How does a normal black ink cartrige really work? -

I mean is data (electrical currents) sent to the cartrige iteself when it needs to release ink.

on the back of the cartridge or print head you have little electronics. These correspond to the nozzles on the print head. These electronics are turned on and off by way of providing a current. When the electronic is on it heats the print head sublimating the ink and delivering it to the paper. When it is off it sits idle. It is the rapid on/off switching that allows the print to be formed on the page.

There is actually a fine particulate which comprises the pigmentation of the ink, that is actually the part that is boding to th paper. the gas itself carries the particle to the page during the sublimation process. Report Abuse
