How do I print wirelessly from my Dell Vostro 1000 Lap top? -

I already have a desktop computer connected to an Epson Stylus photo R380 Printer using USB Cables. There is another lap top in the house, but neither lap-top can print wirelessly to the printer. Do I need a Print Server? Any recommendations?

create a basic network this will enable all of the computers to print via the desktop pc. This machine has to be turned on all of the time though, or at least when you want to print. to set up a network ensure that all of the machines are members of the same workgroup. go to startgt;control panelgt;systemgt;computer name. do this on each machine and change the workgroup name to WORKGROUP (the name doesn t really matter as long as they are all the same). then reboot. now turn off all firewalls (you can leave the xp one on) on the desktop enable file and printer sharing (goto my computer and right click your c:/, then select file sharing and click thru) on the laptops goto startgt;printers and faxes and then add a printer Next goto startgt;printers and faxesgt;add a new printer. click next then select the quot;a network printer...quot; button then next and select browse for a printer. once it has been found just add it. go back to startgt;printers and faxes and ensure that it is now your default printer You can also now also use the pc as a storge drive for your laptops by sharing sections of the harddrve(s)- eg to share a folder called c:/downloads goto the c: drive on the pc, right click on the downloads folder and select sharing and security. once it is shared it will have a liitle hand under it to show you that it is shared. on the laptop now goto startgt;my network places and select view workgroup computers on the right hand side. you will now see your shares good luck daryl http://www.imaginarynumber.co.uk

You can print to any printer attached to a computer on your network. 1. Make sure you have a network set up with the same Workgroup name on all computers and with the file and printer sharing turned on. 2. Go to Faxes and Printers and then quot;Add new printerquot; 3. Choose network printer 4. Your network and Workgroup should come up. Within the Workgroup you should see both your computers. 5. Choose the computer with printer and it will show which printers are attached to it. 6. Double click on the printer you want and complete the installation. The only tradeoff with this setup is that the computer with the printer must be on and not in standby mode, unless you can set it to wake up when it receives a print call from the network.

if the printer is not bluethooth enable , i mean wireless , I don t see how u can print

To print wirelessly, the printer has to be wireless. I dont think the Epson is. I have Epson 320 amp; I know its not. Check spec s on the 380 and see if it has a wireless card in it. If not, you cannot print wirelessly to that printer.

is this epson printer a wireless printer
