What is the best computer printer on the current market, that will allow me to refill the intanks myself,? -

In addition, will allow me to switch off the color tanks so I don t use them up while I am printing black text only?

David has the idea but the Wrong equipment. If you want to save some serious money, only run out of ink if you screw up and enjoy screwing the ink companies who screw you, then go to the site below: http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/ I have been using a CISS and it paid for itself in less than a month. EpsonCX9400Fax All In One.

There is a reason why some color gets used even if you only print in black. Trying to circumvent this will destroy your printer. Also, allowing any color to remain empty to an extended period will also destroy your printer. read this for more details http://ccs-digital.com/inkjetcare.asp Refilling ink cartridges is a dangerous practice which can also damage your printer. Read this for more details http://ccs-digital.com/refills.asp Every day another few people come to this site posting about how they got refilled cartridges and now their printer wont work. If you want the best of both worlds, look at the re-usable (not refilled) cartridges sold at http://ccs-digital.com The ink is in a separate tank. when the ink runs out, you pop out the tank and pop in a new one. The chip resets to full and you re good to go. No mess and none of the risks of refilling. The ink tanks are under $3 and hold 66% more ink than standard cartridges. I ve been using them for years. As for which printer to get, if you re looking for a reliable all-in-one inkjet with good quality output, a solid warranty and inexpensive ink, look at the Epson workforce or NX series. The best warranty in the industry. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one.

most inkjets and some lazers will let you refill...but its not always a good idea! many wallgreens can refill your inkjets...its still better to use the inks designed for your printer. If you get a $1000.00 printer and use refills all the time you may screw up the nozzles and the you would be out the cost of repairs..for as long as it would take to ship it to the repair place and back! oh..ya..some companys will void your warrante if you use quot;refillsquot;! So the savings may not be worth the future expense! I use my printers a lot and only use refills in an emergencey..

What is more cost effective? Compare using an inkjet printer with compatible ink to using a laser printer.? -

In fact, I mean the maintenance cost and not the cost price of the printer.

I take it your are heading towards lowest total cost of ownership/cost per page. For high volume black and white lasers definitely have it by miles, especially as you cant hardly find a black and white inkjet these days, and colour ones often won t even print black and white if one of the colours is empty. For low volume colour then back to ink jets. For high volume colour, then back to lasers. But there are huge differences between individual devices. On inkjets the only consumable is usually the ink carts, though some use ink tanks with the heads seperate, these tend to be good for between 500-2000 pages at 10% coverage. On laserjets you have three to or four consumables. (Toner rated at 10% coverage the rest just pages) Toner cart - 2000-20000 pages (4 of for colour) Transfer rollers 5000- 50,000 (Often combined with the toner cart) Transfer belt 20000-10000 pages (Colour printers) Fuser 50000 to 200000 pages Also look at the ease of clearing paper jams, some lexmarks are appalling, generally HP and OKI easier. On lasers you may also need to replace pickup rollers and seperation rollers or pads due to the high volume, long design lifes but these are only a couple of quid each and easy to click in and out. Also some lasers you need an engineer to change the fuser, on others, its press two levers, pull it out and clip in the new one. You should check out things like duty cycle which will give a pages per month (or week or day) type figure. Another advantage of lasers, because its melted in poweder, the printouts don t run when wet while inkjet prints generally do. A disadvantage of inkjets, if only used occasionally, the ink can dry out. Hope my rambling helps more than confuses. Peronally I have a couple of cheepo multifunction colour inkjets and a several year old second hand duplex (Double sided) b/w laserjet.

Inkjet printers have problems with printer heads becoming clogged if not used at least every few days. They use lots of ink, most of it wasted on start up and head cleaning. Laser printers do not have those problems. Turn it on after 6 months and it prints. I m only guessing but toner is a lot cheaper than liquid ink. I use both, inkjet is a All in One [fax, copy, scan and print]. Laser is a Samsung CPL-300 was on sale $124 and I just love a bargain.

How do I increase the font size for my printer? -

When I print, for example, Mapquest instructions, the font size is too small. How can I increase the size?

Look in the lower rt corner of the screen and you will see 100% and a small arrow.Click on it and that will allow you to increase font sizes--Or decrease

Another way to increase the fonts on mapquest it to go in your printer preferences and select quot;Fit to Pagequot; which is WHAT I suggest for a readable map.

on your browser, hold CTRL, and scroll UP with your mouse. Should do the trick.

What is a good laser copier/printer for a small business that is less then 2 cents per page? -

I don t want to pay much for black printer cartridges.

Hey, get the laserjet from HP. They are the cheapest to run and you get more prints out of their cartrdige compared to others. We use 4 at the office and have tried all kinds. HP is reliable, fast and a workhorse. Here is the link http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shoppi… The 6500 has very good rating.. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shoppi…

Are you looking for just black and white? We have a special program that locks in a set cost per page and includes all supplies and service over a contracted term. You can order supplies online, have them overnighted to your door and we have a few different models that we can get you under 2 cents a print/copy on. Only upfront cost is the machine itself, and we offer leasing options if you re interested. http://www.xerographicsupply.com/80.html

Cheapest paper is $2.50 a ream which is 0.005 a sheet. Most printers will fill that order. I would use an Epson inject printer with a CISS which brings down the cost of ink tremendously. The system pays for itself in less than a month and never change cartridges. Bulk ink is reasonably priced and print quality is excellent. Check out http://www.inkproducts.com/ink-store/

I say the HP laserJet is a good one

I have 2 laptops running vista and an hp3000 series printer. How do I set up the printer as a network printer? -

I want to be able to print from any laptop anywhere in the house. I do not have a desktop nor do I want one. I currently have a d-link router

Assuming the 2 pcs are networked together then you can: go to the laptop with the printer, open the printers folder in the control panel right click the printer icon and choose quot;sharequot;. Now go to the other laptop and into the printers folder the choose Add new Printer Choose network printer choose browse select the printer you are good to go. You might need to visit the quot;network and sharing centerquot; in control panel (on the laptop with the printer) and make sure that quot;printer sharingquot; is enabled and possibly quot;network discoveryquot; is enabled. On the other laptop you may need to visit the network and sharing centre and make sure quot;netwrok discoveryquot; is enabled too. NOTE: this will only enable printing if the laptop with the printer is switched on. If you want more flexible printing then you should buy an inexpensive quot;print serverquot;. This is a small gadget (size of a pack or cigarettes) costs about $30-$50 and will share the printer via the router - instead of via a laptop. That way, you can print without the quot;hostquot; laptop being switched on. Print servers come in wired or wireless flavours. FOr extra stability I recommend a wired one. Then this will connect directly to the router by network cable and will just work. Adding another wireless device can be an extra layer of complication (but still basically sound) If you do this then on both laptops you would add a new network printer.

OK~~ Thank you for your answer! Great! http://www.toboc.com/forum3/DEFAULT.ASPX…

How do I share a printer on a wireless network? -

How do i setup my printer on a wireless network. printer does not have bluetooth or anything like that. I know it can be done but cant figure it out. any tips or how to advise would help.

You could get a wireless print server. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/… Then you can set your printer anywhere in range of your wireless router. As long as the router is on, the printer is on, and the wireless print server is on...you will be able to print from any computer that is on the LAN. Another option is to connect it physically to a computer that is on the LAN. For instance, connect it to your desktop using the USB cable. Get it set up so that it prints. Then go to control panel, printers and faxes. Right click on the printer and choose Sharing....then choose to quot;share this printerquot;. Give it an easy share name to remember. The best thing to do is put all the computers on your LAN in the same workgroup. Go to control panel, system, computer name. Make sure all the computers have the same workgroup name. If they don t change them and reboot. It just makes it easier to browse for the shares. On the computer that has the printer attached go to control panel and click on windows firewall. Click the exceptions tab and make sure that File and Print Sharing has a check in it. Then ok your way out of there. That pretty much does it. You will need to go to the other computers and go to network places...view workgroup computers, find the computer with the attached computer....in there you should see the printer....double click on it and it should set it up as a printer for you....it will pull the driver from the computer that is sharing it. Good Luck =)

Hook up the printer to a computer that is hook up to your network. go to printers and faxes in control panel and right click the printer and share. then go on your wireless machine and go to printers and faxes and click add printer and go through the wizard and then when it asks you if it is plugged in to another computer on the network click that and next and it will search your network. And it should show up select it and click next and there you go.

Where are places I can go to refill my ink cartridges for less than buying new ones? -

I can t seem to find no place online that would tell me. Only stupid websites but not actual places like circuit city, etc. Where is a good place where they refill ink cartridges?

Walgreens drug stores do it..

Most Walgreens, and Office Max have refill services. However, check your specific location first. Only take one that ran out in the last 24-48 hours. Older than that would have dried out and would not work.

Walgreens will but not at all of their locations.

Refilling ink cartridges can damage your printer. Not only that, but it s not certified by the company that makes your printer, and the quality of the ink isn t as good. Just spend the few extra dollars and buy a new ink cartridge. It s so much easier.

How can I connect my printer to my router, in order to print wireless from my laptop? -

I just recently invested in a router. I have a home pc and printer which are connected. I want to be able to print from my laptop wireless, so how would I connect the printer to the router? I m thinking I might need a cable of some sort but im not sure. The ports on the printer are the size of the ones you find on a phone jack and the ones on the router are huge...any suugestions?

Most printers now-a-days have a USB interface. (This is a little larger than a phone jack but completely different.) If that s what you have, then you need to get a USB adapter that allows you to connect the USB printer directly into your router. You could also get a wireless print server which does the same thing (printer connects to the device and the device connects to the router but also allows for sireless connections.)

You will need to find out first if your printer can be connected to the router directly (providing the make and model would have been a great help). By what you are describing it sounds like it will not (may be an all in one, fax, copier and printer) If not then you can leave the printer set up on the desktop PC and have it shared, so that any other computer on your network can print to it. Only problem being that the PC has to be on in order to print from the laptop... We need to start with the model of printer first.

If your pc is connected to the network then you do not need to connect the printer to the router. all you ll need to do is to set your printer as a shared printer. how you ll do this is by going to your printers and fax folder and right click on the printer you use and select sharing on the menu, when the sharing window pops up select Share this Printer , now you ll select your network name for the printer (Make it one word, otherwise it won t work) , then click ok. Ok now we should be done with the PC, let s move on to the laptop. Go to your Printer and Fax folder on the laptop and click on the Add Printer button and click Next , Select the Network printer option then click Next . If it s not already selected chose Browse for a printer then click Next . Select the name of you PC on the network and double click til a list expands, your printer should be in there (If not then, we missed something in the PC portion of this setup(Which I doubt)) then click Next , Now it s asking you if you want to make it the default printer, i m guessing your going to want to select Yes then click next , Now your almost done, click Finish and it may take a minute to load your drivers over the network. Good Luck!

If you are sure that your printer does not have a network card (bigger holes) then you will need to buy a small / cheap print server. (a little box) There will be two cables coming out of the back of the printer, one is the power cable, the other is either a parallel (large connection with lots of pins) or a usb cable (small metal rectangle) The parallel cable or usb cable will plug into the print server (box) and then you will need a network cable to go from the print server (little box) to your router. Just pop into you local PC store and see about a cheap one. Before you go, you will need to know if you printer connects using a usb cable or parallel cable Hopefully this helps, Peco

1. Make sure that the machine is turned on, then load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray. 2. Open the Paper Output Tray, then set the Paper Thickness Lever. (1) Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently. (2) Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side. (3) Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the left. 3. Print the nozzle check pattern. (1) Press the Menu button repeatedly until MAINTENANCE appears. (2) Press the or button to select NOZZLE CHECK, then press the OK button. The machine prints a nozzle check pattern. 4. Examine the pattern and take the appropriate action.

Can you put a regular magnetic sheet in the printer and print your own magnets? -

Where can i download a driver of epson stylus c67 printer that is compatible with windows vista OS? -

i bought a new laptop that is working on windows vista 32-bit operating system. i m trying to install epson stylis c67 printer, but there is a compatible issue upon installing. i think my driver is only for windows xp. i tried to look for the driver at epson website but i can t find its driver for vista. is there any driver for vista? where can i download it? thanks.

If the driver is not listed on Epson web site, then you might try running the printer in compatibility mode. This is advise from Microsoft that has helped me run drivers made for XP on a Vista machine... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927524 Hope this helps you!

Try this site....this is supposed to work.

The driver must come from Epson. Watch their site for a new driver release and/or contact Epson about your specific printer.

I ve found this to be helpful and problem free. http://www.officialdrivers.com It will scan your system and locate the exact drivers you need to update automatically... Hope it helps you!

I hope to get the colors working again but I would like to keep printing in the meantime. Can I somehow change the printer settings to not print in color?

when you go to print, click on properties after you select your printer. Depending on your printer, there is a box in one of the tabs that says print in black and white or print in gray scale. Check that box and print.
