What are your thoughts on refurbished inkjet cartridges or refilled ones? -

I have seen refurbished and refilled cartridges for 80% off. What a Deal! But I am kind of nervous about the quality and such. Should I be worried or are they safe to use. Are they going to work the same as the new? will they harm the computer?

A refilled/remanufactured cartridge is only as good as the refiller/remanufacturer. There are good ones and there are bad ones. A properly refilled cartridge will not harm anything and the output will be equal to original. In most cases, your savings will be multiplied because very few OEM cartridges are filled to capacity. Your computer won t feel a thing. Stick with an established refiller with a money-back guarantee and you will be quite pleased with the results. In most countries, it is illegal for the printer manufacturer or retailer to void your warranty based solely on the use of third-party inks. For example, Canadians and Americans are protected by the Canada Competition Act and the Sherman Antitrust Act, respectively.

Reasons why not to use refilled cartridges: * With most ink cartridges the print head is actually apart of the cartridge. So when you replace the cartridge your not only getting more ink but also a new print head (Why they are a little more expensive then refills). * Usually most ink refills are not done correctly (They are not resealed correctly, Contain inferior quality ink) * Can release above the normal amount of ink when printing (This becomes trapped in the machine and on various components. When the ink dries this can cause excessive heat and possibly burn out a system board or similar) *You can also void your printer s warranty by using them. *Most re-fillers do not guarantee that the cartridge wont damage your printer. Hope this helps ;) Note: I have a whole heap of photos of what refilled cartridges / toners actually do to the inside of your machine. When i get the time i will post them up so you have a look.

Refurbished ink cartridges have been cleaned, refilled and tested for you. They are a better way to get replacements because if you get the refill kit, you might not refill it properly. One mistake and the ink will leak into your printer, destroying it. I know this from experience and it was a nice printer too. Simply getting refilled cartridges does not guarantee they will work, whereas the refurbished normally come with a guarantee against defects.

They are great, I use them and have been for over 2 years and never had a problem.

they are ok to use. You can only refill them 2 or 3 times before they are garbage and start making a mess of your printer. For the cost of ink it s probably worth a shot in the least.

Ink-jet printers are very sensitive to the ink quality. From my experience, to avoid frustration, anger and time wasting, better buy recommended brand name cartridge even if it s like 2-3 times more expensive than refilled one. Believe me, you ll save on your health, nerve and patience.
