on transparencies, they use CMYK not RGB http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CMYK Apparently it cannot be done. Report Abuse

you need a color laser.... oh and nobody calls them foils anymore :-) ...transparencies
