You sound like you may have a hardware problem with your printer. go to http:://www.hp.com to check support documents. The control board or the pick up assembly may be acting up. If this is a new printer, get it fixed under warranty asap. The only way it may be a software issue is if it only happens in one program. If it happens in multiple programs, reinstall the printer driver. You can also see if there is a firmware update on HP s website for that printer.
